Andi had begged them to go to an Aquarium together for ages, it had taken a little while for their schedules to align so they could all go as a trio. Malaki had promised to be on his best behaviour as he stayed home, but Kaylee still had planned to text in checks every so often.

Kaylee had to be held back from paying the entrance fee, which was now much easier since Sylvie could grab her while Andi swiped her card. they got their wrist bands and headed off to the first part of the aquarium immediately immersed in the sea life.

"soooo?" Kay trilled, "is this beginning to be all we wanted and more, andi-bear?"

“Yes. Absolutely,” Andi replied instantly, already looking around at everything. Trying to figure out where to go first.

Though her heart belonged to the stars, she adored the sea almost as much. Fish were the aliens of the water.

Andi tilted her head back to look at her two girlfriends. Kaylee, positively shining as she turned her head to look at the beautiful creatures floating around them. Sylvie, one hand resting casually on one handle of Andi’s wheelchair, with a soft smile on her face. The love Andi felt looking at them made her heart flip in her chest.

“We HAVE to see the jellyfish section,” she added. Jellyfish were extra cool and awesome and beautiful. Like her girlfriends.

[Shes never gone to many of these places but she’s found she quite likes them. Aquariums are calming… the soft glows of certain species, the way they just swim around without a care in the world.]

[Sylvie fiddled with a bracelet, a gift from a patient she remembers. In another hand she carried sweets and other various treats for the picnic that Kaylee had invited her to hang out.]

[At the moment, she was trying to find the spot the aforementioned woman had told her to meet her at and soon enough she heard her voice calling out to her.]

Kaylee was nervous, her first date with another girl. Andi had given her the go-ahead, having thoroughly enjoyed her company at their little dinner party.

She trotted down the path, her kitten-heeled sandals clacking against the rocky pathway. There was Sylvie, her brown hair glittering with gold highlights in the sun as she waited.

She looked just as nervous as Kaylee felt, fiddling with either a watch or a bracelet, Kay couldn't figure it out from there. Kaylee threw on a bright smile, waiving with both hands as she walked a little faster over to the woman.

"haaiiii cutiee!!! i hope i didn't keep you waiting too too long!" she cheered, pulling her into a soft little hug when they got close. "hopefully i can make today worth the wait." she whispered playfully.

”No, no. Not at all.”

[Sylvie’s voice is soft as always, a small smile clear on her face as she teases.]

“I think any time spent in your company’s worth the wait and more, Mon Soleil. I really can’t wait for this, I baked like I said I would!”

"oh my gosh what did we bring? show show show!" she cheered, finding a nice sandy spot to set down their bags and put out a towel.

"i brought like an unholy amount of fruit. i'm a fruit lover hehe," she said, opening up her insulated tote to reveal tupperware upon tupperware filled with blueberries and cherries and watermelon galore.

"ok so should we snack and talk or splash around and talk first, what d'you want baby?" she asked her, petnames already going strong.

[Sylvie laughs, it’s like she said just being around Kaylee makes her feel light and warm, and jokes.]

“A fruit lover? Oh I bet, heh.”

[She’s becoming more cheeky which if most of her close friends know Sylvie only gets like that when she’s comfortable around someone.]

“Hmm let’s swim around first! Cause I think if we eat first then swim, we’ll feel a little slow and too full cause of the digestion. We can eat after we swim to get back our energy.”

“Of course, only if you agree with that.”

"well c'mon what are we waiting for?" she exclaimed, kicking off her shoes and lightly tugging Sylvie by the hands into the water.

Kaylee let go in a moment, wading in the water until it was up to her chest, letting herself fall back to float a little. god she missed the water, letting the earth take her weight for a moment to just feel calm.

"soooooooo cutie, tell me me about yourself. what's all up with miss Sylvie. who's the pretty thing i see here?" she asked her.

[She laughed, grateful she had tugged off her top quick enough to not get it wet, revealing the top dark blue piece of her swimsuit.]

[Sylvie admires Kaylee for a moment, carefully wading around happily. Oh how she missed swimming around… she wishes she truly had more time to go.]

“Well we’ll need specifics from the beautiful lady asking.”

[She teases, adding right after.]

“And I’ll have to know whether you learn better visually or hands on.~”

"hmmmm," Kaylee teased for a second, "both." she announced, walking slowly up to the woman before her and settling her hands on Sylvie's waist.

"but i also do good auditorily, so tell me cupcake, who is this beauty. i never get to know much about the docs at our job," she told her.

"i'll tell you all the ins and outs of Nurse Gwennie if you tell me about Doc Sylvie."

[She huffs and gently begins, placing her hands on Kaylee’s waist right back.]

”Mm, well I can tell you my favorite flowers are lillies, my favorite color is yellow and green, my favorite season is spring…”

“You should already know this but I perform part-time at a bar, both solo and with others. I met my best friend there, he’s a darling.”

[Sylvie tilts her head outlined by the golden light of the sun.]

“Anything else you might wanna know? I’d love to learn the ins and out of you too, my sun.”

"hmmm, well, what do you look for in a relationship? what do you like to eat? food wise i mean," she teased.

"you look like you eat excellently." she whispered, sticking out her tongue a little with a wink.

"well, with me i have a foster kiddo named Malaki, but i call him Maki. my favourite colour is lavender purple and baby pink, but most pastels are my vibe. I love the fall, and i love it when girls let me sit on their laps." she giggled.

[Sylvie hums, pulling her just a little closer.]

“Mmm noted and maybe you’ll find out soon just how well I can. After all, it happens I’ve got quite the sweet tooth and you’re the perfect meal to sate that.”

[She perks up though at the mention of Malaki.]

“A foster kid, huh?”

"uh yeah," Kaylee said with a smile, "it's an incredibly long story but yeah, i'm a foster mom."

"he's sixteen and i ended up getting him out of a group home and now i'm his foster momma." she explained with a shrug.

"plus, you never answered my questions," she said with a wink.

“Ah, I see. That’s sweet.“

“Oh, patience… I’m getting there.”

[She thinks for a moment.]

“Mmm I have a preference for savory things and I wasn’t joking when I said I have a sweet tooth, y’know. What do I look for in a relationship..?”

“Someone who’ll be the light to guide me when I’m not so steady on my feet, someone to help me when I’m down, same as everyone I suppose.”

Kaylee gave a gentle smile, "well, you came to the right person for that, and Andi too." she mentioned.

"its always important to have people like that, ya know?" she mentioned, "PTMC is full of people like that, but i'm glad you found me and Andi,"

"you deserve all the love in the world you pretty little star,"

“I’m glad I found you two, as well. If anything, I should be calling you two my sun and stars. I’m lucky to have found you both.”

[She gently tugs Kaylee closer with a small smile on her face.]

“Now… shall we get out of the water and eat up?”

"hmmm," kaylee smiled. "one thing first."

Kaylee pulled her in close, taking a moment to dunk sylvie and then bring her up to give a gentle kiss to the nose.

"now we can go eat," she said with a playful giggle, tugging Sylvie back to shore.

"so, what baked goodies did you bring us?"

[Sylvie laughs right back, her hair’s gonna be super curly and frizzy now but what does it matter, really?]

“Well I made some cookies and some brownies since I didn’t wanna risk making anything too full of flavor and messing it up.”

[She wraps a towel around Kaylee’s shoulders before grabbing one for herself, drying her hair & top body slightly and then wrapping it around her waist]

"oooh, yummy!" Kaylee says with a smile, pulling the sun-warmed towel closer around her.

the towel smelled just like Sylvie. sweet and chocolatey and something she just wanted to be wrapped in forever.

"i've got berries and cherries and watermelon. and of course like chips and juice and things," she explained.

“Ahh nice,”

She comments while settling down on the picnic blanket, carefully placing the containers of treats she brought down.

“I loovveee cherries and watermelons just taste so much better during the sunny days, don’t they?”

"mhm, there's just something so good about fruit in the sun," she explains, "and like, swimming just makes it so much better. it just feels like one big hug from nature,"

kaylee laid back in the sand.

"we should do this more often, to be real with you i'm loving the view," she giggled, very pointedly blushing and staring at Sylvie's exposed skin. "and the company, but i'm just a carnal woman and the eye candy is good enough to eat,"

“I quite love the view from here too.”

“Yes, a repeat is definitely possible.”

[There’s no response for a while until two knocks at the door. Sylvie’s standing there, clearly she was rushing cause her hair’s ever so slightly messy.]

“Kaylee…”

[She pulls her into a tight hug, cradling her head against her neck.]

“It’s okay. I’m here for you and the kid.”

Kaylee was an absolute mess, a long gray cardigan was pulled roughly over a lacy black mesh bra. her hair was in a messy ponytail and her jeans weren't done up all the way revealing matching lace black undergarments. her shoes weren't even tied properly. she looked like she had been through a hurricane.

"i'm- i'm sorry about how i'm dressed i had other plans- i just- i didn't have time to change." she spoke quickly, wiping at her eyes with the back of her hand.

She barely held herself together, biting her lips hard as she tried to muffle how weak she sounded.

"i'm so sorry you got wrapped up in this-"

Sylvie shook her head, cupping her face and speaking firmly to ground Kaylee.

“No. Listen to me, do not apologize because this is not your fault.”

She carefully guides her back in so she doesn’t get cold.

“I don’t care how you’re dressed, okay? You’re still beautiful, no matter what, my sun. And you’re allowed to be a little bit of mess right now.”

"no its not that i mean like- gods. i'm so lucky the cops didn't find him. i look like a hooker right now. tonight was supposed to be a nice night with Andi and now-" she muttered, "god Syll-" she mumbled.

She melted into Sylvie's arms, her legs buckling as the adrenaline induced energy finally drained from her.

"i just wanna be a good mom to him. what am i doing wrong? god Syll, the kid died a month ago after some cunt hit him with a car and now this?"

Sylvie walks over with the girl in her arms to the couch, carefully sitting down and shifting her so she can lay down comfortably.

“No, you aren’t doing anything wrong. You’re doing the best you can provide for him, you’re doing better than most normal moms do.”

[In Sylvie’s mind those standards aren’t very high but this isn’t about her right now.]

“He’s also a teen. A teen with a troubled past who tends to be reckless because of it. So you’ve just gotta keep showing him the love you never stop giving cause he does need you and it's going to take time because it always does with these things.”

[The woman carefully runs her hands through Kaylee’s hair.]

“So remember you’re not alone, you do not have to care for him on your own. You’ve got a whole hospital of friends here to help you with anything you might need, whether that’s in terms of getting him professional help or with the simple things like covering shifts or helping you cook some days.”

[She hesitates but presses a small kiss to the top of Kaylee’s head.]

“I’m here for you, Kaylee. We all are.”

Kaylee squirms her way onto Sylvie's arms and into her lap.

"i just- i don't know what to do." she whispers, "i feel bad if i treat him gently because like i don't want him to think this is okay to do but also like i can't be harsh with him because thats what my mom did and well it didn't go well-" she rambled.

She pulls back, dabbing her eyes.

"it would have been fine if he did it at home its just-" she covers her mouth with her hand, face crumpling into another flow of tears as she muffles her sobs into her hand.

"i can't lose him. i can't. i won't."

“You don’t have to be harsh but you have to let him know that isn’t right and that he can’t keep doing crap like this.”

“And you won’t, not anytime soon.”

[Sylvie continues to run her hands through the other woman’s hair.]

“You should rest too, don’t worry anymore. Me and Andi will take care of anything else today, just… focus on yourself. At least for a little bit.”

"i feel sick," she mumbled into Sylvie's shoulder, settling and letting the weight on her shoulders go. "i just need somebody right now, is- is it ok if you sleep with me tonight? you can borrow my Pjs i just- i dont wanna be alone in case something happens." she explained.

She sat up, her legs still straddling Sylvie. "i've- i keep checking on him because i keep thinking he's going to aspirate and i'm- oh god Sylvie-"

"i'm so sorry- i just-"

the words that she held back stuck in her throat, choking her. she was drained, from working a double shift and coming home to this. she collapsed back again, arms tight around Sylvie's shoulders as crying into her neck.

”Shhh… it’s okay, don’t apologize for anything, my sun… I don’t mind, not at all. Sure I’ll borrow something, just as long as you rest.”

[She picks her up with surprising strength, speaking softly as she stands up.]

“I’ll take care of checking up on him, okay? Nothings gonna happen to him on my watch, trust me.”

[She begins to walk down the hall, carefully opening the door to the bedroom and setting Kaylee down.]

“I’m gonna go check on the kid and be right back, okay?”

Kaylee nodded quietly, wiping her nose with a tissue and sitting on the edge of the bed. when Sylvie left to go check on Malaki, she tugged off her jeans and tossed them in a heap. then went the cardigan. she was a little more violent with her undergarments, pulling harshly at her panties and bra and thrusting them into the laundry with such a force that her wrist made a snapping noise with the effort.

she pulled on a pair of pajamas, not really bothering to check if they matched before getting out a set for Sylvie.

She pulled one of her stuffed toys into her lap, a medium sized lavender coloured kuromi plush and held it tight to her chest, resting her chin on its head. she waited patiently for Sylvie to return.

Eventually Sylvie came back, gently stepping in.

“He’s doing pretty good as far as I can tell, no signs of alchohol poisoning. He isn’t pale, blue-tinged, cold, or clammy at all which is all good news. No breathing issues, too.”

She runs a hand through her hair. She turns back to look at Kaylee, shoulders relaxing as a fond huff and smile escapes her.

“You sure seem comfy, don’t worry, I’ll join you soon. Just need to know where the PJs are.”

Kaylee handed her the pajamas silently.

"i feel bad. he asked to sleep in my bed tonight. but like, i dunno. he wanted to be in the room with me. should- should i go get him? set up a sleeping bag?" she questioned, closing her eyes and turning away so Sylvie could change if she wanted.

"i'm gonna ground him for the day tomorrow. i just- he needs some kind of consequences. nothing major but like, no leaving the house." she explained.

"sh-should i get him a sleeping bag and have him sleep in here? i mean, the sweetie is sick, i should let him have at least a little comfort? right? is that the right thing to do here?" she rambled.

”Calm down… slowly, love.”

[Love. It felt a little strange to say and she gently cradled her face. She had changed into the top that actually fit a little small on her, the sweatpants clinging to her waist.]

“If you want to do that, we can and definitely ground him for a while.”

[She reassures softly before Kaylee can say.]

“And no, that isn’t too harsh, just what’s necessary.”

"o- oh okay, um. i'm gonna go get Maki and get him situated in the corner. i just feel bad since the poor kiddo is scared. but yeah. he's def on house arrest for now." she nodded.

She stood up, stepping around Sylvie for a second.

"oh, um, feel free to get cozy okay? i have lotion on the nightstand if you want it, and yeah. do you want some water?" she asked softly, already back in caretaking mode.

"i'm just gonna get some sleeping things for Maki then i'll be right back."

and sure enough, in a few minutes, a still half asleep Malaki shuffled into the room, Kaylee helped him settle in the corner, setting up her lounge bed in her reading nook of her room, tucking him in again and prepping the medication, tissues, water, and a bucket for him just in case.

"do you need anything Syll?" she asked in a whisper, mindful of the now sleeping boy.

[Sylvie had been watching carefully, nothing but affection in her eyes for the woman in front of her. A thought of the past nagged at the back of her mind but that was for tommorow Syl to deal with.]

“No; no, my sun… just you cuddled up with me is all I need.”

[Kaylee had brought water anyways which she took a sip of before placing it on the nightstand. She outstretched her arms for Kaylee to settle into.]

Kaylee nodded softly, carefully getting into the bed and into the awaiting arms of Sylvie.

She let herself breathe, let herself sink into the soft bed and relax, breathing in the soft scent of her new partner.

"thanks for being here today, i dont know how i'm ever gonna repay your kindness, pretty girl." she whispered, settling her head right next to Sylvie's neck.

"i'll make you special breakfast tomorrow, that will be a start."

Kaylee nodded quietly, wiping her nose with a tissue and sitting on the edge of the bed. when Sylvie left to go check on Malaki, she tugged off her jeans and tossed them in a heap. then went the cardigan. she was a little more violent with her undergarments, pulling harshly at her panties and bra and thrusting them into the laundry with such a force that her wrist made a snapping noise with the effort.

she pulled on a pair of pajamas, not really bothering to check if they matched before getting out a set for Sylvie.

She pulled one of her stuffed toys into her lap, a medium sized lavender coloured kuromi plush and held it tight to her chest, resting her chin on its head. she waited patiently for Sylvie to return.

”Shhh… it’s okay, don’t apologize for anything, my sun… I don’t mind, not at all. Sure I’ll borrow something, just as long as you rest.”

[She picks her up with surprising strength, speaking softly as she stands up.]

“I’ll take care of checking up on him, okay? Nothings gonna happen to him on my watch, trust me.”

[She begins to walk down the hall, carefully opening the door to the bedroom and setting Kaylee down.]

“I’m gonna go check on the kid and be right back, okay?”

Kaylee nodded quietly, wiping her nose with a tissue and sitting on the edge of the bed. when Sylvie left to go check on Malaki, she tugged off her jeans and tossed them in a heap. then went the cardigan. she was a little more violent with her undergarments, pulling harshly at her panties and bra and thrusting them into the laundry with such a force that her wrist made a snapping noise with the effort.

she pulled on a pair of pajamas, not really bothering to check if they matched before getting out a set for Sylvie.

She pulled one of her stuffed toys into her lap, a medium sized lavender coloured kuromi plush and held it tight to her chest, resting her chin on its head. she waited patiently for Sylvie to return.

Eventually Sylvie came back, gently stepping in.

“He’s doing pretty good as far as I can tell, no signs of alchohol poisoning. He isn’t pale, blue-tinged, cold, or clammy at all which is all good news. No breathing issues, too.”

She runs a hand through her hair. She turns back to look at Kaylee, shoulders relaxing as a fond huff and smile escapes her.

“You sure seem comfy, don’t worry, I’ll join you soon. Just need to know where the PJs are.”

Kaylee handed her the pajamas silently.

"i feel bad. he asked to sleep in my bed tonight. but like, i dunno. he wanted to be in the room with me. should- should i go get him? set up a sleeping bag?" she questioned, closing her eyes and turning away so Sylvie could change if she wanted.

"i'm gonna ground him for the day tomorrow. i just- he needs some kind of consequences. nothing major but like, no leaving the house." she explained.

"sh-should i get him a sleeping bag and have him sleep in here? i mean, the sweetie is sick, i should let him have at least a little comfort? right? is that the right thing to do here?" she rambled.

[Love. It felt a little strange to say and she gently cradled her face. She had changed into the top that actually fit a little small on her, the sweatpants clinging to her waist.]

“If you want to do that, we can and definitely ground him for a while.”

[She reassures softly before Kaylee can say.]

“And no, that isn’t too harsh, just what’s necessary.”
