✦ Take Note
✧ There are some things I will and will not write and here they are!
✧ Will write: Fluff, angst, comfort, manga spoilers, Muichirou x Reader
✧ Will not write: Suggestive, NSFW, toxicity/hate, other ships/characters included in the ship <Muichirou x Reader>
✧ I only write for <Muichirou x Reader> but asking for other characters to be included in the story as side characters are fine!
✧ I try to avoid using pronouns and describing how Reader looks like, but if I do, I will most likely be using they/her pronouns and Reader's gender will be female. I have yet to write about a male Reader but if you would like to see it, do specify so and I'll try my best! However, I do not take detailed descriptions of Reader. Detailed descriptions of the plot you want is alright (and appreciated!!) but I try to keep Reader as neutral as possible so that more people can enjoy the story!
✦ Updates

Summary: You try to bake a cake while Muichirou just watches.
a/n: ohmygod y'all its the way i tried writing muichirou as he was before he got his memories back and then halfway decided to try and write him after he got his memories back and changed it but the thing is I cant write EITHER personality well SO ITS LIKE HIM BUT NOT HIM CRIES also this is like really long and written without any er proofreading so IMSOSORRY
“Hello everyone! Welcome back to ‘Can I Cook It? Yes I Can!’, a series in which I try to create all sorts of foods, ranging from a bowl of chicken soup to macarons! Today’s objective is to bake a simple one-tier cake. Oh and, we have a guest today! Everyone, do welcome my beloved, Muichirou! He’s just here to observe, haha.” Stepping to the side, you allow your audience a view of your lover. Muichirou looks at the camera before glancing down at the comments section. It became extremely active the moment you moved aside.
You were by no means the most viewed streamer, though you did have a dedicated fanbase of your own. On normal days, there would be a steady stream of comments. Occasionally, there would be a large influx of comments and views, but that only happens when you’re celebrating festivals by creating challenging foods. (The last time you tried, you ended up spending the entire next day cleaning up your kitchen.) So, it was quite surprising to see the number of viewers suddenly increase. You looked at the comments section too.

The rest of the comments that followed had similar contents. You were stupefied. You were under no such impressions that Muichirou was anything less than gorgeous, but after being with him for so long, you naturally got used to it a little. Seeing the reactions of people who never had the chance to be graced by such a beauty for, you couldn’t help but a little smug and sneak a glance at your boyfriend. Surprisingly, he was already looking at you, having lost interest in the reactions of others earlier. Smiling a little, you moved back to block your audience’s view of him. Ignoring the flood of dismayed comments, you resumed your talk. “Now, let us get started! I’ll be sharing the link to recipe I’ll be following later. After last month’s baking incident, I decided to pick an easier recipe to follow today.”
————
OKOKOKOKOKOK: understandable as you should
LALALALALALALA: its a surprise youre still willing to bake
————
What could you and the comments possibly be talking about? Muichirou was mystified. Still, he silently watched you curiously as you grabbed the necessary ingredients and preheated the oven. Once you were done adjusting the settings on the oven and lining the baking pan with parchment paper, you moved on to the next step. You grabbed a bowl that you deemed big enough and dumped in some flour, baking powder and salt. Seeing this, Muichirou couldn’t help but blurt out “How do you know how much to add?” He did not see you measure the ingredients beforehand and the amount of each ingredient you poured in seemed questionable.
“I don’t.” Ah what a simple response, but it gave Muichirou a better idea and guess of how “last month’s baking incident” could’ve happened. He mentally prepared himself for a “today’s baking incident”. Perhaps he should’ve worn a raincoat? He wasn’t familiar with baking but he was familiar with your uncanny ability to mess things up ridiculously so. He watched with new found interest as you whisked the ingredients before moving on to turning on your stand mixer. After fumbling with the switch and buttons a little, you managed to turn on it and waited a few minutes for it to beat the butter and sugar.
Muichirou moved closer to you and looked over your shoulder. The butter and sugar now looked pale and creamy, which (to Muichirou’s surprise) matched what the recipe stated. Oh, maybe you weren’t that bad at baking? Unaware of your boyfriend’s skepticism, you continued with the next steps: adding two eggs. Now this was easy. You’ve cracked many eggs before. However, it seems that today wasn’t your day. You must’ve used too much force because the moment you tried cracking the egg apart, it burst open. The slimy egg whites and yolk now stained the front of your shirt and kitchen walls. Some of it already began to drip down your kitchen counter too. Muichirou silently concluded that you couldn’t bake.
Without hesitation, he shook his head at you, sighed, and reached over to crack both eggs for you. He then proceeded to help you wipe off the egg remains from the walls and counter. Pointing at your stained shirt, he asked, “Are you not going to change? If you don’t wash it soon, it’s going to stain forever.” You wave a hand and laughed. “Of course not, I’m too lazy. This is my streaming shirt, no matter what happens, I’ll until I’m done to wash it.” That explained why this originally-purely-white shirt had all sorts of weird patches of colours on it.

Unlike your extremely active comments section, Muichirou decided to keep his thoughts to himself and chose to observe what else would happen.
After adding milk, oil and vanilla into the bowl (all volumes were eyeballed obviously) and mixing it, you added the entire mixture of dry flour in and beat it until all ingredients were combined. (you were supposed to add half first, beat it, then add the other half but you wanted to “save time”). You then poured the batter into the baking pan. The recipe stated that you should use a spatula to smooth out the top. You could not find yours and decided to just move on to stuffing it into the oven. The recipe stated that you had to wait a minimum of thirty minutes. No troubles arose so far, impressive! Keep up the good work!
Proud of yourself, you grinned before turning to the camera. “Haha, guess today’s baking session will be a success! I’ll now be making the cake’s frosting.” Grabbing the bowl used to beat the butter previously, you placed more butter into it and dumped some sugar in and allowed your stand mixer to beat the mixture. With a soft smile on his face, Muichirou leaned against the counter as he watched you dump more sugar (?), milk and vanilla into the bowl.

OKOKOKOKOKOK: i didnt know frosting had salt in them
LALALALALALALA: thye don’t

There was still a lot of time left so you decided to interact with your audience. A quick glance at your viewership left you shocked. The numbers were nearly triple of your usual viewership and it was still steadily rising! Was having a new face really that effective in gaining more viewers? Of course not, the effectiveness depended on how attractive that face was! Perhaps you should invite Muichirou to join your streams more often, it seemed your fans really liked him and were extremely interested in him.

Wow, you were certainly not expecting so many questions. You glanced over at your lover, silently asking if he was okay with all the attention. Muichirou simply smiled at you before answering a question at random, “Everyday, I made sure to stand on my head for three minutes while reciting the following line aloud ‘I have no doubt that even if everyone in the world opposes us we will get together because our love for each other is so great that it’s greater than the universe itself’ two hundred and ninety seven times. You have to make sure that you say it two hundred and ninety seven times within three minutes. You will definitely get your soulmate if you do this. I’m living proof.” He said all that with a nonchalant look. For a moment, you couldn’t tell whether or not he was serious. In the end, you decided not to dwell on it. After all, who cares? (Your audience certainly did. The comments section exploded with multiple users commenting that line along with the cartwheel emoji repeatedly.)
Looking through the comments, you found a question to answer. “Oh, what’s our love languages? Well, mine is all of them, HAHA. And his is probably acts of service and words of affirmation. He used to be bad with his words but he’s getting better now!” You smiled lovingly at your boyfriend and he couldn’t help but smile back. Indeed, when the two of you first met, he was cold and aloof and held great disdain for anyone who wasn’t part of his family. But slowly and surely, he warmed up to you and now, the both of you have been together for quite some time and he has learnt to express his feelings a little better.
The two of you spent quite some time together answering the questions. It was mostly you going through the comments, picking out questions out of the sea of “🤸 I have no doubt that even if everyone in the world opposes us we will get together because our love for each other is so great that it’s greater than the universe itself 🤸”. You answered most of the questions, with Muichirou occasionally chiming in to provide some tidbits about the both of you. He didn’t talk much but whenever he had something to say, it would either be to praise you or an affectionate insult (which was actually still clearly a compliment for you!!). He did not look at the camera or the screen but rather at you. He loved watching you excitedly talk about stuff.
It was a while until you saw the following comments:
————
OKOKOKOKOKOK: hey how long has the cake been in there already
LALALALALALALA: HAHA I THINK AN HOUR. AT LEAST.
————
Oh no, you completely forgot about the cake! Rushing to the oven, you put on your gloves before opening it, reaching into it, and pulling out the pan. It did not look like the golden brown it should be. And while the recipe stated you wait for the cake to cool before adding frosting, you decided that at the point, time did not matter. Haphazardly, you used a large spoon to scoop out the frosting and spread it on the cake.
The frosting looked very uneven no matter how many times you tried to smooth it out. Oh well, who cares? Definitely not you! Using the same spoon, you scooped out a large chunk of the cake and turned around to offer it to Muichirou. He saw how the cake looked when it came out the oven. In fact, he could still see black peeking out of the uneven layers of frosting. How could he deny you though? Resigned to his fate, he opened his mouth and ate the cake obediently. He paused after the first bite. He slowly chewed again.
You watched his reaction intently but could not tell what he was thinking. Finally, you asked, “Well?” Muichirou swallowed before answering. He smiled brightly. “Really good. In fact, you should let me finish the rest.” A beautiful bright smile blossomed on your face as you excitedly took a bite for yourself. Your blossomed smile immediately wilted. It. Was. Salty. And So. Very. Very. Burnt. Really good my foot! You had added large amounts of salt into the frosting instead of sugar and the cake tasted like charcoal (you did not know how charcoal tasted like but you were positive that this was how it must taste like)!
You couldn’t even swallow the bite and spat it out into the bin. Looks like this baking session was a fail too! How disappointing, maybe better luck next time!
————
EATINGRAMEN: im so jealous he could still smile and offer praises
allthingsblack: OHMYGOD RIGHT ?? like he even tried to make sure that only he would have to suffer
OKOKOKOKOKOK: I KNEW IT IT WAS SALT NOT SUGAR
LALALALALALALA: at least today wasn’t exactly a baking incident like last time

a/n: ill really do anything just so I can avoid revising omfg
- Mari’s backstory is in her perspective, meaning some important aspects are left out since she doesn’t know them (yet).
- This will be unnecessarily long.
As much as Mari could remember, she didn’t live a completely terrible life, but not a good one either. Her parents (mostly) neglected her well-being, especially her mother who doesn’t even bother looking at her in the eye, and people in the village she lived in avoided her for some odd reason.
Amongst that, she only had one person who took care of her and loved her and that was her older sister, Riko. She raised her and took care of everything she needed, and treated her with affection and care. With the lack of parental love and having nobody else to care for her her besides Riko, she developed a co-dependent relationship with her, practically relying on her for everything.
Riko then would one day suddenly leave the village when she was 7 with no further reason aside from ‘working to get money’ and left Mari to be cared for by her father, who only did the ‘bare minimum’ which was feeding her. Being left all by herself (at least that’s how Mari felt), she was scared of showing any sort of vulnerability to anybody around her and began to show more aggression and hostility to anybody that isn’t her sister.
Riko would still occasionally visit the village to check up on Mari every once in a while. But whenever she isn’t around, Mari spends most of her time exploring the mountains near her village or the forest and befriending bugs/insects she spots.
Then when she was 8 years old, during her usual exploration around the mountains, Mari got distracted by something, which then leads her to getting injured and lost around the mountains. She was spotted by the Tokito dad who was chopping off wood and seeing a lost injured little girl, he immediately went to go help her.
It was difficult at first, since Mari tried to fight him off, fearing that he was gonna hurt her but he eventually somehow managed to calm her and took her into the shack where she met the Tokito twins and their mom.
After treating her injuries, the parents left to find more herbs to treat Mari with, leaving her with the twins. Muichiro was curious and excited to see another person his age, trying to make conversation with her despite the girl not responding to anything he said and keeping quiet. Yuichiro tried to tell him to leave her be, but he refused and kept talking to her.
Mari was anxious as she was in a different place and was unfamiliar with any of them. In an attempt to get away from Muichiro, she tried to stand up, but the injuries didn’t recover yet and resulted in her feeling a sharp pain around her leg, causing both the twins and Mari to panic.
Muichiro immediately tried to help her out, and Mari was about to push him away and refuse but he managed to catch her arm in time and with a soft smile, he assured her that he won’t hurt her and just needed to see if she’s okay.
The genuine kindness in his eyes reminded her of her sister, making her realize that the family wasn’t trying to hurt her and was genuinely helping her out. So reluctantly, for the first time let herself be vulnerable for just a moment.
Ever since her first meet with the family, Mari became a frequent visitor to their shack, spending most of her time there when Riko wasn’t visiting and bonding with the family. It was the first time she experienced feeling welcomed from anybody aside from her sister.
Then the Tokito parents died when when her and the twins were 10. Their relationship became a little strained (especially with Yuichiro), but she still visited to at least either accompany them or help out with anything. Yuichiro refused any of her help, which upsets Mari.
She hated feeling useless. Hated that she wasn’t good at even basic house chores or lacked any talent. Mari wanted to feel useful, to have a purpose to fulfill.
And she was granted that wish when she was 11 and went out during night to admire the moon that looked bigger than usual. As she walked up to the mountains for a better look, she spotted a rabbit and with typical curiosity chased it.
The rabbit escaped, leaving her disappointed. But that disappointment would quickly turn into fear when she heard the bushes rustling and spotted something that looked.. both human but also not human..? That was what she described in her head.
The creature then tackled her, prompting Mari to instinctively stab it using a knife she was carrying around for self defense. Hitting it directly at a vital spot before barely managing to push away and run off. Turning back, she became more confused and scared when she sees that the creature was still chasing her even after she stabbed him.
Mari finds herself cornered and just as she thought she was about to die, somebody came to the rescue. Wielding a sword in her hands, a young woman shielded her from the creature, telling her to go hide while she takes care of the creature.
Scared for her life, Mari did what the woman asked and hid herself in the bushes, covering her ears in fear while hoping it’ll all be over soon. Eventually, she heard footsteps and slowly looking up, she notices it was the same woman who saved her, asking if she’s okay.
After ensuring that Mari was okay, she offered her to take her back to the village after some small talk, which the younger girl agreed and the pair started making their way back to the village.
On their way there, The woman explained to Mari about demon slayers and what role they serve as one. Surprisingly to Mari, her interest was piqued when she said she was a demon slayer. As if she was drawn into it. When they arrived to the village, Mari remarked that her uniform looked similar to what her sister wears usually. That remark made the young woman confused for a moment before realizing what she’s saying and told her that it would mean her sister is a fellow demon slayer.
That information surprised Mari. It was no wonder she’s busy, has a sword with her, and even has a crow that talks and delivers letters to Mari. After being taken to her home, the girl was stuck with a thought of being a demon slayer like her sister. She made a plan of following the crow who delivers her sister’s letters, believing that it’ll lead her to her current whereabouts.
She didn’t mind running away. She knew her parents wouldn’t even notice her sudden disappearance. But she was worried about leaving the twins behind, especially since they’re in a bad place after their parents death.
Mari didn’t wanna just suddenly abandon them, but then she thought more about it. Along with being by her sister’s side, she could possibly finally have some use, even protect the twins from any dangers from demons. And for some reason, something about it just drew her in. Those reasons were enough to motivate her to become a demon slayer.
After a week passed, she ran away during night, following wherever the crow was going and eventually being lead to an estate.
Instead of meeting her sister, she met an old guy, Genkichi. He recognized Mari as Riko’s younger sister and took her in the estate. After some quick talk and informing her that Riko is out for a week long mission, Mari then asked him to train her, which the guy was surprised by the request and hesitated.
At first he was denying her, but after some time he reluctantly gave into her wishes. Genkichi was surprised of how quickly Mari learned, especially for somebody whose only 11 years old. It was intriguing for him.
Riko eventually returned and was shocked and bewildered to see Mari training to be a demon slayer, let alone being here as well. Definitely, she didn’t approve on her being one, but Genkichi convinced her to let her be; explaining that Mari is unusually talented for someone her age. Riko reluctantly gave in, still not agreeing with the idea but their mentor was pretty stubborn.
Throughout out the months, Mari was trained under Riko and Genkichi. Despite her odd talent with swordsmanship for her age, she wasn’t able to learn wind breathing. This disappointed her greatly since she knew that being a strong demon slayer meant that she has to know how to use breathing forms.
Then one day, while asleep, she finds herself in a ‘dream’ where a young woman was training as a demon slayer like she was. The young woman used a breathing technique called ‘Cloud breathing’ and performing a form of it.
After waking up, she still has vivid memories of the dream. Wanting to test it out, Mari decided to try performing the same form. It took a few attempts, but much to her surprise, she successfully performed it. Mari was ecstatic about it, and ever since then, she’s been sleeping more frequently to learn more forms of Cloud Breathing, more determined than ever.
After just 9 months of training, Mari took the final selection exam. After the exam, she slept for a whole day. During her time sleeping, she finds herself in a field of clouds. She walked for several minutes, eventually finding a familiar figure.
The woman that she dreamt of. The same woman who was the reason why Mari knew Cloud Breathing in the first place. The same woman called out to her, beckoning her to come closer. Mari was hesitant, but she complied, eventually facing her.
The woman was called Harumi, and explained to Mari that she made Cloud Breathing. She was very much impressed of Mari learning it as Cloud breathing, as it wasn’t as easy to master it, let alone learn it due to it’s picky requirements.
Harumi told the young girl that she was special, that she was born strong to fulfill some form of use, to fulfill a purpose. And that purpose she has to fulfill was killing the uppermoon one.
Her soft tone, the praises, and the seemingly genuine kindness, everything felt real to Mari. She felt obligated to accept it. It was for the first time she could actually prove she actually has some use.
Ever since that dream, Mari was now more motivated in being a demon slayer, determined to fulfill her purpose and become as strong as she could. She was happier than ever now that she has her sister by her side. But the question still lies: Will her happiness last?
Taisho Era Secrets regarding Mari:
- Mari joined the same Final Selection exam as Muichiro (and Aoi). Surprisingly enough, Mari didn’t know that, nor does she even remember the people who attended that time aside from Aoi.
- The bow Mari is wearing was gifted to her by Riko when she was around 12. It holds a special place for her.
- Along that, Riko also made her haori!
- At some point, Mari would meet her relatives during a mission, which would significantly improve Mari’s happiness.
This is so unnecessarily long, nobody is gonna read this istg

Summary: Before the war, the both of you fall into a routine where you apply ointment on his hands.
a/n: oh dang its been a while guys. this is really short btw !!
He was most definitely indulging you. Which demon slayer has not had their fair share of blisters and skin rubbed raw from training? As Hashiras, it is absolutely not a surprise that you have all gotten to used to the pain. In fact, your hands were probably roughed up and used to it. Only idiots who had too much free time would even attempt to heal the wounds on their hands. Muichirou was, without a doubt, not of one them. Yet, he never objects when you would unscrew the cap of a small bottle of ointment and gesture for him to hold out his hands after a long day of training.
Maybe it came as a surprise to you the first time he obliged without any hesitation, but really, deep in both of your hearts, you both knew that this was just the calm before the storm – every act of affection that could be shown is a luxury. He never expresses his longing and love outright, though he has been more open ever since he came back from the blacksmiths, but neither did you. Perhaps it was because saying those three little words aloud would be your breaking points, the one thing that could prevent the both of you from joining the war. It’s really unfair but at least you are the given the chance to have these little peaceful moments where the only thing that mattered was him and you.
With one hand gently holding one of his, you dig lightly into the oil with your other. Gently running your finger across the rough surface of his calloused hands, you hum a little. You trace the lines on his palm and draw little circles on it, noting for the nth time how he’s not ticklish at all.
Muichirou watched you intently, his focus on you and only you. He watched as you determinedly but gently apply the ointment onto his hands, the way your brows furrowed ever so slightly, as if the rough edges of his palm frustrated you. He thinks that it does. He can guess why but doesn’t allow himself to think too deeply into it. After all, you too had the same rough edges and blisters on your palms but you didn’t seem to care about that. He notes with mild irritation at himself for not offering to care for your hands too. It’s unfortunate, but he realises that he’s too embarrassed to do the same. One day, he promises to himself as he continues watching you.
His left palm glistens a little from the oil but it’s a while before you switch to his other hand. Repeating the same procedure, you slowly apply the oil onto his right palm. Despite knowing how he was un-ticklish and numbed to small pains such as these, you still took great care in rubbing the ointment into his palm. You enjoyed this feeling. This feeling you get when you are able to care for him. It’s a warm and fulfilling one. When you are done, you slowly let go of his hand, seemingly reluctant to do so. To your surprise, Muichirou grabs and entwines your fingers together. A new kind of silence falls over you two.
The both of you stay in the state for a while. The oily sensation from the ointment on his hands wasn’t pleasant but neither of you minded. Holding his hand, you could feel how calloused his hands were and briefly wondered, if maybe, somehow, in another world, he would have the smoothest and prettiest hands you had ever seen. Hands that proved that he had never had to suffer through the ordeals he did in this one. In that moment, you wondered how much you would like to see him with smooth hands and if that was why you had even bothered to start this routine.
a/n: so it turns out i can still write, albeit terribly, when I'm avoiding work !!
