Snow widened her eyes to his answer. “Oh wow, I didn’t know that!” She glanced the line before going back to him. “I mean, it doesn’t surprise me since Pedro is an excellent baker… But I’ve never seen anything like this before here, so it must be exciting.” How could she never notice this? “Does it happen often or..?”

“Uh, yeah? It’s not like, an every day thing, but it’s usually once a month unless something happens. I used to come a lot, but I didn’t know he’d be doing it today.” Oliver didn’t really...have to keep up with that kind of thing now, after all. He could pay for his own now, pay the place back like he’d promised.

Classes were finally done for today, so Snow walked until the closest cafeteria. Noticing a unusually long line, that was already outside of the shop, the woman approached it with caution. Standing behind the last person, she asked. “What is happing today? I have never seen this place with a line so big before.”

Oliver was standing in line, glad that he had such a big break before his next class. He’d seen the line like this at least once before at this place, but, well. He gave the woman an easy shrug when he heard her question, trying to see if the line was moving at all. “Sometimes they give food out for as much as you can pay, so I’m betting that’s it. Must be good this time.”

Oliver has always been a fast learner. Fast to figure out how to avoid getting into trouble at the orphanage, fast to learn how to spot security cameras, quick to hotwire, speedy at pick pocketing, and eventually, decent at algebra in school. Oliver has always loved learning, anything that he could get interested in. He’s a bit of a jack of all trades, at the cost of some people looking at him weird when he knows how to open up the snack machines at school.

Never does anything illegal to anyone who doesn’t deserve it. If Oliver visits a mom and pop store, he pays for what he wants and lets them keep the change. When Oliver goes to big chains, he’s much more likely to slip a few things in his pockets, just to stay sharp. His main rule with himself is “do no harm”, and he’s stayed by that.

For every cent that comes out of Jenny’s pocket, Oliver has a record of it, fully intending to pay her back for all the burden he’s put on her financially. That started before Sykes started blackmailing him, and the habit has only gotten worse. It’s definitely not normal for a 25-year-old to be hiding an account book in his room like it’s a Playboy, but Oliver does what he feels like he needs to.

Always a little shy, Oliver finds it a little hard to make friends outside of the gang. It’s not like he never tries, because he does, but getting close to people when you feel like your family could drop you at any moment is very difficult. Abandonment issues don’t make friends, but a practiced cute little orphan smile might.
