Reddit Forums Move to Ban Links to X After Elon Musk's Salute

The Nazi-like salute from Musk during a Trump inauguration event sparks multiple subreddits on Reddit to consider blocking links to X/Twitte

Listen, I am absolutely living for the energy on countless subreddits today and I need to see that same sparkle here.

I know there are Xwitter holdouts in the Sims community because it's still a primary communication platform for The Sims... or perhaps because some folks are too vain to abandon a platform where they can boast a high public follower count or "famous" mutuals... ew 🙄

How can we help shift our community away from supporting a literal Nazi with every passive link click or mindless scroll?

Can we... ban Xwitter links on all our Discord servers? call in people who post X links like we have (tried) with CF? share screenshots instead of X links when the next "leak" comes out?

How can we push The Sims team to shift their communications strategy to other, less harmful platforms? (cough, Bluesky)

This feels incredibly urgent to me as an American but it should feel urgent to you too, regardless of where you live! Just look at Elon's recent backing of the right wing extremist AfD party in Germany. The man has enough money to buy any government he wants, let's not let him have our eyeballs for free.

and of course there will be holdouts just like there still are with CurseForge, but guess what? the Venn diagram of people still using X and CF will probably be one completely overlapping circle 😑 and whether they’re there because they’re literal Nazis or because they care more about what they can get from those platforms than what they take away from others… we don’t fucking want to sit with them anyway. 😌

in my save that I’ve been playing on and off for two years… it’s been hectic. Vladislaus Straud had sent his vampire minions into Moonwood to finally finish off the werewolves. Rory Oaklow on the other hand had different plans as she was the one to end his life, heart in hand – before the battle arose, she passed down her pack to Lou Howell, knowing that she was on borrowed time. Mother Demetriou had come to avenge her lover Vlad, leaving Rory as just a legend spoke about for years to come. Four years later, here we are. Lou revamping the Wildfangs but keeping it the way Rory would like it. Let me introduce to you, the new Wildfangs: Lou Howell, Alpha; Thalia Apland, Beta & the Omegas, Danika Pack, Tristan Howell (husband to Lou), Kiril & Bianca Barov!
