i lift like every week or so in various locations ((and i’ve been noticing some very concerning new LP methods being implemented))

and i haven’t been doing big makeup hails so now i’m paranoid they’ve started putting tags inside palettes????

my hauls have always been lavish and cool but

i’m extremely grateful to my ability to lift during all this. it’s been essential to affording items i need and can’t afford.

we’re all in a unique position to be able to say we know what it means when items are overpriced and the average buyer is being price gouged. we’ve pretty much all gone through the disappointment of lifting a $$$ item only to find out it sucked. we already know how it feels to bypass this trial and error to have access to anything we want, provided we know how to get it.

for a lot of reasons i think we are about to see a spike in surveillance and enhanced security means of preventing lifting. i don’t claim to know exactly where things are headed but if there’s one thing for sure, it’s that if we all stand together against these new measures we can come up with new solutions and workarounds again. until then. 💓

Bad lifters

If you’re a lifter and you are always getting caught, then please, STOP! This means you are not good, have multiple people and stores sussing you and have a case against you in either one or varies stores. Lifting for things is fine, we obviously all do it. But if you are risking your safety because of how greedy you’re getting then you need to buckle down, reflect on why you’re here and why these things happen to you. Either stop and give it time to get better or leave the community. Sorry to be blunt but this is seriously NOT a joke. You can get arrested. You’re not proving anything to yourself or to the girls on here. Make conscious decisions about all of this.

End all be all: you will be blocked. I don’t want to encourage a bad lifter to continue this and I personally don’t want to see posts.

Disclaimer: this is not for someone who’s been caught once or twice. That’s fine of course but to the people that get caught almost every time they go out. Stop that shit.

lifting 101- what to do if you get stopped

please for the love of god if you get stopped don’t start crying and admit to everything. Play it cool and act like you don’t know what they’re talking about. They can only (legally) search you if they have probable cause! Lp and sa’s will try to scare you into admitting to lifting and consenting to being searched, but unless they have probable cause they are not allowed to search you. Meaning they have to see you conceal the items, whether on camera or in person. If they try to stop you because you look “suspicious” or they refuse to let you leave the store because they “suspect you are shoplifting” or something like that, then it’s illegal!!! That is called false imprisonment and illegal detainment. And you can sue them. Make this know if they try to keep you.

So, if you’re stopped on suspicion of shoplifting, they must have probable cause and if not, you are free to leave. Period. If they fail to present probable cause, walk your ass right on out. (And then don’t come back to that store for a long ass time lol)

beeping is only probable cause if they already saw you conceal. i promise that if they readily had access to probable cause they’d detain you no matter what you do or say lol. so lie and act stupid no matter what. don’t talk n you’ll walk 🤷🏼‍♀️
