TEN CANDLES is an apocalyptic, tragic orror one-shot I'm looking to find a small group for (or someone to do this 1x1 with) to play with either in-game on something like WC:UE/WoW or text-based! This is a time-based one-shot done in one session ideally, with the founding concept being -

the characters that come into this story will not survive.

Ten Candles is a game about telling the last living moments of these little characters as they fight to survive against a sunless apocalypse. This is a tragic horror story intentionally - for when the final candle falls,

all will fall in darkness' clutches.

The gameplay is very simple and made to be done in one sitting with zero prep, I'm here to help y'all out with it!! <3

part of my job as archivist for a LGBTQ center involves working with an interviewing elder queers, and the disconnect between our generation and theirs is so upsettingly palpable. so many young queers think that elders aren't up-to-date on identity politics and are "set in their ways" when it comes to understanding the nuances of gender and sexuality, but that is so incredibly far from the truth.

if anything, the real problem is in the reverse. young queers aren't giving the time of day to our elders and its only alienating all of us from our shared history. just about every elder I've spoken to is doing their best to understand how our identity politics have evolved and is actively supportive of our generation adding our language and experiences to our sprawling rainbow tapestry.

there is also this strange idea that elder queers no longer contribute to that tapestry, that their time is gone and its only the youth making progress. but again, that prevailing idea is just alienating our generations from one another. most elders I've spoken to are extremely active in the community and work hard to do what they can to preserve our histories and assist in current activism.

the fact of the matter is that we are losing our elders, both to time and estrangement, and it is critical that we make conscious efforts to bridge the gap before its too late.

TLDR: We have to do better when it comes to including queer elders in our current activism. They are our history, they are our family, and we need to give them the same love they give to us.

i feel like bluestar works in pretty much any ship you put her in. blueoak is tragic and full of yearning and tbh i like it just as is (altho personally id give em more months of buildup instead of them only meeting up once), crookedblue works as escapism for both of them trying to get away from their tragic, suffocating lives, bluerose is a sweet childhood friends to lovers ship and they could get pushed together closer as thistleclaw gets worse and worse throughout the story (I also like them raising whitekit as both of his aunts and they grow closer that way), and then blueyellow is also awesome as a later in life "oh we dont fucking CARE about forbidden romance anymore" ship, they've both gone through so much and lost their children and been denied happiness for the sake of being emotionless, practical figureheads for their clans, they're old and tired and while they try to keep up their roles in public, they're sneaking out to sleep in each others nests when no one can see.
