[[ I just saw Phantom of the Opera three times live on Broadway in the past four days while I'm in New York for a journalism conference with my school.
It's the last time I am going to get to see Phantom on Broadway until the inevitable revival sometime in the future. I really wanted to see it for my birthday this year in October, as it would mark the 20th anniversary of the first time I saw it (which was also live on Broadway, when I was seven years old), but of course, unfortunately, it will be closed by then. It only has a month left. It does not seem like they will be extending it again. It's so tragic that it's ending after 35 years and it will be so strange to have something that is not the Phantom of the Opera in the Majestic Theatre. It feels wrong. But I wish whatever comes next good luck dealing with the Phantom that will of course remain in the Majestic. I hope there aren't too many accidents.
I have seen Phantom live 8 times. 2 on tour and 6 on Broadway. I want to make it 10 and the other 2 be in London, when I eventually, finally go to Europe, but I have no idea when that will be (although I would of course love to see it more times live than 10, I wouldn't stop there). I wish I got to see it in Vegas but that left before I got the chance.
You had a Phantastic run, Phantom, and I will miss you here. It sucks that you're leaving right before I move out to the East Coast. 35 wonderful years. See you at the inevitable Broadway revival.
It's over now, the Music of the Night! ]]

Tell Me a Story: Season 2, Episode 2, “Writer’s Block” - Ashley’s second single is released, and it does even better than the first single, probably due to the publicity from her accident. Ashley gets mad when she finds out her publicity agents still want her to do TV appearances to “exploit her trauma,” as she puts it. She gets her publicity manager over to her house and yells at him, and he eventually agrees to do things her way, but she gets mad and walks out of the house.
Beau, being her faithful bodyguard, follows her, even though she starts “trespassing” on her neighbor’s property and goes to their stables. I say “trespassing” in quote marks because she later says she is close to her neighbors and they let her come over to ride the horses anytime. Ashley and Beau bond while visiting the horses, and he talks her into giving it another chance. She goes back in and agrees to do more interviews, but radio only.
Ashley’s assistant is sent away to see if her guitar could be fixed after her outburst last episode that broke both the mirror and the guitar. Crazy Stalker Fanboy from the end of last episode is seen in a car following the assistant. Crazy Stalker Fanboy talks to the assistant outside the place she was trying to have the guitar fixed at, and he comments on the guitar. They talk a bit, and he gets her phone number so they can talk more.
Ashley’s radio interview was going well until the interviewer started asking questions Ashley wasn’t prepared for, and she had to cut the interview short when asked about what her future holds, since she doesn’t know. She doesn’t even know if she will be able to sing again in the future. She goes to her room, upset, her mom (who is also her manager) tries to comfort her and apologize for pushing her into this, but she too upset to talk to her about it.
The last thing we see from this storyline is Ashley and Beau having another moment when Beau gives Ashley a panic button she could push when she needs it, and he will “come running.”

[[ Just started the first episode of Tell Me a Story season 2 and one of the fairy tales this time is “Beauty and the Beast” and their “”Beast”” character is basically Female!Phantom of the Opera including her brother just outright saying that ]]
Tell Me a Story is a CBS dark anthology series retelling fairytales. In season 2, one of the fairytales they are retelling is Beauty and the Beast. I am counting this one in with Phantom adaptations, just like I did with the Italian miniseries, because any Beauty and the Beast story where the Beast is disfigured naturally and covers their face with a mask is Phantommy enough to me.
Tell Me a Story: Season 2, Episode 1, “Curse” - For this show, our Beast/Phantom character is Ashley Rose Pruitt. Yes, a female Beast/Phantom. The first episode tells her Phantom/Beast Origin Story, showing how she gets disfigured.
Ashley Rose is a newly-discovered singer. Before being “discovered”, she sang “anywhere (she) can”, eventually leading to her YouTube channel, where she developed a fanbase, and now she has a record deal and her debut album, called Thorns, will be coming out soon. We meet her at a party for the release of her first single from her debut album. When she leaves the party to go home, as soon as she gets in her car and starts the engine, the car explodes and she gets severely burned in the fire on one side of her body, because she got out of the car mostly unharmed after the initial explosion, but when getting out, there was a bigger explosion and the side of her that was facing the car got burned.
She is unable to sing for a while because of the damage the smoke did to her lungs, and she must wear a mask and gloves that are compression sleeves for her skin grafts and to help her scars heal. After the explosion, she gets more body guards. One of her new body guards is a man named Beau, who obviously is going to be our Beauty (or “Christine” for the Phantom side) in this show. Beau is a former police officer who got suspended so now his dad got him a job as a security guard with the company he works with. Ashley meets Beau as he is driving her home. This episode mostly shows her dealing with the accident.
Beau goes into Ashley’s room to check on her after he knocked and got no answer. He walks in, but she isn’t around. He then goes onto her balcony to check how secure it is. While he is out there, Ashley comes back in and sits down on her bed. She starts playing her guitar and sings to check on her voice, but she can only get two words out before it hurts her throat too much to continue. She then sees Beau on her balcony and gets mad at him. She screams at him (which probably would be worse on her throat than the singing, I think), and he gets out. She then gets mad, looks at her reflection and we see all her scars for the first time, covering her arm, shoulder, and face.
She then screams at her reflection and breaks the mirror with her guitar.
At the end we see a Crazy Stalker Fanboy watching her videos and burning himself on candles. He’s probably the person who made her car explode.
