The girl moved her hand from the hilt and watched as the blonde lowered her catch. Honestly, part of her felt stupid for assuming a girl near her own age would try to hunt her, but she’s seen infected younger than she, so it wouldn’t surprise her if someone slightly older tried to high-jack her for everything she had on her.
“Just going into town,” she nodded, motioning over her shoulder, still keeping her distance from the other girl, “trying to get to know my way around.”
Kinsley lied, but the stranger didn’t need to know that.
“You haven’t been around here long then?” Lizzie asked. “Do you need help getting there? I have to go towards town to get back to where I’m staying anyway. I could show the way if you wanted me to?” Honestly, it was just nice to see someone her own age for once- and have a conversation with someone knew that didn’t start with ‘where are you parents?’.
