Regulus Arcturus Black. 21. Ex-Death Eater
MORSMORDRE | Biography | Threads
Regulus turned his head toward's Alecto's body, a smile on his own lips as he traced a spiral on her calve out of boredom. "Mmm.. I have." He said, a sense of pride forming in his words. "It's hard. But... You can do it. I'm sure of it." Regulus' gaze lowered towards his friend's face. "I can kind of do it... but only for like.. one spell because it's an easy one." He explained with a shrug. "Doing non-verbal... That's what I want to master. What would you want to use it for?"
"I've been practicing non-verbal spells, it gets easier" she hummed softly, enjoying this moment with her friend. Her head was always too loud, so many voices screaming at her, it was nice to feel the quiet, even if it was for a couple of hours. "I can help you with that" she mused. "And you help me with non-verbal..." the redhead offered. "I dunno... I like the idea of achieving things, but also it can be useful. What if I'm disarmed or I don't have a wand with me and something happens?" She had felt powerless her entire life, she had been such a meek little thing, and her father's favorite target. But not now. Not anymore. And she intended to keep it that way.
"Does it? Thank Merlin because I'm tired of constantly failing at it." He muttered with a roll of his eyes before flopping his arms above him dramatically. "And of course I'll help you." He gave her a gentle nudge with his leg, one of reassurance. "Nothing will happen, Alecto. I mean, it's not like we're going to be constantly attacking people, you know?" He said confidently. At least, that's what he thought.
He paused for a moment before finally sitting up. A memory had flashed before him as he finished talking. An incident that was never truly spoken about or one that he understood, but he felt like in that moment... he had to say something. "Also, you'll never be alone, you know. You have people who will have your back. Like me."

Her long red hair fell down the couch, touching the expensive carpet floor, her legs hanging from where her back and head should be. She turned her head to the side only to find her friend's knees next to her. "Have you ever tried doing wandless magic?" She asked curiously. "I think I could master that..." she murmured thoughtfully. Alecto looked at her perfectly manicured hands and flexed her fingers, studying her hands as if they where the most fascinating thing in the world. "I mean... how hard could it be, right?"
Hearing a voice had Regulus a bit… confused. He turned around to see that the person talking… was talking to him. Regulus had to do a double take. He looked around him, behind him, and then back and the blonde hair man.
He pointed a finger towards his dishevelled self. “Me?” He asked incredulously. Not at the morose part, that was accurate. But gorgeous? With his long hair greasy and knotted, clothes having seen much better days than today…
But he was hungry. He furrowed his brows at the man, taking a moment to reply. “I can’t pay for it…” That wasn’t something Regulus had ever had to say before. He didn’t even try to take a step forward though. He had to be cautious, even with someone so utterly oblivious to his situation.
Gilderoy tilted his head to one side, amused. Pointedly he glanced around the mostly empty street and then back at Regulus. Did the man really not get asked to join people for dinner that often? Gil knew he had friends so it seemed improbable. Weren't all the Black's supposed to have impeccable social skills? Bless him. "No darling, I was talking to the thousands of people behind you. Of course I mean you."
He reached out and tugged on Regulus's sleeve. "Don't worry, I can cover your meal."
There was enough left from his book advance that he could cover one person's meal, pay rent, and still be okay. Plus he did have a job. Regulus was adorable for his concern but honestly it was one meal, not a four-course feast.
Even that had made Regulus confused for a second. Thousands of people? He had just checked... Oh. It was a joke. He felt his cheeks grow warm, but he didn't have a chance to say anything before he was gently tugged on. He simply allowed himself to be pulled towards Gilderoy.
It had taken him a moment to realize who it was, but when he did, a look of understanding washed over him. Now it all made sense. Sort of. "Okay, uh, thank you." He said quietly as they seemed to make their way inside. Though, his embarrassment got worse as he felt quite... ridiculous with his current situation. "I didn't mean to disturb you or anything." He muttered as they sat down, his eyes looking around to see if anyone else looked too familiar.
Before the Fall
Sirius,
I've written this so many times and I have yet to not burn each piece of parchment once I've finished. Perhaps this will be the one that stays… Perhaps not. I've been having… second thoughts about everything. I wish I could be more candid, but you know what would happen if anyone else got hold of this. But I feel like you knew… You knew I would. It's why you never gave up on me.
Why didn't you give up? Why could you not have just let me go? Maybe then I wouldn't be in this predicament… But I'm lying to myself. What's happening isn't…. It's not what I thought it would be like. When put into practice, the beliefs, the reasonings… It's paper thin. There's nothing to stand on. It was all lies.
Sirius, it was all lies.
Why would mother and father lie to us like that? Why would the family make me believe it was the right thing if it wasn't? Why does everyone else agree with it? Why didn't I listen to you?
No… I can't send this. This was stupid. It'll be fine. I'll be fine. I can conform. I'm not like you.

Gilderoy was eating out, again. Not entirely unprecedented given that last time he'd tried making himself food he had ended up burning the pot and also somehow one of his kitchen walls. In his defense he had warned his mother that he really hadn't gotten any better since the last time she asked.
He hadn't ordered yet, had only just sat down. It was his favorite seat in the whole place: he could see everyone and everyone could see him.
Well, not everyone apparently. Because Regulus was standing outside the pub looking like a little lost kitten, completely unaware Gilderoy was now actively pouting at him through a window.
"Right, this is ridiculous." He said to himself before standing up, telling his waiter he'd be right back he promised and slipping outside. "You look particularly morose. Come eat with me, gorgeous I'm excellent company for the morose."
