Edible Centrepiece Exam Piece

So for our exam, we were tasked to make an edible centrepiece. The restrictions were 40cm x 40cm base, and no taller than 100cm. I decided that I wanted to make something Hobbit-themed, as a gift for my sister and in the end I came up with this. It's a very, very simplified version of the Green Dragon, with Bag End on a hill behind it (inaccurate, but artistic licence!) Sadly, Bag End got squashed really badly on the journey back home so it's gone really wonky. But I did get a distinction so that really made my day!

It was made using gingerbread, sugarpaste, poured sugar, tempered chocolate, royal icing and a little bit of piping gel. There's some little battery-powered flickering tealights inside that glows through the windows and gives the appearance of lights inside.

I've recently discovered a great cure for sadness. It is looking at my friend's tumblr (magmaparapara) of all the cute things. ALL THE CUTE THINGS. Especially cats and seals (which look weirdly like cats with no ears...)

Photos of my outfit from the October MCM Expo/London ComicCon/Whatever they go by now. It was only a couple of weeks ago but I miss everyone already! I was rushing around so much at the event, so I wanted a casual outfit to wear (and no heels because if I run in heels, I'll end up flat on my face) These photos were taken by my friend the friendly giant, Martin. He successfully makes me look super short in photos!

So, I know I've been really inactive on here again and I can only apologise. Every time I want to post things on here, I just don't have the motivation to do so. I've been suffering with depression and stress lately, due to some personal issues that have come up with family and work. It's not been a fun couple of months. To be honest, things aren't even completely resolved yet. But, I shall try to be more active on here again as I think it's a nice thing to focus on outside of my hectic week.

Putting together flat pack furniture is so kawaii.... haha. Bad quality picture.... but uh hey, would be nice if people actually helped me put this together instead of watching and taking pictures.

(and no, I don't normally do DIY in lolita but I was just putting on the drawer runners quickly and couldn't be bothered changing and then changing back for the sake of a 10-15min job)

I know I haven't been very active on here again, and I apologise for that. I've been feeling really depressed about a lot of things lately, but things are getting a lot better again.

So anyways, here is some photos of my outfit on the Cosplay Cruise, that took place in London. I didn't wear socks or cute shoes because it was so insanely hot and we had to run from the station to the dock (because of poor time-keeping on our part)
