Lukas was born angry. He came out of the womb screaming as if something were terribly wrong. Doctors couldn’t calm him. Hell, his own mother couldn’t even calm him. So, after he was born he just cried and screamed.

Life at home was shit. It didn’t take him long to realize that. He was a personal punching to his parents and every time he so much as looked at them wrong he was screamed at or hit. He learned to live his life the way it was handed to him and it wasn’t fun. He was angry and scared all the time. During the day he went to school with long sleeves and and shitty attitude and then he fucked around after school until he was forced to go home and endure another evening of hell.

He practically lived in detention after school and that’s because he couldn’t keep his mouth shut or his fists to himself. It was detention that led him to Selene and Bram. It was like his life changed that day and the three of them were bound to be together in one way or another. Selene became their obvious leader and Lukas would follow her anywhere.

Most days it seemed like Selene and Bram were the only ones that could keep him grounded. Still, he was angry and he hated life. Before they came alone he was in a reall dark place. He wanted nothing more than to die and escape the hell that was his home life. He’d resorted to hurting himself among other bad habits. Smoking, drinking, you name it. Anything to make him not have to deal with his shitshow of a life.

The minute he turned eighteen he dropped out of school and left home. It was hard being on his own at first so he did what he had to to survive. But soon enough he was with Selene and Bram and everything seemed okay for a while. They partied, did the drugs that Otis gave them, and did whatever the fuck they wanted. For a moment Lukas felt like he had control.

When Otis offered a newer, better life for the trio Lukas was not going to decline. He didn’t even fully think the offer over fully before he said yes. The deed was done though and he was able to start fresh. Besides, he’d always been a night owl anyways. Being a vampire was weird at first and Lukas really struggled with impulse control. The first thing he did was run home and get rid of his parents. He doesn’t feel an ounce of remorse for what he did and Selene and Bram know better than to bring it up.

He caught feelings for Selene before he caught them for Bram. The whole thing was tricky and Lukas never thought himself to be the type to be tied down to another person. He wanted them both but in the mean time he just sleeps with them both. Besides, things are easier that way.

He doesn’t really follow rules. He never has. Even stupid vampire rules. He’ll drink what he wants and from who he wants. He’s not obnoxious about it and tries to keep it on the down low. He just really prefers to taste of fresh human blood to blood bags or animal blood. It’s probably why he doesn’t vibe with Mavis.

He parties a lot. He’s been hooked on the shit Otis has given him since before he was turned and that never changed. He really likes coke. It keeps him awake and it makes him feel good. Plus, he’s going to live forever so at this point he might as well enjoy the ride.

Living with the only two people he actually cares about is wild to him. He never had a stable home life and sometimes he still gets overwhelmed having a decent one. Their place may not be big or fancy but it’s the best home he’s ever had.

Jack and Zero Skellington are so strange to him. Demons are strange and Lukas doesn’t trust either of them. He avoids Zero on a good day and tries to cause Jack as much hell as he can simply because Otis tells him to. He doesn’t mind. Besides, it’s fun.

He enjoys going for runs. He knows he’s faster than others so he goes late at night when most people are asleep or wouldn’t be out and about.

Don’t call him ‘Luke’ or ‘Lu’ unless you’re Selene and Bram. He hates it unless it’s coming from one of them. Lukas is just fine.

Honestly, he’s just taking it a day, or night, at a time. Most of his time is spent with Selene and Bram or doing something for Otis. He’s trying to figure shit out but isn’t very good at it. He’s more of a punch first and think later kind of guy so focusing and trying to figure out the grand scheme of life isn’t really his forte.

Selene was looking for a change of scenery. She was bored, she wanted to get drunk, and she wanted to cause as many problems as possible. So far the night was a bust and it was honestly pissing her off a little bit. She couldn’t find a single person in this bar interesting enough to mess with and she was about to call it a night until someone who looked at least a little interesting sat next to her. She ordered herself another shot, flipped her hair, and stared at the person next to her with curious eyes. “Are you as bored as I am? I think this place needs something to liven it up a bit. It’s deader in here than a cemetery.”

Lukas had agreed to go with Selene to Neverland. It wasn’t really the vibe for tonight, but we went nonetheless. The crowd wasn’t the one he would have typically surrounded himself with, but he was trying his best to enjoy himself as he sipped on his drink. When Selene asked if he was bored he smirked at her. “Glad you asked. Of course I’m bored. This place is a dud, you’re right. I’m certain there’s something we can do to liven it up.” His eyes scanned the place, trying to find something, anything, that stuck out to him to enjoy. The people there were drab though and Lukas felt like him and Selene were the life of the party there, despite just sitting at the bar. “Did you have an idea in mind? You usually have something up your sleeve.”

“You need to fuck off,” Lukas snapped back quickly with a scowl on their face. “I’m perfectly calm. If you can’t see that then maybe you need to get your eyes checked.” He shrugged nonchalantly. “Regardless, I’m not going to let some twerp like you tell me what the fuck to do. Maybe you’re the one that needs to calm the fuck down.” Lukas rolled his eyes at the other. Zero often got on Lukas’ nerves and he was always quick to shut the other down. There was just something about the guy and the fact he was weaseling his way into Lukas’ space that really just pissed him off, so he tried to just stay clear of him all together. “Did you actually have a reason to still be here or are you just trying to annoy me with your presence?” he asked with raised brows. “Seriously, just like...fuck off and leave me alone. I’m not in the damn mood.”

“What’s in it for you? You’re around the hottest person in Animania and you get to drink. Stupid.” She rolled her eyes. Sometimes she wondered if she wanted to drain him completely and run off with Bram. At least he didn’t annoy her as much. Still, as much as she hated to admit it, Lukas made her soft sometimes too. There was just always bloodshed first. “I’m not against being stuck with Bram and you know that.” She grabbed her jacket and gave him a blank look. “You are already frustrating me greatly. Can we go?”

“Ooh, someone’s a bit full of themselves,” he teased with a smirk. “Joking, of course. We all know you’re the looks of the group. And brains, I suppose.” After he had his jacket and boots on he ran a hand through his hair to fix it a bit. “Yes, we can go. It wouldn’t be a normal night in our household if I wasn’t frustrating you just a little bit.” He let out a soft laugh and gave her a small grin, trying to pull himself out of the mood he was in so he could enjoy himself with her that night. “Shall we?”

There had been a specific shirt of Lukas’ that had been missing for sometime and he’d been itching to wear it the next time he went out. It was a black shirt, of course, so he had assumed it had gotten lost in the sea of his black wardrobe. After finally caving and doing his laundry he still hadn’t found it. He walked into Bram’s room after he was certain it was gone and looked at the boy sitting on his bed. “You have my shirt,” he said, positive it was in Bram’s room. He went over to Bram’s closet, began going through the hung shirts and any clothing items he saw on the floor. When he finally found it he held it up and smelled it. It just smelled like...Bram. “Is this clean?” he asked when he turned around to face him. “And stop taking my shit without asking.”

Selene rolled her eyes. Like she hadn’t seen Lukas naked more times than she could count. He should just be happy she was bothering with him despite his grumpy mood. “We are going out,” she said simply, throwing his leather jacket to him. “I’m so tired of you moping and the Faux Ghost has free drinks for women tonight. So….we’re going to get drunk and have some fucking fun before I drain the blood from you out of pure boredom. And some mild frustration.”

Lukas sat up and caught the jacket in his hand. “Faux Ghost,” he repeated. “Alright. Fine. What’s in it for me?” he asked with a raised brow. Not that he really had a choice in the matter but egging her on was always a good time. He stood up from the bed and slipped the leather jacket on. “You could drain my blood out of boredom, but then you’d be stuck with only Bram. Who would keep you on your toes then?” He glanced around the room for his boots, spotting them under a hoodie that was on the floor. “Or give you mild frustration, that is.”

“Dude,” Lukas said as he came through the door. “I think I’m going insane.” He plopped down on the couch next to Bram and leaned back into the cushion. “Hand me one of those controllers,” he said in reference to the game on the television. He didn’t really want to play a game but he felt there was nothing better to do. “Anyways,” he went on, “I feel restless. Like I just don’t want to do anything but I also need to do something at all times. It’s really frustrating.” He glanced over at the boy. “I was hoping you might want to go fuck some shit up tonight,” he said bluntly. “You know, maybe we could just find something hectic to do.” He shrugged. “If not it’s whatever.” He felt a bit dumb, but he was tired of feeling like this and thought maybe if he gave in a little his friends could help.

Lukas felt as if he were in some sort of rut. He was restless and bored most days but couldn’t really find much motivation to do anything. He’d gone out a few times but left before it was even bar close. Video games weren’t appealing, pulling pranks or scaring people for the hell of it wasn’t really paying off like normally, so staying home most of the time was what he did. He was in his bedroom, laying on his bed while scrolling through his phone when the door was burst open and Selene appeared. “Most people knock, you know. I could have been naked.” He smirked at her. “What do you want?”

Selene rolled her eyes at him. “You had plans? Oh, am I in the way of them? That’s a shame.” She didn’t feel bad at all actually. She would ruin his plans over and over if it was in her favor and he knew that. “I don’t know what I want,” she snapped, before crossing her arms over her chest. She really didn’t know anymore. She was restless, she wanted bloodshed, and she was starting to wonder if going to him was the right move. She looked up at him again and sighed, trying to ease herself out of her own hunger. “I…I need…something to do.” It was embarrassing to admit she was bored. Normally she was the one who was always busy and the fact that she was just….wasting away, felt shameful. “I’m hungry and Otis is being radio silent even to me..”

Lukas huffed and mumbled under his breath, “I was just going to go out for a while. Don’t need your permission.” He hoped she didn’t understand what he’d said but also knew if she had he would just have to deal with the consequences. When she snapped at him his demeanor softened slightly and he sighed as he wrapped his arm tighter around her shoulders. “You...want to do something...with me?” He rose an eyebrow. Lukas wouldn’t complain about that. He would ditch his plans to spend time with her. “Alright, fine. What would you like to do?” He sighed. “I haven’t heard from him in days. So, I don’t really know what to do about that. I’m growing pretty bored myself.”

“I was out flying, Not bothering anyone.” She could tell he was lying but didn’t want to get into a fight about that. “That can’t be true,” her dad had reassured her animal blood and human blood were nearly identical throughout her life. Her not having the agency to drain blood herself was a privilege of growing up in the hotel. Every blood pack had been prepared for her every day and she’d been fine. “Regardless, the less we traumatize and leave people with bite marks on their necks, the less people suspect vampires are running around looking for victims everywhere.”

Lukas rolled his eyes dramatically. “No, you were following me. Just admit it.” Not that he’d heard her at first but he had been so focused on his prey that she surprised him. “Well, princess, it is true. You have the luxury of not having to deal with this kind of shit.” He crossed his arms and leaned against the outer brick wall of the building they were next to. “And why should I care about that?” he asked, brow raised. “It’s not like I’m sucking every person I come across dry.”

It had been no word from Otis for the last few days and Selene was restless. She was hungry and pissed off and she had been very much taking that out on the world. Sure she could go feed whenever she wanted, but she preferred to do it on the job, which she would never actually admit out loud at all and would eat whoever had shit to say just to prove a point. She was stubborn at her core and sometimes that was her own demise. Lukas hadn’t even been doing anything; he was just chilling in their living room, minding his own business, and Selene had decided to sulk out of her room to annoy him because she was annoyed too. She sat next to him, snuggled up close so she didn’t appear threatening, and then she actually spoke. “What the fuck are you doing?” she asked, rolling her eyes. “And where’s Bram? I’m in the mood for something sweet and you…you don’t taste as sweet.”

Lukas was trying to enjoy the radio silence from Otis the past few days, but as time went on he grew bored and a little restless. He’d spent a lot of time by himself but made an appearance in the living room for a while to play a few rounds of his game. He’d just set the controller down and was going to go back into his room when Selene appeared. “I was going to my room. And then maybe somewhere else. I don’t really know yet.” He shrugged. “Don’t know. I’m not his keeper.” Lukas scowled at her. “Yeah, whatever. I don’t really care.” He wanted to get up but knew he was stuck as she had snuggled up to him. He almost resisted the urge to put his arm around her but in the end loosely let it hang around her shoulders. “What do you want from me, Selene?”

Taking flight in bat form was a way for Mavis to escape the tasks and stress of all responsibilities. This was the one thing that helped center herself and could truly relax her. What wasn’t relaxing her was spotting Lukas out late at night, seemingly following another down a dark alley. She knew it was bad to assume what he’d do but she grew restless waiting for him to take action. She knew Lukas was the type to take human blood and that enraged her to no end. The thought it happening in any moment caused Mavis to interfere before anything terrible would happen under her watch. “Lukas!” The shout alone scared off the stranger out into the well-lit street. As she flew her way down to the ground, her wings substituted for arms, along with the rest of her body returning to its human form. “What are you doing out this late? Y’know what? I don’t even want to ask, I feel like I already know the answer.” She made sure to keep her voice hushed but still looked around to make sure no one was around. “You can’t go around looking to suck the blood out of everyone in Animania. Why don’t you just use the blood packs I send you?”

Lukas was prowling that night. He was so hungry. Well, thirsty would be better put. Blood bags did the job, sure, but they didn’t satisfy him the way fresh blood did. And count animals out. He would feed on them but their blood tasted bitter to him. He spotted someone stumbling out of a club late and he knew it was the perfect target. Nothing like getting a nice buzz from what he was drinking. It’s not like he would leave them for dead. He just wanted to take what he needed and dip. His plans were foiled though when he heard an all too familiar voice call his name. Cursing under his breath he turned to face her. “What are you doing out this late?” he retorted. Why did she need to know his every move? “You can’t prove that’s what I was doing,” he said with a shrug. “And your blood bags suck. They don’t hit the same.”

open starter location: event bonfire

This was probably bad to admit, but Emily was a little high on her own bloodlust. The bonfire was packed with all kinds of people and her teeth ached just thinking about it. She tried to prepare herself, tried to fill herself up on what she could before she got dressed to go to it, but it was a harder night than most. She knew she just needed a drink or five but she worried about getting too drunk and her fangs relaxing and scaring people away. To always feel like such a burden, such a wretched creature…it was hard. She wanted to have fun with the community and she wanted to spread her wings and meet more people, but she didn’t know if she could do it. She just…didn’t know.

But she played it off well. She danced and swayed and let herself get lost in the music. When she needed a breather she further out to the beach. Like she was right now…taking a deep breath and letting the salt air burn her lungs with each inhale. The sky was shining with a million different stars in the sky and all she could do was smile. The breeze was a slap in the face in the best of ways. As she stared up at the sky she sensed someone approaching and she turned her head, probably a little too quickly. “Can I help you?” she asked lightly. She knew she probably looked a little weird, but she had accepted that a long time ago. “It’s a perfect night for an event like this.”

Lukas went to the event purely to cause chaos. He knew Selene and Bram were probably around somewhere but he got lost in the crowd. With so many bodies with beating hearts and pumping blood around things were growing difficult. Lukas had a bloodlust and he didn’t want to quite get out of control. Not yet. He knew if he caused a scene Selene would be furious so he opted to walk down towards the water. For once it wasn’t his attention to startle the person he was walking near. When the other whipped her head a little fast Lukas felt on edge. 

“Help me?” he inquired. “No, I don’t think so.” The sounds of beating hearts was duller now that he was away from the crowd. Yet he couldn’t hear anything coming from the woman nearby. That’s strange, he thought to himself. “I suppose it is.” He took a few steps closer until the water was just inches from his feet. “If it’s so perfect why come over here when the party’s clearly up there?”

Selene gave into the kiss for a moment, letting his teeth get tangled in her lip ring and enjoying the slight pain that came with it. But she couldn’t place a proper bet if she couldn’t move her mouth and she shoves at his chest enough to catch him off guard so he let go of her lip. “How about we bet on Bram. You win, Bram lives another day. You lose…well, you know the latter.”

Lukas had almost gotten lost in their kiss for a moment. That was until she pushed him away. It didn’t come as a surprise when she shoved his chest and he backed away only slightly. He knew she would always have the upper hand and he didn’t mind the chase that came along with it. It was fun, in a strange way. “I think that’s an excellent idea,” he said with a smirk. “I guess this means I can’t lose.”

Selene snorted. “Since when did you give a shit about what’s rude and what isn’t?” It was an expected response and it sure did ease her curiosity about his vocabulary. The harshness of her head being lifted did have a small moan escape her lips, but the club was loud enough for it to be missed. “I bet you can’t,” she said, raising an eyebrow. “You want me to pay attention, give me a reason to pay attention.”

“Never said I did. It’s just plain disrespectful though.” Lukas couldn’t hear the small moan that escaped her lips, but he did see her lips part enough to have an idea that he’d gained a reaction from her. “What do you want to bet on?” he asked as he leaned closer to her. Without responding he pressed his lips to hers and bit down on her lower lip, tugging on it so he knew it would hurt a little.

Once the sun faded, Zero knew that’s when most of his day really started. Doing whatever jobs were asked of him or being around the trio of choas in his life. But nothing fully started till he popped a few to get his head turning in the right directions. Standing beside Lukas he just sighed, starting to feel the comforting alertness with a side of numbing start to take over his body. Letting out a sigh he looked around, hands shoved deep in his pockets. “I don’t know this just seems stupid. You couldn’t have found a better way to go about this?”  || @lockedinthenight​

Lukas had never been a fan of Zero. They didn’t understand the hype about the boy nor did he really care for his presence. Still, he let the guy hang around simply because he knew Selene would have his head if he didn’t. “Don’t be such a baby,” Lukas told him as he climbed the metal gate to hop over the other side. “Absolutely not. We are not to be seen. If we really want to pull this off on your brother we have to sneak in through the back.” He wasn’t sure how he’d convinced the guy to fuck with his brother with Lukas, but there they were. “I told you, once I’m in all you have to do is distract him. I set the trap and then I’ll give you the signal and we book it out of here.”

“Stupid and fun are synonymous with you,” she said with a little laugh. Selene honestly didn’t even know if Lukas knew what synonymous meant. “Sometimes strangers are exciting,” she stated, leaning forward to place a short kiss on his cheek. “Sometimes I want something new. You aren’t really able to provide me with that, since your fun normally insinuates the same thing.” She wasn’t lying to him fully. She did like the fun and unpredictable nature of strangers at times. But normally revving Lukas up caused a different reaction.

“Well, that’s just rude to say!” they told Selene, not completely sure what she meant but he was hoping he sounded like he did. “Sure, if you’re into that kind of shit. You know, the boring kind.” He shrugged as if it were obvious. Then she kissed his cheek and he was putty in her hand. “You want something new?” he asked, grabbing her chin rather harshly to tilt her head up to look at him. “I can show you something new.”
