“h-he can’t?” cassie hadn’t known that the same rules that applied with zuriel applied with lucifer. the idea that mckinley had been so far gone to the point of letting the devil inside him made her sick to her stomach. shaking her head, she let out a bitter laugh before sniffling again. “i was thinking about what you said last night and i need you….i need you to promise me something.” she paused, looking back up at him nervously. “the second that seal breaks, if it breaks — you’re getting me out of here and you’re not gonna let me turn back. i don’t care if you end up leaving me in the middle of nowhere or if you decide you don’t want this anymore but…i-i can’t stay here. i don’t wanna keep watching people i care about die like this. so, if you care about me like you say you do, you’ll keep that promise. please, lochlan.”
“no. that’s how it works with in angel. lucifer is still an angel even though... well, you know.” he laughed a bit, looking around the cemetery. it was a pretty creepy graveyard. the vampire couldn’t help but wonder what possessed the girl to stop by. “i promise. i’ll probably just bring you along, wherever i end up going.” he smiled down at the girl, pulling her close as he wrapped his arms around her. the hug was held too much meaning behind it. “i won’t let anything happen to you. okay? we’ll get out of this place together...”
