“Leappy birthday” to meeeee! This year, my wish is that we’ll finally find the house we both love that 小蔡 will grow up in, everyone will be healthy and contented and complain less, and finally that we’ll always be able to go on our culinary adventures, even baby in tow! Oh, and also that @coniboniliu will save my hormone ravaged complextion and I’ll lose all the baby weight and then some after birth so I can be pretty and thin again! ‘Twas a pretty commendable birthday meal at Kenji Yamanaka’s Béni. The crab cauliflower as well as lobster and tomato appetisers and kobe beef main were the triumphs of the night. Pretty understated place but full of surprises. (at béni Singapore)
Tomorrow I celebrate my last child-free birthday. The fact I had to reminded it was my birthday month this year seems to an omen of what’s to come. Add to that the fact I’ve been covering for two other persons at work for the last two months with no respite, and still have meetings scheduled tomorrow, I think I might be saying goodbye to fun birthdays for the rest of my life. Sigh. Unless of course E decides my job can take a long walk off a short pier. Mmmmm, now I know what I’ll be wishing for when I blow out the candles this year!

Humans are so weird. Mama arranged me in this position with this smelly dog wannabe and then is surprised to find me still in this position half an hour later. Crazy human antics.
A regular World Cup Monday night involves E wah-lau-ing at the Brazil vs Mexico match while fixing his (oddly faceless) Statue of Liberty lego set. During this time, I baked up a batch of black sesame madeleines. Thanks Russia 2018 for this serene night of domesticity.
Now that impending motherhood has gifted me with water retention and distended body parts, the only jewellery I can put on without angst are earrings. These came just in time to become my current favourite! Yayyy!
