Faglung Article Summary

what is a Faglung?

The faglung is a musical instrument native to the Blaan Tribe in South Cotabato. However, there is more to this instrument than the music that it produces. As stated in the article, it is also used as a tool to socialize among the tribe. For example, giving it away is an expression of gratitude or appreciation. What surprised me most is that the same musical instrument can also be used as a tool for reconciliation among opponents - which is why the article mentions that members of the Blaan Tribe prefer to leave in peaceful coexistence as reconciliation process (involving the gifting of a Faglung) can be tedious and expensive.

What an interesting read.

Thoughts on My Roommate is a Gumiho.

Here are 5 reasons why I am so hooked with this ongoing k-drama: 

(1) The Main lead is CUTE af. I mean is there anything more to say? It’s a yes for me. 

(2) The Female lead is relatable. She’s quirky, funny and cute. 

(3) The plot is not as boring as it seems. Unlike most romantic comedies that I have seen, the plot of this korean drama has some substance in it- it has a little bit of mystery. Now that I am on Episide 5 of the series it is revealed that a mysterious being)(I am guessing a third gumiho) is looming the streets of seoul - which is something that the male lead is looking out for. As to what this mysterious creature is, we have yet to find out. Furthermore, there is some mystery in what happens to the bead inside the female lead’s tummy over time and what happens if the Gumiho male lead will soon remove it.- See there’s more to the plot than a typical romantic comedy!  and I must say the comedy breaks in the series is pretty damn hilarious! you will truly find yourself laughing at the quirkiness of the female lead! It’s truly a fun series, and there is never a boring scene!

(4) The OST is to die for. You know that Original Sound Track that hits the spot in your heart? Recall the soundtrack for Scarlet Heart Ryo, Descendants of the Sun, Crash Landing on you, Hotel del Luna, or Start-up. These dramas have outstanding sound tracks that just make the scenes so much more heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time! I dare add up this series of My Roommate is a Gumiho with the list! The OST by Jeong Se Won entitled “Door” is AMAZING it hits the right spot I tell you. 

(5) The friendship of the female lead and the supporting characters, and the friendship of the male lead with the female gumiho (which is played by Injae from startup); the friendship story in this series is heartwarming enough to make you wish you had friends too.. I miss my friend you guys, it’s been so long since we all hang out without masks (Damn you corona virus)
