"Wh - whoa! What's happening?!" The path was splitting open beneath his feet! Luke gripped the strap of his bag tightly, wobbling unsteadily as the crevice grew and deepened in the cobblestones. "Professor!"

"Luke! Come now!" The Professor reached for him and Luke --

leapt, a literal leap of faith as he stretched an arm out as far as it could go and the Professor, thankfully, caught a hold of his forearm. Together, they worked to swing Luke's weight up and over the deepening hole, the size more of less of a car, and then -- a blinding flash of purple-pink light. Luke lost track of all sense of time for a moment, like the clocks of the world stood still, a sensation he could never have identified before that moment and one he had a feeling he'd never feel again.

The light cleared, and the hole he'd leapt over was gone.

In its place: a lady. Not a very well-dressed lady, either.

"Huh?" Luke blinked and blinked at her, trying to clear the memory of purple-white light from his eyes, while the Professor shifted his stance beside him (defensive? Luke wasn't sure), with a quiet, "Hm."

"A lady?" Luke said. "Wasn't there a hole?"

"She seems to be injured," Professor Layton said. His eyes were combing the environment now, looking for any suspicious cobblestones, but there weren't any presently looking like they wanted to evaporate into smoke. Even having seen it happen himself, the Professor somewhat doubted the authenticity of the performance.

Luke looked closer at the lady. She was bleeding.

"We should help," said the Professor, already crossing in her direction (Luke had to jog to catch up). "There, now," the Professor said, as he touched the lady's shoulder, and helped her up with his other hand, "Are you feeling alright?"

"How did you come out of a giant hole?" Luke asked, incredulous.

"Luke," the Professor chastised.

"Are you hurt?" he asked, with only marginally less enthusiasm.

"Whoa! So this is who built you?!" The tiny robot (Luke was talking to the tiny robot) danced in his hand, head spinning in place. Luke had evidently taught it a few new dance moves. It had been his hobby for about the last week. Robot clasped in both hands, Luke offered Charlie (that was the robot's name) out to her, positively beaming, "Say hi to your mum, Charlie!"

@ofyorkshire i'm just tagging you here but i don't actually mind who takes him. i just. had a little bit of him and thought 'i will give him to spark! i love her!' and so here he is

"Hey!"

That didn't look right! Luke stopped at the mouth of the shoddy alley, thumb under the brim of his cap and finger outstretched, accusatory: "Stop there! What do you think you're doing?!" Being a gentleman, and also not a fool, he didn't step fully into the alley so as to not incite a fight, but that didn't mean he wasn't thinking about it. "Leave him alone! I - I'll call the police, you know!"
