With every step that Caleb took up the stairs, he was careful not to drop the injured blue jay in his right hand.
His grasp on the little blue bird was ever gentle and tender as the blonde stumbled into his mother's bedroom.
Patience was soundly snoozing alongside Cadman, and Caleb quietly cleared his throat to speak to her.
"Ah, M-Mother?" the blonde began in a timid whisper, standing over his sleeping mother. "Mother? ... Mother?"
After the third call, Patience's lids began to open gradually as soon as she heard her son's voice.
She wiped the sleep from her eyes with a closed fist as she turned to Caleb while blinking a little.
"C-Caleb?" Patience said in a sluggish tone as she slowly sat up in her bed, somewhat awake.
With a small yawn and stretch of her arms, she asked her son, "What is it, love?"
"I'm sorry to have woken you, Mother," Caleb sincerely apologized, his voice as small and fragile as the blue jay that he presented to Patience.
As he sniffled, tears formed in the corners of his brown eyes.
"Um. I found... I found her in your garden. She's clearly hurt, and I wish to help her, but I..."
His tears finally spilled, sliding down his cheeks. "... I-I don't know how," he told Patience, quietly weeping. "Am I in trouble?"
"Oh, Caleb, darling...," Patience spoke quietly, putting her hand on Caleb's cheek as she leaned forward to kiss his sweet forehead.
"It's okay, love. Of course you're not in trouble. You made the right decision by bringing her to me. Here..."
Taking the injured blue jay from her son with care, she slipped out of bed.
"Poor thing...," Patience whispered, referring to the blue jay. "Let's take care of her injury downstairs."
Caleb nodded and followed his mother out of her bedroom as they headed to the stairs.

After Patience fashioned a splint for the injured bird using a twig and some twine, she wrapped the blue jay in a bit of cloth before placing the little bird inside a woven basket and closing the lid.
"Darkness will encourage her to rest," she informed to her son, showing him a soft smile.
Caleb made a gesture of prayer by pressing his hands together. "I will pray to God every day to ask for his help in healing her."
Patience wrapped Caleb in a hug. "I will as well."
With a gentle smile, Caleb fell into his mother's embrace.

Tears were streaming down Luz's cheeks as she packed the essentials she needed in her backpack while in her bedroom at night: snacks, money, extra clothes, her anime jacket, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and soap.
She also slipped in her Azura book so that she'd have something to read while on the road.
The teen was planning on running away from home and finding a new town to live in.
Luz really loved her mother with all her heart and she was slowly, but surely, starting to warm up to the idea of Beardo Philip being her stepdad.
However, ever since Alma, her little sister, came into the family, she's been feeling especially left out.
Alma received so much attention from Philip and Camila that they rarely had time to spend with Luz.
Their lack of nerdy activities together made Luz wonder if they had as much love for her as they did for Alma.
Luz's third sibling, a newborn, only added to her feeling of isolation from Philip and Camila, as he received the most attention.
Luz had a love for both her siblings, but she didn't enjoy feeling alone.
It was impossible for Luz not to blame herself.
She must have done something wrong for Camila and Philip to stop caring about her.
Perhaps it was due to her being the only child from her mother's previous relationship.
She felt like a mistake.
Putting both arms through the shoulder straps of her backpack, Luz headed towards the door and opened it.
"Goodbye," She whispered sadly as she took one last look at her room before closing the door.

While seated at the dining room table, Luz began to compose a goodbye letter with a pencil.
She sniffled as she wrote it, trying to avoid wetting the paper with her tears.
The letter was concise.
Dear Mom and Philip, I'm sorry for being such a horrible person and daughter. I plan on taking the bus to a new town. I'll miss you both.

After writing the letter, Luz opened the front door and left on her own.
Her departure left her with tears in her eyes that spilled over her waterline and sorrowful sobs that clawed their way up her throat.

Philip and Camila were in a blissful state of sleep while their newborn rested between them as they snuggled in bed.
When Philip slowly awoke, opening his eyes, he turned towards his beautiful wife and baby, and couldn't help but smile softly at both of them.
"I'll be right back," He gently whispered to them as he got up and went downstairs for a glass of water.

Flicking the kitchen light switch, Philip walked towards the cabinet and opened it, grabbing a glass cup.
Approaching the sink, he turns on the water and fills his cup with an appropriate amount.
He then turns the faucet off.
As Philip drew his cup to his lips, he noticed a piece of paper lying on top of the dining room table.
Setting his cup down on the counter, he walked over to the table and picked up the writing paper.
Philip's blue eyes widened as he scanned the heart-wrenching words that were written down and immediately rushed out of the front door without delay, nearly forgetting to close it.

As her backpack sat beside her on the bus, Luz sighs in sadness.
She really was going to miss Gravesfield.
"Luz!" Her ears perk up at the sound of a male voice calling out to her from outside.
The tone was filled with agony.
"Huh?" As Luz looks out of her window, she sees Philip running on the sidewalk after the bus with a panicked look on his face.
"Philip?" Luz whispered as she got out of her seat.
"Wait, stop! I wanna get off!"
The bus driver stops the bus and Luz runs down the aisle and jumps off.
Luz then feels a tight hug from a set of arms as the bus begins to drive away.
"Oh, Luz," Philip began with a soft whisper, "Please refrain from scaring me like that again. Your Mother and I have a deep love for you. You are a wonderful person and daughter, and I consider you a blessing in my life."
Philip had no idea that Luz felt that way.
He planned to arrange a time tomorrow for him, her, and Camila to converse.
Building a more open and stable relationship with his oldest was Philip's objective.
"I'm sorry, Phili--" Luz corrected herself with a sniffle. "Dad. And thank you."
She sniffled again, hugging her father tightly. "I love you."
• she ends up living in homeless shelter. Luz has to lie with different names and backstorys to make sure Philip or Camila can't track her down.
• after about a month, each police department in America (not sure how it works) has been on the look out for Luz.
• meanwhile, Camila has been worried sick. She can't sleep, can't eat, and can't even get up out of bed on most days.
• Philip is not only worried for his wife, but is doing everything he can to find Luz.
• eventually, Luz got caught. She was trying to steal food, failed, and was arrested.
• when the police found out who she was, she flew back to Connecticut. Philip picked her up, and was not only relieved, but upset and angry for putting not only herself, but he and Camila through.
• let's just say some things were said back and forth, and it ended in Luz spilling on why she REALLY left. And all it made Philip feel was guilt.
• when Camila was told what happened, she felt even worse, blaming herself for putting Luz through all those bad thoughts.
Philip is probably a hairy boi, so when he’s hard at work and shirtless, Camila can’t help but stare~

Beardo Philip: (Is hard at work outside mowing the lawn on a hot day while shirtless and sweaty. He recently became familiar with the lawn mower and its functions.)
Camila: (Is staring at watching him inside through the window while clutching her coffee cup. Her glasses are slightly steamy and she's blushing. He's very... hairy.)
Luz: (Arrives downstairs and notices her mom standing in front of the window staring at something outside. She approaches her with a sense of curiosity and a hint of concern.) Mom, is everything okay? What's going on outside?
Camila: (Hearing her daughter's voice, she emits a surprised squeak, immediately shutting the blinds. Her cheeks heat up more.) NOTHING! I mean, (nervous laughter) nothing, mija. (Ruffles her hair) Don't worry about it. (Places a small kiss on Luz's cheek. Afterwards, she takes a nervous sip of her coffee and makes a mental note to watch Philip hard at work when her daughter is at school.)

He did try an learn Spanish, but hes not very good at speaking another language just yet. He knows a few, like mi amor and some other names like Mija and Nina, but that's basically it.
Does Belos look like a palismonster from canon? Did the creator of the mask, the replacement of Evergreen, look like a monster? Are there four elements replacing sweet, slime, ice and fire? If Amity is an abomination, then does abomination replace candy?

After watching Fionna and Cake i had this little idea in my head:
Basically, Marceline and Simon switch places, now Simon is the child who survived the MW and Marceline is the adult who takes care of him, most of this AU is based on age swaps of different characters.
What matters now is seeing Marceline and the little Simon trying to have fun in the middle of a post apocalyptic world, where they have nothing but each other.
