Chicago Beer Pass: At MillerCoors
Welcome to the Chicago Beer Pass: Your ticket to all the great beer events happening in and around Chicago.
This week Brad Chmielewski and Nik White are mixing things up. The guys are at the MillerCoors office chatting with Lisa Zimmer, the Beer Culture and Community Specialist for Tenth and Blake Beer Company. The guys don’t dive much into the past week but they sample a ton of beer including some Steel Reserve pineapple that Nik couldn’t wait to dive into.
Lisa shares some of the plans for the future and a few of the struggles they run into when they look to ramp up production on some of their beers.
Hopefully you enjoy this weeks direction of Chicago Beer Pass and learn a thing or two. Cheers!

It me.
Do you ever worry about what others think? Like if you were eating alone in a restaurant? I don't, because I love to see people eating alone.
I go to the movies alone often. Very often. I love it. I play video games in the arcade outside the theater. I shop alone. I drive alone. I go to bookstores alone. It’s decadent, being on a date with myself. I very much enjoy it, and enjoy knowing that I don’t need the company of another to identify a good day.

A proud day for me to be asked to carry the Pan Am Games torch and light the cauldron flame. I salute the athletes!

April 12th 1961: Yuri Gagarin becomes the first man in space
On this day in 1961, the Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human to travel into outer space. Gagarin, a fighter pilot, was the successful candidate for the mission, being selected by Russian space programme director Sergei Korolev. Russia already had a lead in the Space Race, having launched Sputnik 1 in 1957, which was the first satellite in space. On April 12th 1961, Gagarin left Earth aboard the Vostok 1 spacecraft, famously declaring ‘Poyekhali!’ (which means ‘Let’s go!’ in Russian). He spent 108 minutes completing an orbit of the planet. Upon re-entering the atmosphere, Gagarin executed a successful ejection and landed by parachute in rural Russia, to the consternation of locals. Yuri Gagarin became famous worldwide and a Russian hero, being awarded the nation’s highest honour - Hero of the Soviet Union. Gagarin died in 1968 when the training plane he was piloting crashed; his ashes were buried in the walls of the Kremlin.
“Don’t be afraid, I am a Soviet citizen like you, who has descended from space and I must find a telephone to call Moscow!” - Gagarin to some stunned farmers when he landed
