Home. He has to rule our country and he took his wife and daughter with him. It’s, um.. been quiet for me since they left.
Oh, I am very sorry. It’s hard to not have family around.Â
I’m okay. It’s a little weird without my brother being here, though.
Where did he go?
Well, how have things been otherwise?
I dunno, really. Fine, I suppose. And you?
Neither have I. It could be the weather. The colder months can change a person demeanor.
I suppose that could be it.Â
No– no. I’m sorry. I’ve just been spacing out lately.
It’s okay-- really. I’ve not been the best of company lately either.Â
“I– I have to be honest, I wasn’t entirely listening…”
Oh, that’s fine. I can just go...
I’ve not been about recently, that’s all.
I see.. and how are you feeling?
Okay. I suppose I have been kind of down lately.Â
I’ve not been about recently, that’s all.
Sweet Escape | Charlotte and Edward
“I know, Eddie,” Lottie said with a small smile. “I know you’re scared, but I need to learn how to do things for myself.” Lottie moved closer to him, looping er arm through his. “You know I’ll always want you there, Eddie,” Lottie said, leaning her head on his shoulder. “I’m just not a little kid anymore.”
Edward moved closer to her, placing an arm over her shoulder. Sitting in that position brought him back to his childhood, one where he’d sit on the bed and cuddle with his siblings while watching movies. “You’re a smart and wonderful lady.” He smiled, probably sounding like their father. “You know I’ll support you whenever, right?”
Lottie let herself sit there, half on the couch and half on Edward. She smiled, cuddling closer into him. She wanted to be independent, yes, but this was the closest she had felt to any of her siblings for a very long time. “I know,” she said, with a smile, glancing up at him. “I love you, Eddie.”
“I love you too, Chari…"He replied back, using one of her old nicknames. It had been a long while since he has last called her anything but Charlotte, and this felt like a good time for him to start letting loose again. “Do you want to watch a movie?”
Lottie grinned. It had been years since she’d last heard Edward use his pet name for her– or call her anything other than Charlotte. She felt like they were making an important step, moving forward in a good direction. Perhaps he could adapt to her growing up. Maybe he could accept that Lottie would do more adult things now. It was time for Lottie to start dealing with her own problems. “A movie sounds great,” Lottie grinned. She sat up, knowing that Edward would have to put it in, but as soon as she returned, she latched back onto him as if he’d run away once she let go.
Edward had to grow up quickly, and maybe that was why he helped his parents shelter her so much. He took it overboard because he didn’t want to see her grow up and leave him, like how Elizabeth will eventually leave him. However, that was all in the past. They were heading towards a better future and he could tell. "What are you getting?” He grinned and waited for her to come back. He held inter her. Tightly, kissing the side of her head.
Lottie scanned through the movies he had and bit her lip before turning back to him. “Its a surprise,” she grinned, her curls bouncing as she stood up with the DVD in her hand. Lottie put the disc into his DVD player and bounced back to Edward. She sat down, snuggling into his side. As he kissed her head, she smiled and leaned her head on his shoulder.Â
Seconds later, music began to play as the first words were spoken: “Once upon a time...”
Keith turned at the voice, a bit startled, though he eased when he saw it was Lottie. “Maybe. Or perhaps I just have bad eyes.” He said, offering an arched eyebrow to her.
“What brings you here?” He asked. No one had come by in the several hours he had been there. It almost surprised him to see anyone here, even if it was a public area.
“I was joking,” Lottie smiled with a shrugged. She really liked Keith. She had not spent much time with him, but he didn’t sugar coat. He told you how things were, no beating around the bush.Â
“Looking for something to read,” Lottie sighed, wondering if she ought to tell him what sort of book she was looking for and why. Instead, Lottie stayed silent.
Keith offered the smallest hint of a smile. Lottie was a sweet girl. Unlike her brother, she was good and tolerable. He didn’t mind her here. “I know.”
Keith glanced at his book and shut it after remembering the page. He stood up and stretched his back, face unable to hide the ache that shot through it. “What genre?” He asked lightly, picking up his own book.
Lottie smiled and blushed. “Oh,” she breathed nervously. She looked around at the spines of the books that surrounded her and then back to Keith.
“I-- er-- I’m not too sure. Something real. Not like non-fiction necessarily, but something that will make me feel.” Lottie furrowed her brows, unsure if her explanation made sense. “Somethings that’s not just fake and pretty.” Lottie paused again.Â
“Does that make sense?”

Is this a normal prank?
elizabeth–ofengland:
[she sighed, shaking her head] They should be happy I don’t bash their bloody brains in with my fist, but at least you’re alright.
[She smiled a bit, blushing] I’m okay, Lizzie. No bashing need.Â
Keith rolled his neck as he looked up from his book. He’d been reading in one of the common rooms for a few hours now. His legs ere crossed, book nestled comfortably in his lap S he rubbed the back of his neck now. He had a day off for the first time in forever and he was spending it reading. No wonder people thought he was a stick in the mud. “I think I need glasses.. He murmured to himself, pinching the bridge of his nose now.
Lottie was browsing the books, hoping to find something interesting. Lottie didn’t read very often, but when she did, she was big of fiction. She loved fantasy-- stories to take her away.Â
Lottie was more aware of the world now. It was ugly and cruel. People didn’t always get happy endings. Part of her wanted to read her fantasies, but the other part of her wanted to read something that felt real.Â
As she turned a corner, she caught sight of Keith’s fiery hair and grinned.Â
“Maybe you’re just getting old.”
leonard-of-austria:
Don’t worry about it, some you’ll be glad to not know.
Why? Are they mean?
Is this a normal prank?
elizabeth–ofengland:
[Lizzie returned with a lavender robe, handing it to her sister] Here you are. God, I swear some people here are just irritating…you know I could find out who did it and give them a piece of my mind, you know?
Thanks. [She slipped the robe over her towel, giving herself two layers] I know [She smiled] But its okay. I’m just happy they left my towel.
