I’ll set the scene...picture a woman in her twenties in a job which she cannot progress in, in an Industry she doesn’t feel passionate about. She’s struggling by the time the end of the month arrives. She doesn’t have the money to show her loves ones just how much she loves, is thankful for them and supports them. She feels like a butterfly stuck in a chrysalis, in between what she was and what she wants to be. She wants to grow, expand and better herself. She wants more out of life.Â
So, tearful, she lifts her head to the night sky and asks the universe: “What’s the deal? Don’t I deserve to be happy? Don’t I deserve abundance to come my way?” She’s not after fancy cars or designer handbags. She wants to share, to give, to make people happy, and let those she loves now that she’s alright, that they don’t have to worry. And if she can do that by being creative and making people happy at the same time, all the better.
So she asks the universe for it. She asks for a change of lifestyle, to be comfortable all through the month and not just in the first few days of payday, with enough spare to save, to have enough to support her partner with the living costs, easing his burdens.
When does she want it? Now. She’s ready. She’s deserving. She’s brave enough to cast aside her former, weaker self. She’s strong. She is the universe incarnate and she can do anything. She’s not afraid of working hard. No mountain work reaching the top of it flat.Â
And nobody will see this new self coming. They will dismiss and nit-pick and tell her she’s narrow minded, naive, with tunnel vision. They’ll say she’ll chicken out, regret it, that she didn’t think it through. But truthfully, she is just shining so brightly that they don’t see the phoenix within the light, rising from the ashes of her former self.Â
That same night she applies for jobs. She steps up. She ups her game.Â
And the very next morning, she gets a call. She attends an interview that same day. She nails it. She’s the best they’ve ever seen. She comes off brilliant. She gets called back to a trial/training session. She impresses, she smiles, she fills the building with her light. She’s here, she’s what you’re looking for and she is more than capable. She can do this! She enjoys herself. Everyone there is supportive.Â
She gets called at the end. There isn’t a negative piece of feedback. They offer her the job. She accepts. She hands in her notice her her old workplace the next day. They didn’t see it coming either. Sure she’ll miss them all and will look back at fond memories but its time to move on, time to spread those wings. Time to fly. But she wants to do more than fly, she wants to soar.
That woman is me. I am strong enough. I can do it. I WILL succeed and when I sit on the top of my dream after seizing it, holding onto it with an unshakeable grip, I will smile, forgive you and say....I told you so.
