new Sea Siren editorial I shot in Scotland
Rabbit-Holes in Film Pt. 1 (1900′s - 1970′s) she found herself falling down a very deep well
I was reading up on how directors avoid hats and anything else that would obscure the faces of their leads (even life-saving helmets, R.I.P. Wun-Wun), and realized this holds true even in animated movies. It’s kind of a shame, though, because wouldn’t the Disney princesses have amazing hats? I decided to explore a few in fashion sketches.
p.s. I don’t even want to hear about how Elsa is not a princess.
p.p.s. Yes, I know Tiana does briefly wear a hat in The Princess and the Frog, but I wasn’t about to skip the Roaring 20s.
Panels from my “Scarlet Flower” color script. These are some of the important moments in the story described by color and light.
My final character line up for my russian Beauty and the Beast redesign, entitled “ The Scarlet Flower”
Some early character sketches for Nastenka, the older stepsister, and the Beast. Part of my beauty and the beast redid design project for school- this is based in old Russia and is called, “The Scarlet Flower”.
Beauty and the Beast (in space). Some people are just really attractive when they’re happy. If you haven’t seen them happy, how would you know?
(I tag this stuff - check it out if you like it!)
I couldn’t decide on the right kiss pose, so I did a bunch of sketches… and then this happened! Now I kinda want to ink these and add a few more frames to make it a proper animation ♡
Caricature legend Al Hirschfeld’s interpretation of Susan Egan and Terrence Mann as Belle and The Beast in Disney’s broadway show. Want to own this limited edition litho? It’s on etsy right now!

La bella y la bestia ( Utsukushisa to Kemono (美しさ と 獣)
Here are all the Beasts put together. I have posted all of the pictures and stories of the Beasts that I have got. If you missed some, you can find them in my blog by a tag #Beauty and the Beast. Or on my website: www.saali.nl Or on my behance page: www.be.net/saali (The texts the are also a little more formal than in here :))
But I still have one short bonus story to tell you - the Portuguese Beauty and the Beast tale. Which I don’t have a picture for, cause the Portuguese Beast is invisible… This one is for drama lovers. But first, remember the French story. Or that of Disney, doesn’t really matter. Remember that happy ending? The Beast turns into a prince charming and all that. Well, if you find all that happiness a bit too cheesy, the Portuguese story is for you. Their story is absolutely the same as the French one. Right until the moment when Belle goes back to her house to visit her father. She also promises the Beast to be back in time (in a day or so), like in the French version. But in the French version she comes back later, the Beast is dying. She proclaims her love for him, and everything is great. In the Portuguese version the ending is much more emotional. She comes back too late. The Beast is dying. And with his dying breath… he curses her and her family. :) And everybody dies! Including her sisters and father. “ A plague on both your houses “, so to say. And on that cheerful note - the end!
A curvy Belle to continue the series 🌟🌹
Who’s the fairest of them all.
A new curvier Ursula, so much happier with this version!

Here’s a piece I started before Kyle’s death. I haven’t felt much like drawing lately, which is really strange for me. I decided to bit the bullet and go ahead and finish it. I think it turned out well.
