KAIZERS ORCHESTRA 's Siste Dans, Stavanger, DNB Arena, 14th of September 2013

A 12 years KAIZERS ORCHESTRA era came to an end last Saturday with the final concert at the DNB Arena in Stavanger. For all who couldn’t be there, the concert was streamed online and shown in several theatres throughout Norway.

Thank you Kaizers for an exciting time, thousands of damaged oil barrels, best live shows ever and a everlasting circus atmosphere!!

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE @Kulturkirche Cologne/Germany - 09/4/13

Unusual and unique venues seem to entice Queens of the Stone Age. Some may recall back in 2007 when QOTSA played the ‘most underground gig ever’ in an East German salt-mine 700m under the earth’s crust. It’s 2013. Times have changed. The Sky’s now the limit – so where would be the most appropriate concert location for a band now perhaps on its zenith? - A small church in West Germany, exactly.

In a dimly lit neo-gothic church in Cologne, the roughly 400 lucky punters who won tickets to the exclusive semi-acoustic gig were gathered, sipping red wine (or Jesus’ blood as Mr. Homme would say) and turning pages of the special songbook - all highly anticipating a truly unforgettable evening.

And so it was – the 65 minute set was mainly devoted to the QOTSAs most recent record “…Like Clockwork”; but hits like “Make it wit Chu” (see video here http://www.einslive.de/medien/html/1live/2013/09/04/1live-radiokonzert-queens-of-the-stone-age-make-it-with-chu.xml) and “Go with the Flow” were sure to make the archangel’s statue blush while pushing every last critic out of his church pew. 

Being the musical perfectionists that rumours suggest, Josh and the band rehearsed for 3 hours before the show, ensuring the songs rang perfectly between the old church walls, despite the minimal amount of equipment (and cushioned drums). In comparison to the highly professional and bombastic shows of this tour so far, the evening dealt an intimate insight into the band’s versatility, creativity and talent.
