‘the last time i saw my dad was seven years ago as he was being arrested.’ hojung never quite knows exactly how to bring up the topic of his father, ‘him being arrested was nothing new but this time was different. this time i knew he wasn’t coming back.’ hojung shrugged. he’d made some sort of peace with his childhood. perhaps it wasn’t peace so much as apathy. he couldn’t change what had happened and dwelling on it wasn’t going to do him any good, ‘he’d always been a dick. violent and drunk. but that night he was worse. worse than i’d ever seen him.’ hojung doesn’t like to remind himself of it but he suppose the other has a right to know why he’s refusing to go visit his father now that he’s been released from prison, ‘a fight broke out between him and my older brother. i don’t even remember what the fight was about but taehyung and i tried to get between them and-’ hojung sighs, ‘i was the youngest, the smallest, i was an easy target so my dad went after me first. broke my arm and fractured a few ribs before my brothers managed to pull him off me. i thought he was crazy before but he just-he just fucking snapped. wouldn’t let anyone call me an ambulance, threatened to kill us all and then he actually tried too. lit the goddamn house on fire with us still in it.’ hojung lets out a shaky breathy. no matter how long it’s been the story still gets too him, ‘so, no. i won’t be going to visit him. not now. not ever.’
