The opening of RE4 is some of Leon Kennedy's best work imo. He starts off by heavily implying he was kidnapped and coerced into being a government dog. He then immediately clarifies that's what happened, in case you missed the ominous quotations marks in the previous line. He goes "Yeah the dehumanization and the physical abuse has been rough, but at least it helps me dissociate from the crippling PTSD". Then we smashcut to him in an uber, failing at smalltalk.

This is Blanche. She isn't the oldest monument in the cemetery, but she's certainly up there.

The cemetery recently hired out a mowing company to do the old sections (pre 1950) and they're doing an okay job, but they keep hitting monuments >:[

Including, notably, Blanche's footstone.

Footstones get broken fairly often simply because they're so small and low to the ground. If you don't know to look for them, they're easy to hit.

To remedy this a little, I actually dug up the socket base for the footstone and raised it by about an inch and a half. This will make it more visible and prevent biological growth from further decaying the cement. Since I didn't have any dirt around, I used moss scraped off of nearby grave curbs to pack around the base and keep it from moving or sinking. This isn't foolproof, but it'll do for now. I also cleaned the base and footstone.

My biggest issue is still this black stuff. It's hard to tell if it's mold, mineral staining, acid rain debris, or all three. I tried a biocide solution on it last year and it didn't come out. I'm thinking a poultice is in order, but I'm sooo nervous about using hydrogen peroxide on raw stone, especially since it's historic grade marble. I tried a little patch today so we'll see how it goes.

Once it stops raining constantly, I'll be able to epoxy the pieces back together and she'll be looking decent for the rest of the season.
