Looking down at her his head tilted down more into her hand making it seem like he liked the comfort she was giving him. He didn’t say anything because anything he was going to say would be a clear give away to what state he was in although he was already obvious and keeping it up wouldn’t last for long. Matter of fact he wanted people not to bother him and maybe he had to give them a reason not to. “I don’t need a bath Lily.” He said stopping in his tracks just before getting to the bathroom. “I’m not grumpy I don’t even care that I killed her. I don’t care what Grayson does, I’m not beating myself up over anything. So if you want to do something for me find me someone to drink from or well, I can do that myself considering people come up to me so easily.”

Lily brushed past him, shaking in her head in disgust because she couldn’t believe the way he was talking. Upset or not. This wasn’t like him. “Jesus christ, Zac. What the fuck is your deal?” She snapped. “I’m trying to help. I’m trying to understand. You lied to me, left for a week without telling me why and then I hear you killed your best friend’s girlfriend and again...don’t want to explain. I tell you Logan had a fucking miscarriage and you want me to send flowers ‘on your behalf’ while you shrug your shoulders like you’re fucking Kanye... and now you want me to bring you someone to feed from? Who the fuck switched your birth certificate because you sound more like your crazed loon of an uncle right now.” She scoffed when it suddenly hit her. “No.... no... no you fucking didn’t.... you- what the.... fuck!”

Turning to face her fully he crossed his arms over his chest trying to think of who she could mean and when it clicked there was a hint of sympathy but it was quickly washed away. “You said it yourself she wasn’t even sure she wanted it.” He shrugged dropped his arms, his eyes following every step she took. “What else is there to tell?” He half smiled in a way that made it seem like her suggestion was stupid. “I killed your girlfriend, oops?” He chuckled weakly shaking his head. It wasn’t fully a lie, he did turn out to be the one who killed her, but it had been the last thing he wanted. “He’s not my responsibility, so let him go off the rails.”

She almost didn’t recognize the person in front of her. Zac would never talk like that. Ever. Then again, he was going through a pretty big deal and perhaps it was time he finally lashed out. Though she wanted to slap him silly, for better or for worse meant something. Or, was going to mean something. Stepping away from the wall, she cupped his cheeks into her palms, giving him a sad smile. “You don’t mean that.” She whispered. “I’m sorry... I don’t know what happened other than... you killed her but I know you and I know it was an accident... you can’t beat yourself up over it. He needs you, and you need him because you two are best friends.” She tried to assure him, trying to bring his face closer so she could kiss her forehead. “Would a nice hot bath make my grumpy man feel a little better?” She began to walk along with him, leading him towards the bathroom. “With bubbles...and champagne?”

“Honestly... come to think of it, I haven’t even seen Nathan in a while... since you left actually. I mean I saw him once... yeah, he came into SDS for what I assumed was a pick-up...” She bit her lip at the mention of Zac. “N-no. He eft to. He was gone for a week. I mean not gone- like that... just I don’t know. He’s acting... weird.”

The moment she said anything about talking to his mom his mouth popped into an ‘o’ shape, looking over at her only to chuckle when he saw her glaring. “I needed the time?” He furrowed his brows shrugging it off only to roll his eyes non discreetly as she mentioned having other news. “If someone died or something i’m really not interested you can just send a bouquet of flowers on my behalf.”

“I-” She was going to say something else but his next words were so out of character. She knew something was up but she couldn’t figure it out just yet. “Zac... if someone died... you’re not interested?” She leaned her back against the wall, pinning her arms behind her as to remain calm. “Even if that someone...was an innocent baby.... you know- possibly the baby of my best friend?” She looked away, not wanting him to notice the single tear that fell from her cheek. “And another thing.” She wiped it away, walking closer to him. “Grayson isn’t a happy camper. I can’t blame him but he’s like a half a second away from going off the rails again so if you don’t want to tell me what happened...maybe you should tell him.”

Lily knew nothing about their relationship and what she meant to him. “Might I remind you that it was your fucking fiance who decided to take her life. End it before she was ready. Killed her. Murdered her in cold blood.”

“Okay...okay.” She brought her hands up. “Yes. I know the details, Grayson...but you also know Zac. He wouldn’t just- kill her for no reason... he wouldn’t do that to you when he himself knew what she meant to you... have you even tried talking to him?”

Lily chuckled again, nodding. “I guess I can’t say anything considering your sister works here. You may want to double check with her as she is a manager.” Lily looked around, thinking of a job for her. “I need a hostess.” She said quickly, like she did have an idea. “Yeah, i’ve been thinking of making this place just a little classier. I want more VIP tables rather than just rooms... so people can enjoy the scene. You’re in charge of reservations, the down payment of the tables, as well as seating them at their tables and... you know making sure they have their drinks and...whatever.” She nodded at herself, liking the idea already. “God, i’m brilliant.”

“Oh, well, surprise.” He mumbled noticing the clear break in her voice. He let her speak and while most of the time he just wanted to tell her how much he didn’t care that she was worrying he kept himself composed. It would come out sooner or later but for his own peace of mind he hoped for the later. “I told you my mom needed me for something and now I’m back.” He said while motioning to himself. “But yeah the week did me good.”

“That’s the thing, Zac. I spoke to your mom. I spoke to your siblings. I spoke to your dad... you, Zachary- lied to me.” She glared at him before sighing again. “You know what? It’s- whatever. After what happened, you needed time for yourself and that’s what i’ll choose to believe.” She forced a smile that basically read, I know you know better than to cheat on me. “I’m glad.” Her voice was calm and soft. “So... oh- there’s um... other news.” She added sadly.

So could Riley- and how the hell are YOU so good with a gun... there’s way to many people in here for you to have taken out alone...in fact... way too many people for you to have taken out by yourself...” the only person I know who can do that is Riley... She thought to herself.
