I’m confused about the new video, is another cat going to share Victoria’s solo with her? I really don’t know how to feel about this 😭 i actually liked the singing and the choreography but… I don’t know, cats is already arguably a bit more male centered and Victoria’s side plot (if it can even be called that) of her coming of age and discovering herself is so special to me. Especially her solo, so I don’t get it.
She already shares a moment whenever she’s lifted during the Jellicle ball which can be argued to be romantic, so.. omg this damn production is getting to everyone’s head
Yeahhh, I kind of had the same thought. The first impression I got was that it's only the pas de deux (aka the lift) specifically which is being altered, but rewinding back it sounds like both the white cat 'solo' and the pas de deux will be changed to partner dances. Admittedly I was kind of preparing for the white cat element to be scrubbed entirely or made completely innocent (the small changes the regular production has been making over the years have been trending less and less horny unfortunately), so I'm not completely devastated or blind-sighted, but I also have strong feelings about the original and the theme of it all so it's not a concept I'm thrilled about. I'm reserving judgement until I see the full choreo, but that bit did get a :/ out me. At least the choreo we've seen looks cute.
(And I'm weeping into my fucking hands at the indication of how society has changed the past 40 years. How did we get less sex-positive since the 80s?)

Kids books is probably not the best way to word it, you can enjoy them at every age, including your childhood, as you get older you may find new truths in them, but they're still good for any age.

Can't help but appreciate how well the body language translates through VR.
The frantic head turning while looking for a place to stash the grenade, the double take as they realize the drawer they chose was FULL of grenades, and the "WTF" hand gesture as they point in disbelief at the drawer full of grenades? Chef's kiss.

This Oasis boot on youtube is a real gem because the guy recording got a seat right near the stage AND the theater door so you can watch the characters coming and going all the time. Aka the most fun seats in the house, which come with amenities like Getting The Bejesus Scared Out of You, Hearing Tumblebrutus Blow A Raspberry at Macavity, Getting The Bejesus Scared Out of You Again Two Seconds Later, and also Looking At Sillabub From Two Feet Away
unrelated but i love jemima being right behind macavity here. everyone else was presumably shaking in their boots watching deuteronomy get taken but jemima (two apples tall) was seemingly like 'IVE GOT YOU PAPA' & was directly on macavity's heels. top crawling speeds. phasers set to kill.

its nice that TJB's closing has started a discussion about broadway's finances, but it has been one(1) day and if I have to hear one more person go 'that shitty original ran for twenty years and TJB didnt even get one!!!!11!!1!' or 'hmmm broadway productions clearly have too many costs. . . ... . .maybe paying the performers less would help?🤔' im killing everyone
So Patricia Zhou (Cassandra for the new prod) got interviewed by an entertainment article and she talks a little about the production in it. Nothing groundbreaking but I thought it was interesting.
(And apparently whoever wrote the article confused Chrissie Cartwright and Drew McOnie; whenever it mentions a Chrissie it means Drew. lmfao)
A few different times now I've heard performers on WCD say that most of the jellicles went to the Ball fully assuming that Gus would be the Choice-- and that's not Canon™ per say; I've definitely heard more performers parrot the 'competing to die' thing comparatively. But the interpretation of the Jellicle Ball as a family reunion where everyone catches up with each other and then say goodbye to grampa at the end is so sweet and charming to me
i always love how the cats spend all of act 1 basically trying to outdo one another (tugger interrupts jenny + m&r interrupt bustopher + half the damn cast tries to interrupt Pekes + the Ball is just a series of cats interrupting each other over and over again for 11 minutes straight) but when Gus rolls up at the beginning of act 2 everyone immediately shuts up and sits down and listens to him sing. ough.
