“Not a fan of Anjou’s new duchess?” Loic posed, wondering if someone lacked the patience for formalities at an event that was free to those invited. Sure, he cared little for royalty and titles, but listening to his new head of house speak briefly on the evening seemed a small price for many for the food, drink, and music being offered up at such a grand event. “Or not a fan of balls in general? In which, I must ask why you’ve attended in the first place.”

“You and I both know they’ll find something to talk about, whether or not you offer it up to them,” Loic countered with a smirk as he paused only to flag down a bartender and order before turning back to Kat. “Apologies though-- I suppose it’s easy to hide behind a mask tonight and forget good manners. “Then you wouldn’t be very smart,” Aramis quipped back. “The big spenders tend to only have the money that they’re spending. Once they lose it - that’s it, that’s all they have. Gambling becomes an addiction if you aren’t too careful. Instead, you should go after the ones that win or fold earlier. People who have money don’t like to lose much of it.”

“That logic entirely depends on the game being played- and doesn’t necessarily dismiss my own, with all due respect. Not that it’s deserved if you’re doubting my own intelligence, of course... Perhaps your advice is true of the game is black jack for instance— but not necessarily for something like poker,” Loic retorted only pausing to take a sip of his drink. “Also I’d be observing the individual themselves— not just their money. You can tell a lot by how someone dresses and how they carry themselves. If you simply want to observe who the smart gamblers are— sure. It’s people who don’t drink while they gamble and know when to fold. But even that doesn’t say they have money... now a nice Armani suit? A Rolex? Loubotons? Wardrobe says quite a bit as well, as does their body language, speech— and if I’m lucky, one or two details as to their line of work or personal life, once we get talking... Now of course, they could lie— but so long as they can afford the bill at Castlebrac, I honestly don’t care.”

Loic smirked, barely holding back a chuckle from amusement at the Dom’s words. “Be that as it may, I think I’d gain much more money in the long run by simply observing card tables. Sir. Far easier to tell who the big spenders are-- and who might be worth turning into my next regular at work. I’d much rather find someone with deep pockets and an interest in my good face, than find out of I’m lucky or not, and potentially lose quite a lot.”

The truth was that people were fallible, easy to be tricked with a simple sleight-of-hand and a few drinks. You seem the type.”

“Couldn’t agree more about slots,” Loic responded with an amused smile. “Although I’m surprised you take me for someone who enjoys a round of cards. I’m certainly no cardsharp-- though I’m curious what makes you say that.”

Loic is afraid of never feeling fulfilled in life. He has grown use to bad auditions as much as they pain him, and hates the feeling of rejection-- but remains hopeful his future will be in acting, and that will make him feel like his life is fulfilling. Truthfully there are likely a handful of things that could make him feel fulfilled-- such as a claim. Loic has never pursued anyone seriously, however, so he doesn’t believe this for the time being.

🔋 - What makes them feel better after a long day?

Nothing sounds better to Loic than a steaming hot bath after a long day.

Remi wasn’t trying to be disrespectful but it just seemed so funny the way he walked over with all the confidence in the world, and quickly got shot down. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but I’m still trying to get my bearings in this new city and I really don’t know anyone here. So I usually sit and observe people.” She wasn’t lying, she didn’t know many people here, and she figured someone as confident a this guy, he could possibly be someone to introduce her to a lot of people here. 

She hoped she didn’t offend him too much, so she stuck out her hand, “I’m Remi…” She looked at him in the eyes and he seemed familiar, “I think I’ve seen you around the hotel before. I am a housekeeper there, so I usually blend in well.” She happily admitted.

Loic turned more fully to face the young masked woman. “Sitting and observing people isn’t an excuse for laughing and mocking someone,” he responded back, glancing at her hand and failing to return the shake. Instead, he flagged down the bartender as he sourly added, “Impressive you ca recognize someone in spite of a mask. I’m Loic-- and yes-- I work there as well.”

Loic smirked, eyes raking briefly over the Domme as he flagged down a bartender still. “A woman of your stature more than deserves it, your grace,” he responded, the voice confirming a suspicion it was the Duchess of Nantes. He’d seen her face on television during all of the chaos around the start of the year, and he’d seen clips replayed again with the sudden drama regarding his own head of house and the lure of the thrown. For all he knew he was speaking to someone who was about to become much more important-- not that he cared much about royalty outside of what it could do for him. “Hope you don’t mind if I still grab a drink then? You sure you don’t want anything?”

Loic lives alone in a one bedroom flat that he keeps fairly clean all the time. It’s rather impersonal with few decorations-- with the exceptions of his large film collection on dvds as well as his rather large wardrobe. He also has a rather embarrassingly large collection of hygiene and styling products he keeps in his bathroom, as he is quite vain and cares dearly for his appearance.

He regularly will pull long nights at work, so he usually sleeps in. Days he attends auditions for productions he finds himself awake extremely early however. This leads to little sleep later that night as he balances his attempt at an acting career with work at the brothel.

Jadon was late, much to Javan’s displeasure. Neither of the Floch brothers had bothered to try to get dates to the masquerade and Jadon was just glad to be getting out for some fun. Never one to expect people to want to dance with him he always brought a book with him. The tardiness was due to the initial chosen paperback not fitting into the interior coat of his suit- not that he was about to tell Javon that. Equally unsurprising, was his older brothers disappearance when they arrived. Jadon had skirted around the dance floor, making his way to the bar, when he bumped into someone and his copy of The End We Start From fell at their feet. “Well… this is embarrassing.”

Loic paused for a moment, slightly bewildered when he felt himself bumped into by the masked stranger, only to glance at his feet and spot a book. “The hell,” he mumbled before he realized the book belonged to the same man who’d bumped into him. Any annoyance was immediately replaced with a mixture of confusion and shock, wondering who in their right mind brought a book to a ball. “Are you reading at a ball?” He asked in disbelief, barely holding back a slightly buzzed laugh.

Remi was at the bar, where she had been for most of the night, she was still a bit out of her element here at the ball, because it was not her scene. She wanted to mingle with as many people as she could, but she was still a bit nervous to start conversations. She found her ears assaulted with the with the worst pickup like she had ever heard and she couldn’t help but laugh. Especially when the dominant refused the offer and walked away. She could no longer even hide the fact that she was laughing at the guy now. “Does that usually work?” She said in between laughter.

Loic gave a half hearted glance towards the unknown voice just down the bar as his lips pulled into an irritated, thin line. He hasn’t minded being dismissed— the Dominant was taken apparently-- mentioned when he was shut down rather forwardly. Someone eavesdropping and then mocking him, however, was less than pleasing. The line itself was meant to be slightly playful and cheesy, intentionally delivered calmly and confidently, leading Loic to defensively respond, “Actually yes. I was hoping to get a laugh or at least a smile, and a line like that is excellent conversation starter. It shows I’m not afraid to be the one to approach nor to offer a well deserved compliment. I wouldn’t have said it if I thought it would fail-- It’s simply a bit harder to tell who’s here alone versus spoken for, so naturally there’s a risk it flops regardless of what I say.” He nodded over to a small group of people looking in their direction off to the side as he added, “It wasn’t just a line either.”

It was a small comfort to know that Loic seemed as surprised by her appearance as she was his. It wasn’t a bad surprise on her part, and she hoped it wasn’t on his either. They clearly had enough of the same interests that the hotel had matched them up so she didn’t think either of them would leave dissatisfied. “I’d love to tease you about having a big head, but you’re right. I have impeccable taste and you seem to be the proof of that.” Making herself comfortable, she left her purse and phone on a table and crossed over to the bed where Loic sat. She unabashedly let her eyes roam his figure, knowing that before the evening was through she would get to touch him as much as she wanted. Provided he didn’t request to not have this encounter since they knew each other.

Loic’s smirk widened at Sophia’s comment, shoulders relaxing as he noted the Domme’s gaze. He shamelessly let his own eyes wander over the Domme’s as he asked, “So what do I have the pleasure of doing for you tonight, Miss?”
