Aw shit, dude, I didn't realize that the person running this blog is in my studio. >.>
HA who are you?!
Whats the take on singing a song from a musical you've been in, but not a character you've played for an audition. Like, for example, singing a song only Roxy sings in Chicago for an audition when you've played Velma before. Is that okay, or a no-go?
I'm not MT, so I really don't have a clue. Followers?

I saw Twelfth Night with a friend tonight, and it was positively stellar. This cast is brilliant – they alternate performances of Twelfth Night and Richard not just nightly, but often they'll switch shows between matinee and evening performances, which is INCREDIBLE and unfathomable to me. Every single performer was totally on. All male cast, so it was pretty crazy to see a man playing a woman playing a man. Period dress, period instrumentals, period set – ugh. Raving forever. Morale of the story: good Shakespeare is good.
HELP! I have a last minute audition to my dream school's theatre department and I have to present two contrasting monologues and I don't know where even to begin finding them! They have to be from plays (not musicals or movies) and I would like to be able to read the whole play before I do them. Thank you!
Some turned up on this attempt at a master post.
(Here's the link for the 9 Parts of Desire one)
Also check out Dog Sees God, Buried Child, Stagedoor, Little Women, Children's Hour, The Women, some modernizations of Antigone (I used Jean Anouilh's), Oleanna, and whatever other suggestions my lovely followers may have!
I need help and im calling out to every performer. What do you do get rid of nerves before a performance? I can never seem to get over them to be able to perform my best!
Surprisingly, it's best not to try to get rid of your nerves. If you relax entirely, you'll lose energy and won't be able to captivate your audience. What's better is to notice how you're feeling -- butterflies? shakiness? nausea? excitement? -- and then translate it to a healthy amount of adrenaline. You're going onstage! You're living the dream! You are so lucky to get to do what you love for the enjoyment of both yourself and your audience. Remember that, take a deep breath, and try not to relax, but to accept what you're feeling and translate it into a positive, stage-ready energy.
This is me (cassadysings) as Jo March in "Little Women" (the musical), which just closed in late September. Jo has been one of my absolute DREAM roles, and it was an honor and a pleasure to bring her to life, especially since I see so much of myself and my story in Jo and hers. It was a completely beautiful experience.
Broadway Musicals. The ones filmed on stage are not always the best quality. I tried to include every version I could find. Most of these are the movie versions, if a version was available. Enjoy! I highly suggest everyone installs and ad blocker before watching these videos: Firefox & Chrome Safari Android

Audition monologue master post.
In the spirit of the oncoming college audition season, let's compile a master post of good audition monologues! Begin.
Layal's "Leave Iraq?" from 9 Parts of Desire from Heather Raffo.
Help! I'm trying to build my monologue book with some great, active, womanly monologues! But I'm really hitting snags. I keep finding "storytelling" monologues, but they don't do enough for me performance wise. Anyone have recommendations? I can play as young as 16 to as old as 30.
my favorite monologue: littlestagethings.tumblr.com/favorite
anyone else, suggestions?
In the middle of a heated debate, so: thoughts on Andrew Lloyd Webber. Go.
Broadway flea bound!
