Rhyme Perception Study

Hey everyone!!! Sorry I haven’t been active at all in the last… I don’t even know, but I’m carrying out a study on rhyme perception for my final-year dissertation, and I was thinking I might as well post it here too!

I think Langblr is generally versed in linguistics, so this might narrow it down already, but if you were educated in English or Polish, aren’t schooled in phonetics, phonology or just general linguistic theory and wouldn’t mind sparing around 20 minutes to run through a survey and browser experiment, I’d really appreciate it if you could take part - you’d really be helping a poor linguistics student out 🥺

I can't believe I got the skeleton of my second conlang done todayyyy. I actually really like it, AND I PUT TRILLS IN IT??? I am BRAVE today lmao.

I did a fairly nice name system so I can give some characters actual names and in actually really proud of one of my country names, if anyone wants to critique or hear about it I'd be happy asf to talk about it! (I say to my 2 followers lmao)

a fricative trill?

Alveolar and bilabial but I definitely underuse them because the pronunciation is difficult for me lmao

how does the name system work, what’s the country name? if you wanna share!

I'd be happy to! Although I'm definitely not an expert at linguistics or a particularly experienced conlanger.

I decided that the naming system (first names for people) is going to be something along the lines of an adjective with a suffix type thing added to make it into more of a name, but I definitely need to do more research into names. The idea was not having to be too concerned about what the names mean.

And the country name! It's probably going to be edited and things but it's "kan'it'flerevkun'ikanvere'at" it's quite a mouthful but I wanted the meaning to stay the same so it's just shortened when in practical use. It translates to "Ehreaths garden" which is a reference to a god in the world and its all world buildy type stuff rather than linguistics. Oh and the apostrophes are to seperate syllables that don't go together but I haven't got a proper system worked out yet.

don’t apologise, never shutting up is a good thing!! this is really cool, and not being an expert is so valid, the only way you become an experienced conlanger is by making conlangs ^^ 

the adjective + suffix system sounds so so interesting, so much potential to either make names unique to each character or just pick something without worrying too much about it. and that is such an awesome country name, i love when conlanging and worldbuilding in general are combined :D
