Today is the International Day of the Girl Child and it is a day to celebrate all the girls in the world. Beyond this, it is a day to appreciate the goodness of being female and the importance of girls, ladies and women to our world. At the @AOAfricaOrg, we believe that making quality education available and accessible to every one irrespective of gender and social status is a key factor to building a better world. My Family Supports Quality Education... Meet my Mother, my Sister and one of my three Brothers. My entire family was actively involved in the project and we are grateful God for the success and the impact made. While my brothers provided funds and logistics support, my sister; CEO of Flomos Bags, produced all the school bags, my mum worked with my sister to provide feeding. Living The Life Of Impacts... I wake up every morning asking myself what next to do towards making the world a better place; the next problems to solve and the next impacts to make. Ahead of the resumption of primary and secondary schools in Nigeria, I and my team @aoafricaorg visited Hope Orphanage in Akure to share love with them and make some donations. That day, we also celebrated the birthday of my younger brother who contributed immensely to the success of the project. Matter of factly, my entire family did (watch out for my next post). Yesterday, on my Birthday, I received an email from the African Youth Awards congratulating me on my nomination as one of the 100 Most Influential Young Africans and for this I am very grateful. It is indeed such a great honour to be sharing this nomination with these incredible young Africans across various sectors; from 26 African Countries. Each of us making impacts in our own ways and doing our best towards making our continent and the world a better place. I thank you all for finding me worthy of this nomination and I am grateful to God for making me an inspiration to young people all over the world. Growing up, I didn't know there was any other type of potato apart from the sweet potatoes that we planted in our backyard. However, when my sister started baking and making several new stuff in the house, I got to know about Irish Potatoes. The general understanding about this tuber is that it is almost tasteless and as far as we were concerned, it was doomed for mince pie filling. So some days ago at the farmers market, I found myself staring at the potatoes and said to myself "Louis, can you consider how many awesome meals you can make from this almost condemned tuber". Well, at least in this part of the world. So, without surfing the internet for recipes, I decided to make a three course meal from it and yesterday I hosted an Irish Potato Dinner 😂 😂 😂 - For my appetizers, I made "Seasoned Potato Chips with Chakalaka Sauce" - My Entrée/Main Course was an "Irish Potato and Beef Pottage with Cabbage dressing and a sprinkle of Tomato Purée" - Served with Cucumber base, Sweetened Yoghurt and Chocolate crumbs, I made Irish Potato Balls with Banana and Pineapple flavours" as my dessert. They may not look perfect but these meals taste absolutely awesome; #divine. Moral: In life, NEVER UNDERESTIMATE ANYONE. Value everyone and treat everyone with respect irrespective of age, background, race, religion, gender, level of education and/or social status because at the end of the day, we are all "humans" of this world. Who knows, those people that you write off today, may end up becoming great people. If you are at the verge of giving up, thinking that your life is meaningless, please DON'T GIVE UP because there is light at the end of the tunnel. You just have to look within and find your own sweetness; find your niche and therein blossom. Always know that you too can be great and don't try to be like anyone else. You are Unique...
