Zag you're the closest person atm and I'm just so confused. Can you explain the different "family" words and what they mean? So far I've found put about "brother" and "parent" but surely there's more? I mean why distinguish brother from family unless there are other words?

oh, hello Beanix! i’m going to speak in the assumption of a stereotypical family (which is a mother, father, and children) to make this slightly easier.

parents are the caretakers of the family, typically to which their children are biologically derived from. in a stereotypical family there are only two parents, the mother (female term for caretaker) and father (male term for caretaker). the mother is the one who gives life to the children while the father is the one who provided the… hmidon’tknowifyouknowaboutsex— the materials necessary for the mother to give life in the first place. so then bam! they have children. i’m assuming you know what a child is.

brother is typically the male term for a sibling, and sister being the female term. siblings are the term for children of the same caretakers in relevance of one of the children. oh, that makes no sense does it— ok, so say you are a child and there are two other children that are the offspring of the same parents as you. they would be your siblings. depending on their identities, they can also be identified as “brothers” or “sisters.”

this is all of your immediate family, aka the family you’re directly related to. there’s also terms like aunt and uncle, which are the sisters and brothers of your parents, and cousins, which are the children of your aunts/uncles, and grandparents, which are the parents of your parents, and then the whole complex family tree, but we don’t have to get into that tonight.

What I'm trying to say is that our whole family is dysfunctional because of who's in it. It's not a stereotypical family, like Zag was talking about. There aren't two parents, just me who fluctuates between a mom and a dad (and the god who possesses my body and soul).

Besides, it's not a bad thing to be dysfunctional. As long as everyone gets along and loves each other, then everything will be alright.

uh… I feel like the conversation has gotten a bit away from me, but I wasn’t trying to say your still-forming family was stereotypical. I was just trying to give an example that made sense to my friend. also, just because you aren’t a stereotypical family doesn’t inherently mean you’re a dysfunctional family. I don’t think that’s what you’re trying to say, but it sounds like it.

also… if everyone gets along fine and loves each other, that’s not a dysfunctional family?? a dysfunctional family is defined as a family in which conflict, misbehavior, and often child neglect or abuse on the part of individual parents occur continuously and regularly. if you’re trying to create a family and actively deciding to call it dysfunctional, I have some concerns. just food for thought.

Hey again Zag!!! ^_^ I was wondering if you would tell me more about those "trolls" and "sea monsters" you mentioned yesterday? I haven't heard of any of them before -@beanix05

oh!! they’re a part of my world back home, on Icafir [isa-fur].

trolls I haven’t seen much of, mostly because I avoid caves, but they’re these huge humanoid creatures with tusks and a lot of strength. their appearance depends on the biome you’re in. there’s the three most common ones, which are forest trolls, mountain trolls, and frost trolls. nasty creatures who attack on sight with their clubs or axes. arrows are ineffective to them so you have to get up close, which sucks because they hit with so much strength. it’s important to have good armor and a shield before you go caving in those areas!

sea serpents I also haven’t seen much of; they live in oceans and deep oceans everywhere, though mainly warm oceans. if you’re swimming in the ocean on anything and see one of them, RUN. they’re these super long, bright-colored, snake-like beasts who attack any vessel it sees within its territory. they will usually try to bite you or capsize whatever transportation you’re in by jumping up into the air and slamming you. if you’re too far away, though, they’ll shoot boiling water at you. it’s very hard to fight these things off unless you have weaponry that works in water or have somehow beached the creature.

Oh! Trolls sound very similar to what I've heard about Piglins!! They don't live in caves (instead they live in the Nether) but they have tusks and crazy strength! I've heard they look like pigs and hunt in packs? It also sounds like they use axes and crossbows as well. I don't know, I've only been on the Nether roof before, and even then it dries me out pretty badly. As for sea serpents, do you think they would taste good? You said they are brightly colored so that MUST mean they are tasty. (Ignore the coral incident that was the opposite of tasty)

oh, I’ve interacted with piglins!! they aren’t so bad. if you’re wearing gold, they’re actually pretty friendly. I’m assuming good means something important to their civilization, like that you’re an ally or something. it makes sense, considering gold seems to be the only common weapon/armor material around the Nether. I’ve traded with piglins before, and while sometimes it’s hard to get a good deal out of them, they’re generally ok traders. definitely less complicated than the villagers.

I wasn’t able to explore the Nether much back home (I kept falling into lava because my damn hooves get caught up on the local flora), but traveling through the Nether roof is definitely much easier. I had no idea it existed until I went through the local portal! it must suck to have it dehydrate you so much, though. maybe bring some water bottles with you when you travel?

and… I don’t— I don’t think sea serpents taste good. they’re mostly muscle, so there’s not a lot of, you know, actual MEAT to eat. it would be all sinewy.

oh! that’s fascinating. where I’m from, when you die, your entire being dissipates into exp and the remaining exp returns to aid respawning. unless you have no exp when you die, which then, you just… don’t. respawn. but, uh— that hasn’t happened to me, yet, so!
