IBO Character Book (Post the First)
So, I do not have a very good scanner, a fact which is likely to remain true unless I miraculously come into several hundred dollars I have no other use for. I won’t, therefore, be scanning the entirety of this book, and the scans I do have are not humongous resolution–I don’t want to exhaust the book’s spine or my own arms. I am, however, tentatively open to requests: if anyone has a favorite character they particularly want to see the design work/model sheet/costume page for, message me, and I’ll see what I can do about sharing.
The model sheets and costume pages are about what you’d expect–headshots from different angles, close-ups on any particularly fiddly bits, and so forth. The design sketches, meanwhile, all look like they’re from fairly far along in the process. You won’t find any radically different early designs; the biggest differences I saw on any character were costume-based. Nonetheless, there’s no shortage of interest, particularly, I imagine, if one can read Japanese and read the designer commentary. I cannot do that, but I have left it in the images where it occurs, for those who can.
Hit the jump for fun promo art I have not seen elsewhere, notes of interest in early costume design, hairflips, some Twitter sketches, and Carta Issue in a party dress.
