I know it's fun in fics but I truly don't think Shane/Ilya would be that open about their sex lives in the Centaurs group chat, they'd really want to keep it professional, but I do think it would take the Cens like half a season to notice that they often both went radio silent in the chat at the same time or disappear from a party at the same time. So the joke is that they're leaving to have sex. They're not texting back because they're having sex. But it's really not serious, they're probably just having lunch without their phones or watching Netflix in the hotel room. Like yeah it's funny to wiggle their eyebrows suggestively when Shane/Ilya come back from the bathroom together but obviously they weren't hooking up in the bathroom, that would be unhinged.

ilya crucially has a stronger sense of right & wrong & justice intrinsically than shane. which is what we never talk abt. shane bases his morals off the world around him & is much more willing to accept the standards set around him. this is not to say ilyas moral compass points due north but rather that whatever it is he believes, he'll die on that hill. he would usurp the government first & shane would not understand taking it down. btw

AGAIN we r not considering the politics of it all which is why i need ppl to start talking abt ilya being born in a country that stopped existing 6 months later (ussr) wayyy more often. shane has grown up hearing abt canadas perfection & how it's so correct & better than the usa (despite the same skeletons in its closet). not to mention yuna's "play by the rules, beat them at their own game" mentality vs ilya being raised in the gang-heavy, crime-heavy, unstable post-soviet rebuild with a corrupt military father (even if protected by his father's wealth/position he was not blind to it) & a mother whose death went hush hush
