Alllllso, my girl Lisa Prank released a video last week and I talked a lot about it! You can watch it here RIGHT NOW:
Tune in to Radio 1190's Local Shakedown today from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Awesome dudes/dudetttes Fingers of the Sun will be on to talk about the making of their new record, What is This Life?, in advance of its big ol' release show July 5th at the Hi-Dive! And of course, you'll be getting a sneak peek/listen if you tune in today! (Hey psst... awesome photo of Fingers by Tammy Shine!))
Sooooo, tomorrow I’m going on Local Shakedown in Boulder with Crab Lab to talk about musical stuff, and probably about at least one or two of the other million projects I have going on (Gato also keeps pretty damn busy, TUNE IN TO FIND OUT HOW!) Local Shakedown has been going since I first moved to Denver, and it helped me find out about a lot of great stuff before I knew anyone here. Radio 1190 is pretty great, and you’d probably miss them if they were gone, so it’s a good thing to listen to and support them, I think (regardless of the guest, but, you know, it’s me and Crab Lab, counter the wordsmith Coco Davies, so this one might get pretty good, y’all).
Tomorrow on Local Shakedown: SARA CENTURY + CRAB LAB live in the studio! They are going to play and then we're going to talk about music and art and the play Ms. Century is putting on in June. So excited! Tune in, y'all!
Today on Local Shakedown, I've got John Baxter from ZetaKaye House coming in to talk about Volume 6 of This Ain't No Cowtown, a Colorado-centric music and comedy compilation that just came out this week. Tune in and hear us chat about music/art/DIY in Denver/Boulder!
This Ain't No Cowtown Volume 6 comes out tomorrow! Download it for free/pay-what-you-can directly from ZetaKaye House's Cowtown Bandcamp. Musicians graciously donated their music, so all of the proceeds from this edition of the comp could go to supporting 7th Circle Music Collective, one of Colorado's best all ages, all-welcome show and practice spaces.
PICTUREPLANE ☥ SELF CONTROL
~mercury in retrorave~
Normally I dont feel the need to viralize the already heavily viral music project of my old Rhinoceropolis friend Travis Egedy because frankly he doesn’t generally need it. The kid kicked something off for himself many years ago and has seemingly been in perpetual inertia ever since.
But upon the premiere of his new cyberpunk music video for his new track “SELF CONTROL” I felt it necessary to put this out there.
I’ll let the music and the swoonworthy vocals of Miss Grace Hall speak for themselves.. ☂
Tune in today at 4 p.m. to hear a live set from Bollywood Life! You might know Anton from his exploits in StaG (which he is still very much a part of) but he's also been doing some really sweet stuff as Bollywood Life while living in LA. He'll be in Colorado for a visit, playing live at 1190 and then later in the evening at Rhinoceropolis for a Fantasia 2014 fundraiser. Anton also says he'll be back in July to play at the Underground Music Showcase with StaG and Bollywood Life, but you should tune in today and hear this dude in real time!
Tune into Local Shakedown this Friday, May 16, to hear a live set from Bollywood Life. Then, head over to Rhino on Friday night to see him live! This show is a fundraiser for Fantasia 2014, an amazing annual installation and performance event happening this June. See a full line-up for Fantasia 2014 here.
