Sunday

Woke up as early as I planned but procrastinated my run till 11.00 which is fine even though I bumped into more people than usual.

Made some lemon water and worked on some math problems for an exam on Tuesday.

I also finished the Great Gatsby last week (contemplating on doing a book review) and I’m a quarter into Jane Eyre, which I greatly enjoy until now.

Things I did today:

studied for math

went on 40 min run

personal reading (Jane Eyre)

washed my hair

cleaned up my room

Late school start so I was able to make some lunch to take with me. Classes today were French, Math, Gym, History and English.

Received my English essay back with full marks which is hard to achieve in my country and school so im very happy yayy.

Also got two roses from my friends which I hanged up to dry in my room to preserve them.

In the evening I went to the library to study some vocab and finish some physics exercises.

No school today bc of a religious holiday, which means I got to sleep in and go for a run afterwards.

I finally finished my spanish book report which took me ages but now it’s done yayy. I also included a drawing of the main character bc the teacher of this class really liked my artwork of a previous book.

Went on a walk around the lake with my family and visiting relatives and had a relaxing evening typing out vocab.

Things I did today:

finished spanish book report

went on a 40 min run

cleaned my room up

typed out spanish vocab

did some personal reading (atm it’s The Great Gatsby)

Didn’t post for a while now bc I was on holiday but wanted to share some productive things I managed to do ( and some cute cats ;) ).

I finished reading Dracula and it’s one of my new favorite books, I would really recommend it if u like gothic literature or classics in general.

Another book I started and finished was Beowulf which was also very enjoyable but sometimes a bit confusing with all the names that were thrown around but I liked it alot.

For spanish class I completed a book called la contadora de películas, about a girl in ca 1960s Chile ( Spoilers it had a sad ending but I also heavily recommend it).

I was also able to learn some french vocab and most importantly relax and rest after the quarter.

Today was a long but productive day. School started early and I had Spanisch, Law, Physiks, Math and English classes and studied until 19.30 in the library.

I noticed I hadn’t finished a topic so I still need to catch up a little but all in all I managed to finish alot.

The evening was quite relaxing I prepped breakfast and lunch and even tried a new face mask.

Late school start so I could wash my hair in the morning.

French, Math, History and English classes today. The english essay went fine, I’m hoping for a good grade so I can reach my goal of having a 1 there.

My friend and I went to this café we like which has a quiet separate area where people can study, it’s great.

Unfortunately I had to leave earlier than planned bc of a family event so I’ll hope to finish the rest tomorrow.

Only math and art classes today, we thankfully got a free afternoon.

My friends and I used this opportunity to visit the bigger library in the city to research a bit for our final thesis.

Sadly I didn’t find alot of information and some books are in spanish which is one of my second languages but still not easy for me to read fluently yet.

It was a really nice day though and I hope to read the works I took home.

Today I had a free afternoon but I sadly didn’t manage to complete everything I planned to do.

That’s not great bc I have a math exam in 2 days but yeahhhh…

Not the best mentality but I’m trying not to beat myself up over things like that.

I had German and Geography classes today, they both went well and the Geography substitute was really nice and explained everything well. Went to the library to study in the later afternoon.

eight step guide on how to study (as a third year pre-med student with ADHD and a 4.0)

welcome to my step by step guide on how to study. i have a love-hate relationship with studying, but this is what works to get me going. getting started is the hardest part, i promise.

step one: prep your space. get a glass of water or coffee or energy drink and make sure you have everything you need out and ready. throw your phone across the room or just put it out of sight. you will forget that other fun things exist (like tik tok) if you cannot see it. out of sight, out of mind.

step two: sit at your desk (or table or a general designated study space with a chair). studying in bed never works like you think it will and studying on the floor (while enriching) will do nothing but hurt your back from hunching over. sitting at your desk makes you feel much more productive (most of my study sessions start by just forcing myself to sit in my chair).

step three: put some music or ambience on. if i need to use my brain more i'll opt for some fantasy-themed forest ambience or sci-fi droning sounds. your brain is tricked into thinking that you're having fun if music is on, but plot twist! you're actually being productive. music i turn to is soft piano, video game soundtracks (genshin, undertale, minecraft, stardew valley) or lofi, but your mileage may vary. DO NOT do music with words unless you want to be distracted.

step four: make a list of need-to-dos and rank them based on priority and time. start by doing an activity that will take a short amount of time. by completing a short to-do, it builds the motivation to keep going.

step five: start a study timer. i bought a physical study timer that is so satisfying to wind and set and watch the time tick by, but a desktop one works just fine. set your timer based on how much energy you have. some days i go for 60 minutes, some days i do 25, it all just depends. as a study session goes on, it's normal for your amount of energy to go down. i may do 60-45-30-20 then take a long break. know thyself and thine needs!

step six: lock in. do not think about what you are doing, simply do it. do it before your brain has the chance to convince you it doesn't like what you're doing.

step seven: take regular, controlled, and useful breaks. do not start an activity on your break that will break your flow. walk around, stretch, check your phone, refill your drink, have a snack. reward yourself! you're doing great, i promise.

step eight: long break. do something that will rest your mind. maybe watch youtube, eat a meal, play a video game, read a few chapters of a book. be proud of the work you've accomplished.

Trying to be more productive and creative so I’m going to try to hold myself accountable/ do things I like and post some stuff here.

We currently have an economic week at my school which means I have a bit more time to go study in the library in the evening. yayy

One of my goals for this semester is starting to study earlier and I’m pretty happy with my progress bc I’ve already started learning for an exam next week which is a very big step for me bc I’m a chronic the night before procrastinator.
