“Well, I know for some cases of Mega Evolution might not be entirely dependant on the pokemon. Aerodactyl’s form is said to be what the pokemon truly looked like millions of years ago. Perhaps other fossil pokemon can mega evolve then.”

Quentin said, grabbing a pen and making another note in his journal. Finding out why only certain pokemon could mega evolve would make an interesting bit of research.

“Being a scientist is very difficult,” Quentin said, sighing heavily. Countless nights worth of work all came rushing back to him in an instant. He was just starting to cheer up, and his mood was right back where he started. “Yeah. It’s tough. It makes you want to rip your hair out, and tear up all your books, and just get a normal job somewhere! And yet…” Quentin closed his eyes, leaning back again.

“That brief moment when you finally piece together some bits of the puzzle, or you notice something you never saw before, it just makes it all worth it. You might not make a groundbreaking discovery, but the feeling that you’re making the world a better place, or you’re finding answers to life’s big questions, or even the feeling that you’re just the smartest person around. That makes it all worth it.”

Quentin opened his eyes, sat up straight, and placed his hands on the table.

“Well, that got deep. Anyway, the problem with going to a new region and trying to find something undiscovered is that you don’t know what you’re going to discover in the first place. You know?”

There was something about the way he looked when he was talking about his work. It was a look that her Father had sometimes...she didn’t really get why,  but talking with this person kind of helped her understand. 

Maybe? 

“...but that’s what makes it fun right?” Mimi said in response to what Quentin said. Her mind wandered to the parts unknown...foreign regions she’s never been to before Things she wouldn’t be able to believe unless if she saw it with her own eyes.

“Like you said right? To find those answers to life’s questions. Feeling like you’re the smartest person in the world. What better way to do it than to just explore somewhere new?”  It was certainly exciting to think about.

a matter of trust 👑 mimi & iris

Trust was the main ingredient, one could say, in the way Iris trained her dragons. Some of her team, she’d raised them from hatchlings, while others came along in their progressive years. Gaining a Pokemon’s trust was vital to the process. Iris was relatively pro at it now, but she wouldn’t go so far as to let that thought go to her head - after all, it was her Charizard who remained painfully resilient in this situation, bringing doubt to everything she thought she’d known about training Pokemon.

She thought maybe a change of scenery might encourage him to come out of his shell a little bit, and so outside of the perimeters of Opelucid City she took him. It was a quiet evening, and she thought it would be the perfect setting to try and light the fire within him, so to speak.

The creature had been brought out of his Pokeball, and that was about as far as she’d gotten. He’d somehow managed to scale a tree, and the Champion stood at the base of it, arms resting on her hips, yelling up at him.

“Come on! It’s not going to be that bad! Just give it a chance!” // @littlemimibee

It was the furthest she had been allowed to travel on her alone here in Unova.

Normally her father was very reluctant to let her even leave the City, so it was a big surprise to see him agree to let her travel to Opelucid City. There must’ve been something that changed his mind. He grumbled something about “Getting some experience.”

So here she was traveling on her own and partaking in the ocassional pokemon battle. Mimi quickly learned that she had much to learn about pokemon battling and thus was eager to learn from the best. The Dragon Gym Leader Drayden was someone she had always heard much about. Maybe she could learn something from him if she asked nicely? 

Mimi was lost in her thoughts when she suddenly heard someone shout something off the path. Unable to shake off the worry and curiosity she quickly dashed towards the sound and peeked over to see a teenager standing before a Charizard.

A charizard?!  Could any of her pokemon be able to even touch that thing? The teen didn’t look like she was in much trouble or worried...no...she was more frustrated?

“H-Hey! Are you okay?!” Mimi shouted not stepping out from behind the tree though she was leaning over.

Moros winced and raised a hand to block the light as the girl practically blinded him with her flashlight. Fortunately, she lowered it a moment later; it would have been a real pain to try and talk to her with the full glare of it in his eyes like that.

The look on her face suggested she found something about him strange—his appearance, presence, attitude, or maybe all of the above. It wouldn’t be the first time. Fortunately, he wasn’t prone to feeling self-conscious.

“I was only doing research,” he said. Would she buy it if he said he had just fallen asleep and happened to not be noticed by whoever closed the place up? It was an incredibly flimsy lie, so probably not. Though, if they were both in a similar situation, he didn’t really need to come up with excuses.

“If the library is closed, how did you get in?” It was a rhetorical question. Clearly both of them had their ways around locked doors, and their own business in the library after hours. “I’d say you’re not supposed to be here either.”

Ouch.  Even if it was true...it still hurt to hear him point it out so bluntly.

“I-I’m more allowed to be here than you are! Just so you know I happen to be working here for a while!” Mimi puffed up angrily as she squinted her eyes trying to get a good look at the man. There was something off about the man that was hard to pin down. 

Maybe it was the fact that she had difficulty really remembering what he looked like despite his appearance. Or maybe it was the fact that she had difficulty really focusing on him...it was like he was melting into the shadow despite the light. Her eyes wandered towards the one thing she could clearly see and it was the book on the table.

... Well at least he didn’t seem like he was going to do anything. She couldn’t help but wonder what was so important that he’d fall asleep researching.

“....What’s so interesting that you’d fall asleep trying to read?”

“Smart kid,” Quentin said, complimenting Mimi on her knowledge. Although, it felt a bit pandering coming from someone who looked as young as Quentin did. “I’ve heard of the sundial there before. I’ve never gotten a chance to see it in action.”

“I’ve also never met Professor Sycamore…I haven’t met any of the big-name professors…” Quentin admitted after a moment of silence. He looked down at his book again and slowly flipped through the pages. “I haven’t really done anything groundbreaking like them, honestly I probably never will. I said I was a scientist…I never said I was a good one.”

Quentin pretended to write something down in a journal. He was feeling a little awkward at his sudden admission, and he was quickly trying to come up with something else he could talk about.

“Mega Evolution is interesting though. I’ve always wanted to Mega Evolve my Lucario just to see what it would do to him. Although, I don’t think he’d appreciate being a test subject like that.” He said, chuckling lightly to relieve the tension. “Still, I might start looking into it. It’s always good to be curious.”

Mega Evolution.

It had been quite the hot topic back in the day, but now it’s mostly faded away into obscurity. Though the trainers more interested in getting stronger have certainly pursued it’s capabilities.

“Well...I don’t blame your Lucario for not wanting to go through it.” Mimi mused to herself as she remembered the outburst of controversy when it had been revealed that Mega Evolution actually puts the pokemon into a considerable amount of pain and stress when used.

Maybe that was why it required a lot of trust and bond between a trainer and their pokemon to Mega Evolve?

“I-I’m curious too! I want to look more into it because...well I wonder if it’s only a few specific pokemon who are capable of Mega Evolving or if any pokemon can do it? I even heard that there’s this strange thing going on in a foreign region that’s kinda like Mega Evolution too!” Mimi said showcasing her knowledge.

Hm... Maybe being a scientist was her natural path in life? This would have to be something she should consider further.

“Well being a scientist is pretty difficult isn’t it? It’s hard to find anything new or anything that could cause a breakthrough. Maybe you should go to other regions and find undiscovered stuff there?”

Though...that sounded more like an explorer than a scientist. Maybe the two weren’t so different?

Moros was on his feet before he’d fully registered what happened, body carrying him on instinct into a defensive stance. He blinked, trying to figure out the source of the threat that had woken him. Then he remembered where he was.

The library was still dark, but the figure nearby was lit by a fallen flashlight. A young girl, visibly frightened. Ah. He glanced aside at the table he’d been occupying. He must have fallen asleep while doing research. Even his notebook was still open.

His tense stance relaxed. She must have seen him and been startled. Well. He hadn’t anticipated still being in the library when people arrived the next day. How unfortunate.

Then again… why the flashlight? It was hard to tell what time it was, but if she worked here it didn’t make sense that she would use a flashlight to get around. She definitely wasn’t a security guard.

“Sorry,” he said, putting his questions aside for the moment to show he wasn’t a danger. “I guess I fell asleep.” He didn’t know what else to say or how to explain himself, especially when he was starting to think that she might not belong here either.

She quickly scrambled for the flashlight and pointed it directly at the man before realizing her mistake and pointing it downwards so the light didn’t shine directly into his eyes.

The guy looked.... What was the word? Suspicious? Scary? Weird?

Grungy....

Yeah. That was probably the word. Mimi was giving him a strange expression before she caught herself once more. This was certainly a strange situation...neither of them were really supposed to be here, but Mimi was certainly more allowed to be here than this person was!

Probably.

“Wh-What are you doing here? Wait? How did you get in here? The Library is closed!” Mimi demanded glaring at the man suspiciously trying to act tough despite the fact she had screamed earlier.

Mimi squeaked and immediately jumped back brandishing her flashlight directly at the source of the sound. It was as if something heavy had suddenly slammed it’s foot onto a heavy branch! The light trembled slightly as it shone upon....

Nothing. Literally nothing.

 “......”

Dammit. She was looking and acting completely ridiculous.  What was she so afraid of? Ghosts? Who said anything about ghosts? She wasn’t scared of any ghosts!

“....Astraeli get off me!”  Mimi said as she felt her Purrloin’s claws dig deeper into her as her “fearless” dark type had latched onto her when they both heard the noise. To think she even had the gal to give her that smug look when Mimi expressed worry about ghosts.

“You’re a dark type! You’re strong against ghost! S-Stop being so scared and-”  Mimi protested as Astreali refused to let go.

Mimi screamed again as Astreali also jumped into air and latched onto her head.

No Fun | [Ash & Mimi | EVENT]

Mimi is quick to hush Ash and get her to stop panicking– and saying that sort of works, if only because it grates on the Cooltrainer’s nerves.  “Stop panicking”?!  All their stuff is gone!  This is the right time to panic, if any!  Deep down, though, Ash knows she’s right, but the spite stops her from fully admitting that to herself.  Nonetheless, she’s in the midst of trying to calm down so that they can form a plan of action.  Maybe they should call the police first?  Or should they just go try and hunt these thieves down themselves?  Law enforcement could be so useless when it came to criminals, after all.

Ash is quickly drawn from these thoughts when Mimi speaks again, pointing out something in their camp that wasn’t there before.  It’s a Pokeball and some kind of envelope.  Perhaps this would be their first clue; maybe the criminals who took their things wanted the two to try and chase them down, or want a ransom for it or something like that.  Either way, the Cooltrainer darts over to get a good look at the envelope and Pokeball.  It’s a simple Premier Ball, pristine and shiny, but that’s not her immediate concern.  Note first, then they’ll see what’s up with the Premier Ball.

Picking up the envelope and tearing it open, Ash pulls the note out.  It’s printed on some cute paper with Sentret and trees decorating the corners.  Jeez, what kind of thieves were these…?  The note is handwritten in lovely and readable cursive, and as Ash reads on, she’s filled with both relief and a strange sense of rage that builds until she’s done.  No way.  No fucking way this was part of the camping trip.  After all that stress and fear, it’s all just part of the Radio Tower’s game?!  How horrible!

At least they gave the two another Pokemon to work with.  Hopefully it would be something worthwhile.  Silently, Ash holds out the note to Mimi for her to read herself, before picking up the Premier Ball.  She waits for the other to finish reading the note, before pressing the release button on the front of the ball, only for a Munchlax to be revealed in a flash of light.  Munchlax.  Those things were supposed to be incredibly lazy, weren’t they?  Of what use might it be in helping them find where the DJs had hidden their things?

Slowly, Ash shakes her head.  “Can you believe this?” she asks.  “Jeez, and I was wondering what the heck we had to find to win the Keystone.  All I’ve got is… a few Potions and some food I took in my bag with me.  They took everything else?  Like what the heck!  What if we need that stuff?!”  Now, the panic is entirely gone and is replaced with irritation and anger.  She gestures to the gift Pokemon the DJs provided aggressively.  “That thing better help us find that stuff, like, immediately!  We need to pack up camp and get going, right?!”

The frustration came as quickly as the relief had when Mimi found out that their stuff indeed had not been stolen, but was simply taken. That was a lot better.

Except no. No it wasn’t. It was still annoying and frustrating. Mimi thought this as she held the note in her hand as she read through the entire paper making sure she didn’t miss anything.

With a huff she tossed the paper onto the ground before bending down to pick it up, folding it, and stuffing it into her pockets. Mimi watched as Ash released a Munchlax from the premier ball. It took a moment to examine it’s surroundings before staring up and both Mimi and Ash.

“What’s the point in us packing if they were just gonna take it away in the first place?!” Mimi agrees shaking her head as she mourned over the many hours she had spent trying to think of what to do. Her eyes wandered towards the Munchlax who was standing still and staring at them.

According to some of the books she read these Munchlax were known for smelling back because they kept hiding food on their bodies which would end up rotting. 

She kept her distance just in case.

“Hopefully it knows where to go from where you’re at, so just believe in that Pokemon, believe in your partner, and believe in yourselves!  This is all about team work– that’s what’s going to make the dream work!”

Well she was already 1/3 in the whole believing thing...if she couldn’t believe in herself or Ash then they literally had nothing better to do than rely on this potentially smelly Munchlax.

“Hey. I know Munchlax’s like food, right? If you bring us to where we need to go then I’ll get you some food. Deal?” Mimi attempted to reason with the pokemon before packing up.

For a long time, Moros had avoided Castelia City out of concern he would be recognized. Eventually, however, he realized there was no place less likely to take note of his identity than the city. The place was full of unique individuals, and no one took a second glance at anyone.

It took a while for him to realize that also meant he could visit the Castelia Public Library. But the moment the thought occurred to him, he’d gone straight there and almost immediately found enough books to keep him occupied for the better part of the day. He wasn’t searching for anything in particular; any book that seemed like a somewhat credible source of information on legendary Pokémon went into the pile on the secluded table he was working at. And any facts that might be worth following up on went into the notebook he brought with him.

He wasn’t a fast reader, but he enjoyed it much more than he had while studying with the Sages. It was nice to focus on something outside the world around him for a little while. He’d been preoccupied with feelings of uselessness for so long, anything he could do to keep those thoughts at bay helped.

Eventually the afternoon turned into evening, and soon enough it was approaching the library’s closing hours. He could have come back in the morning, but he didn’t sleep well most nights; staying longer to keep reading would at least be a productive use of his time. It was easy enough to pretend to leave and stay hidden while the staff locked up for the night.

When he was sure the place was empty and that no one would notice a light or two flipping back on, he went back to his table at and continued with his work until late into the night. …Which was exactly why he was sleeping slumped over the table with his head on his arms, as the library was just beginning to open for the day.

Mimi opened the door to the Library slowly and snuck in before opening time. The entire building was dark which was why she had brought her flashlight as she headed over to the office where the employees were able to take their breaks. 

Where was it? Where was it? Where was it? Imagine the wave of horror when she set her bag down to find a massive tear in the corner. Small things have gone missing the entire day and only until she Gregor pointed it out did she realize why it was happening. 

All the things she lost was replaceable.  Worthless. 

Except for that little black box. The one her mother left her. The one that contained that strange gem.

She fumbled around looking in the breakroom before-

....

No no no no no...it wasn’t here!  Where could it be?! 

Tears of frustration began to well up in her eyes. She wanted to cry right here in the middle of the library. 

Mimi was about to do just that until she turned to the side and her light shined upon some weird stranger slumped over the table asleep.

She couldn’t help it. Mimi screamed and dropped the flashlight.

No Fun | [Ash & Mimi | EVENT]

As excited as Ash had been to participate in one of the Goldenrod Radio Tower’s iconic seasonal events, somehow… the real thing was less fun than she was expecting.  It wasn’t the event exactly; the DJs had a great idea with letting people go camping in Unova’s Lostlorn Forest, but… well… the partner system wasn’t great, exactly.  She and her partner– Mimi– had gotten off on the wrong foot, it feels.  But maybe they just needed to spend more time together, that’s all.  She was optimistic about it!  For now!

But then they find themselves arguing about everything despite best efforts to stay cordial; what direction to head in, where to put camp, what to do first, so on and so forth.  Ash was trying her best to stay calm, but… she knows she can be an awfully petty young lady when the moods strikes her.  The more things don’t go her way, the worse this gets and the more unwilling she becomes to work with people– and she can feel it heading that way already.

After some brief time away to scout out the general surroundings of their camp, the two return to their camp, only to find– no!  It’s been ransacked by somebody!  Ash dashes over to the tent, where she kept her bag, and find it’s missing, too.  Why?  She’s almost in tears by the time she speaks up to Mimi.

“No way… why does this have to happen to us now?” Ash whines.  “I mean, the thieves couldn’t have gone far, right–?  We might need to just track them down!  I know Meowth and Minccino could probably take the idiots that took this stuff!”

She’s so stuck in the horror of her stuff being missing that she doesn’t even notice the Premier Ball and note sitting nicely on a tree stump in plain sight.

Mimi let out a huff of air in frustration as she brought a hand up to her face and pinched the bridge of her nose. Today was not a fun day.  What was meant to be a fun and adventurous time was completely ruined.

Why?

Mimi looked over at the girl her age in annoyance before quickly looking back at the map before Ash could see the look on her face. Never in her life has she ever found someone so difficult to work. Someone so frustrating, stubborn, and annoying in her life. 

Mimi was fully aware that she was no ray of sunshine herself, and most of her problems were her fault. Like she got upset too easily, she was stubborn, and she was way too forceful........ But still! This person could be a little less....annoying!

Mimi was so lost in her train of thought that she flinched in surprise when she saw Ash approach her looking incredibly upset. What was her problem now? Did Mimi do something to annoy her again-

Oh. Their stuff got stolen.

A similar sense of fear clutched at Mimi and she began to panic slightly as she looked around the camp for their things.

“Sh-Shhhh! Stop panicking! If you start panicking then I’ll start panicking too!” Mimi mumbled that last part as her mind began racing with possibilities. How could the organizers of this event be so irresponsible to have people sneak in and pilfer their stuff? Did she leave anything important? What could be replaced? How was she going to get a Mega Ring now? 

As she paced around the camp biting the end of her thumb she noticed something sitting on a tree stump.

“Hey. What’s that?”

Woah. It was clear from the quick and concise orders the stranger had issued that they were a very powerful and experienced trainer. When they turned towards Mimi she snapped out of her daze and her hands fumbled for her own pokeballs.

She quickly send out Achlys and Astraeali who landed neatly on the ground and stared up at….

Empty air?

Mimi blinked as she looked around for the Haxorus that had seemingly vanished into thin air. After the explosive hit from the Blastoise the Haxorus had reeled backwards before suddenly vanishing.. 

“What?”

Mimi was so busy staring upwards that she failed to see a small black and red pokemon appear where the Haxorus had been standing. It squealed in pain before attempting to vanish in the tall grass.

❄ “It’s a Zorua,” Red explained, a bit surprised by the reveal that the towering dragon type was really just an illusion after all. Though of course, hindsight was 20/20, so it was definitely a possibility from the start. Haxorus usually didn’t frequent this route, which made the encounter even more bizarre.

❄ But Red couldn’t help but wonder- what was bothering the Zorua so much, what had compelled it to go on a rampage disguised as a Haxorus? They just had to find out- so they tapped Pikachu’s head to see if he could ask. “Pi-ka!” the electric mouse called in reply, hopping off of Red’s shoulder and dashing after the Zorua.

❄ The Zorua turned its head, standing still and shaking as Pikachu approached it. Red stood back to let Pikachu do the talking, turning to Mimi as they felt an explanation was needed. “Something… must have upset it,” they explained, their attention soon diverted towards Mimi’s Pokémon who piqued the former champion’s interest. 

❄ “Oh, uh… your Pokémon… seem to really like you,” Red remarked quietly, a subtle smile gracing their usually neutral face. It was so characteristic of Red to take more interest in Pokémon than people- but it was through one’s Pokémon that Red could learn about their trainer in turn.

Astraeali flicked her tail unimpressed at the stranger. “So what? We we’ll be able to do that.” Was what she was thinking to herself as she sat indignantly near Mimi. Achlys on the other hand was just as impressed as his trainer as the two of them regarded the stranger with some curiosity. What did they say about her pokemon liking her? Wait.  Did they say a Zorua?

She kind of wanted a Zorua. Mimi quickly turned to see where the Pikachu had run off. This would be her first time attempting to catch a pokemon by herself. Though what the stranger said first was more important. Something had upset it? She should find out what.

“....Then I guess we need to help it.”  Mimi frowned...she wondered if a Haxorus was actually in the area before looking at the stranger.

“Oh! Uh. My name is Mimi...what’s yours?”

Lillie held out a flier to the girl at the desk so she could read it more easily. The cover had a glossy photograph of Aether Paradise and ‘Aether Foundation Fundraising Gala’ in large print. She was glad that Wicke had helped her argue against putting a photo of her family on the front, which was what they had typically used in the past. Not only would it have raised a few eyebrows among those who had caught wind of her family’s less than picture-perfect situation, she would have felt odd handing out brochures with her own face on them.

“The Aether Foundation is an organization dedicated to helping Pokemon. It’s based in Alola, but we’re raising money to expand our restoration projects into Unova as well,” Lillie explained.

The flier included the date as well as the location, one of the upscale ballrooms in downtown Castelia. The Gala was primarily aimed at attracting the kind of generous donations that only the rich and famous could afford, but it also served to increase publicity for the Foundation itself.

“If you know who to ask about hanging them up, that would be great!”

Mimi nearly dropped what she was holding when she stared at the “Aether Paradise” poster.

The Aether Foundation? The one in Alola? One of the biggest and most top places for Pokemon Research and Conservation?  That place?

Who the heck was this person? Was she affiliated with them? She looked like someone her own age. Mimi’s head swarmed with different thoughts...different ideas

“....A-Ah yes! Of course! If it’s for the Aether Foundation then I have no doubt that she’d let them be hung up! I’ve always admired the place! Isn’t it one of the top places to study and research pokemon?!” Mimi said excitedly.

It’s been a while since she was last home. Of course it had been something her mother absolutely did not want, but it wasn’t as if a dead person could really stop her in the first place.

Mimi was fully aware of the family drama that came from her Mother’s side, and she knew she risked sparking it all up again just by being here.

...but she didn’t care. She wanted to come home at least once.

...

Which had been her plan. Except that she had encountered a snag. Here she was in Luminose City and nowhere near Anistar. She knew that it was “normal” for kids her age to start their journey’s but it was nothing she was ever really interested in. 

It seemed like she had no choice in the matter anyways. As Mimi mulled over her thoughts she was brought back to reality when  Astraeali (Astra) her Purloin hopped onto her lap and dropped something. 

.... What was this?

.....Did she steal something again?

The girl was starting to get on his nerves. It wasn’t the near-constant questions, or the need to know every little detail that was irritating him, it was the fact that a few years ago Quentin would’ve acted the same way. Asking question after question just because he needed to know the answer, regardless of who he was talking to or what the subject was. Even if it was someone’s personal life…

Quentin preferred to keep his life private, so much so that he very rarely told people his real name. However, the girl’s curiosity was starting to turn into an interrogation. If he didn’t answer, it seemed like she would just repeat herself until he finally gave the information she wanted. He sighed heavily, trying to think a few steps ahead of Mimi and answer her questions before she could ask her next one. 

“I’m from Sinnoh, I just visit Unova a lot. Someone close to me lives in the region, plus my work brings me here.” He paused to take a quick breath, before continuing with his rambling answer.

“My research is on pokemon evolution, and how different stages of evolution developed.” Quentin paused again, thinking of a simple and quick way to explain his research. “Not just how a Pokemon evolves from one stage to another, but how those changes developed in the first place. It’s long, and complicated, and full of dead ends.”

In class she was learning about the various Pokemon Professors and their topic of research. If she remembered correctly...Professor Rowan was focused on the exact same thing wasn’t he? Ah if this Q person was from Sinnoh it’d make sense that he’d focus on what the Professor there was studying too.

Wait. Did this mean this person knew Professor Rowan?

With the slight intent to flex of what little she knew about Evolution (and to show off to someone potentially kind of important) Mimi puffed up her chest and began to talk.

“In Kalos where I was from there’s this place that has a really large crystal structure. We don’t know why but it’s connected with finding Mega Stones which cause Mega Evolution. Mega Evolution and Evolution are pretty similar aren’t they? Do you and Professor Rowan know Professor Sycamore?”

“Johto’s not the only place I live, kid.” Anzu scoffed. “This city is my home too. I’m just here for a visit.”

For too long of a stay it seemed. Once the warm welcome wore itself out, Anzu eventually found herself back in old places when things at home became too boring. Her mother was in crunch mode at work and Yuzu was busy studying for upcoming exams. Not many of her old friends were available, or willing, to see her while she was in town. There was only so much daytime TV that she could entertain herself with before she started to go stir crazy. She wouldn’t admit it out loud, but for all she complained about living in Johto, at least she stayed busy there. That was one bonus.

“Kinda surprised to see you here without that jackass, actually. Where is he anyway?”

Well...that made sense. Though Mimi was a bit surprised to see her considering what Yuzu.. Actually she didn’t even know enough to make any conclusion on whatever was going on with Yuzu’s sister anyways.

Come to think about it... This was the first time she’s really gotten to even see her at least personally anyways. She’s heard bits and pieces about her, but she didn’t really know what to make of her. 

What Anzu said jarred her out of her thoughts to which she immediately brought up her chin and gave a dismissive scoff.

“Ha. I have a life separate from that  blockhead too you know? He’s probably just working his job and getting harassed by that torchic again.” Mimi mumbled that last part as she glanced down at her phone, slightly tempted to call him and see what was up. 

“A-Anyways. I was going to get some Casteliacones. They’re pretty good this time of the year. Daigo works for the lady who sells them so I can get some.”

...Wait this was an opportunity! To get closer with Anzu might mean she could become better friends with Yuzu.

“Do you...want to come?”

“Oh, no, it’s alright.” Kana waved her hand. She certainly understood how people could get incredibly emotional when discussing certain things that greatly affect them. “I’m used to it, honestly,” she admitted. She liked to tell herself that she had a pretty gentle demeanor that could calm anyone, but this certainly wasn’t the first time she’d been spoken to this way.

“I understand - it isn’t everybody’s cup of tea.” Many human lives go one without believing in much, besides what can already be seen. Kana, of course, could see far more than just what’s on the surface, but she wasn’t the sort of person to force ideas on to others.

“I’m just curious, that’s all. Have you ever been to Ecruteak in Johto? It’s a very spiritual city. Even if you don’t exactly believe in any of that stuff, there’s something very overwhelming about the place. You start to pick up on certain things after living there your entire life … like others’ emotions and troubles.”

“Hmm.”

The more she spoke with this person it became a little bit clear that she knew what she was talking about..or at least she was feeling confident about what she was talking about. 

Mimi had always found herself to be a more “realistic” and had more of a “scientific” mind. She never did put much stock in the legends, the myths, or the stories of the “spiritual” side. It was never something that made sense to her.

“You’re just a little kid! There’s nothin wrong with livin and dreaming a little.” Mimi could hear her Father chastise her in her head. 

Hrmm... Well even if she didn’t buy into the whole spiritual thing. There was an undeniable spark of interest when it came to traveling to different regions. The idea of going on an adventure was something was...always impossible for Mimi. There were too many things to consider and responsibilities that prevented her from doing so.

Still...it sounded like fun.

“Eruteak in Johto...well I have a friend who’s sister is in Johto, but I don’t really know all that much about it. I don’t think I ever could go there, but it does sound...interesting.”

Maybe she could ask Daigo about it later.

Information Distribution | Lillie & Mimi

The bustling streets of Castelia City were nothing like any town Lillie had visited before. It was certainly more crowded than anywhere in Alola, and felt more chaotic than the cities in Kanto, but perhaps her unfamiliarity with the region just made it seem that way.

She had stepped into the library seeking a moment of peace and quiet, but the billboard plastered with advertisements ranging from guitar lessons to exclusive Pokemon battling clubs gave her an idea.

“Excuse me?” she asked, approaching a girl about her age behind the librarian’s desk. “Is it alright if I hang up a few fliers for the Aether Foundation Fundraising Gala here?”

Technically, she was supposed to be handing out the fliers to pedestrians as they passed by, but watching several people throw them in the trash immediately after receiving them was discouraging. At least more people would have the chance see them posted in a public place than sitting at the bottom of a garbage can.

Mimi sighed a breath of relief as she sat within the well air conditioned and comfy Library. It was a nice contrast and relief compared to the heat that radiated from the sun. Summer was coming to Castelia City and Mimi was glad to avoid it’s dangers for now.

Though it came at the cost of work duty. Mimi never minded however...she enjoyed working at the Library due to being able to study at the same time. She had a lot to catch up on and a lot to study up for..

“Excuse me?”

Ah. Mimi had been so engrossed in her book that she failed to notice the strange approaching her at the desk. She looked up to see a blonde girl holding a couple of papers.

“Ah uh...well that’s not up to me, but I can go ahead and ask someone who can help you with that.” There was something oddly familiar about this person...where did she see her before?

Pushing aside her curiosities she glanced at the flier she was holding.

“What is it for anyways?”

❄ Red rolled out of the bush immediately, reacting to the voice of panic and releasing Blastoise from his Poké Ball as if by instinct. Haxorus was no joke- they’d fought dragons like that in the Champion’s Tournament. If it was allowed to build up power unchecked, it could knock out any Pokémon in its vicinity.

❄ A single gesture, calling for Blastoise to blast the towering dragon with a Hydro Pump to push it back. The water flew out of Blastoise’s cannons immediately, creating some distance between Haxorus and the two trainers. Another gesture, this time Red calling for a Scald and hoping it would be hot enough to burn. Red’s eyes burned with determination, the eyes of someone who’d experienced many tough battles like this before. “Pikaaaa!” Pikachu called out, as soon as the burn had made its mark.

❄ But the battle wasn’t over yet. Red turned to Mimi, holding a Poké Ball as if to encourage her to send out her own Pokémon. Two trainers were better than one, after all.

Woah. It was clear from the quick and concise orders the stranger had issued that they were a very powerful and experienced trainer. When they turned towards Mimi she snapped out of her daze and her hands fumbled for her own pokeballs.

She quickly send out Achlys and Astraeali who landed neatly on the ground and stared up at....

Empty air?

Mimi blinked as she looked around for the Haxorus that had seemingly vanished into thin air. After the explosive hit from the Blastoise the Haxorus had reeled backwards before suddenly vanishing.. 

“What?”

Mimi was so busy staring upwards that she failed to see a small black and red pokemon appear where the Haxorus had been standing. It squealed in pain before attempting to vanish in the tall grass.
