Three years since the kidnapping of the Bishops of Aleppo, Their Eminences Syriac Archbishop Mor Gregorios Youhanna Ibrahim and Antiochian Orthodox Archbishop Boulos Yazigi. Tragically, they were kidnapped as they returned from a humanitarian mission negotiating the release of kidnapped hostages. As the world remains silent, we will never forget you or your sacrifices for the Christians and people of Syria. We pray for them every day!

From St. Cyril of Alexandria (Cyril of Alexandria: The Early Church Fathers by Norman Russell, Commentary on John 6:56; Routledge pgs. 118-119): “…if we really yearn for eternal life, if we long to have the provider of immortality within ourselves, let us not abstain from the Eucharist like some of the more negligent, nor let us provide the devil in the depths of his cunning with a trap and a snare for us in the form of a pernicious kind of reverence. ‘Yes, indeed,’ someone might say. 'But it is written: "Anyone who eats of the bread and drinks of the cup unworthily, eats and drinks judgment upon himself” (cf. I Cor. 11:29). I have examined myself and I see that I am not worthy.’ But then when will you be worthy? My response would be: 'When will you present yourself to Christ? If you are always going to be afraid of falling, you will never cease falling - “For who can discern his faults,” as the holy Psalmist says (Ps. 18:12 LXX) - and you will end up totally bereft of a share in saving sanctification.’ Make up your mind, then, to lead a more devout life in conformity with the law, and so partake of the Eucharist in the conviction that it dispels not only death but even the diseases that are in us (cf. If the nine orders of angels desired to descend from the heavens, and become demons,

If all men would become evil,

If all creations, heaven, lights, priests, animals desired to apostasize from God,

All these evils of creation weighed against the fulness of the Holiness of the Theotokos could not sadden God.

For only the Lady Theotokos was able to please Him in all things. She alone stands between God and men, who made God the son of men, and men sons of God.

Without her intercessions no one, neither angels, nor men could entreat God, for she alone is found on the border between the uncreated and natural creation.

She alone is God immediately after God and has second place to the Holy Trinity, as being truly the mother of God in essence.

And she alone is not only the protector of the treasury of all the riches of the Godhead, but she is the distributor to all angels and men, all those gifts from God to the supernatural creation, illumination and divine and spiritual gifts.

And there is no one who cannot call upon her with faith and not be heard with compassion.
