Looking for HYDRA-Bandersnatch

Summary: You and Loki or Bucky are being sent on a mission by Fury. It’s simple: Find HYDRA’s camp, defeat them. Try not to make unnecessary mistakes as it will result in characters making bad decisions and thus lead to a Game Over and you have to start from the beginning again.

You told Bucky that leaving the country was probably a bad idea. He nodded understandingly and waited for you to choose where to next.

Bucky couldn’t deny that he was glad you changed your mind as leaving the country would only cause more trouble. Especially since he was still a wanted ‘criminal’ in some countries.

He suggests to continue elsewhere.

Damn, a mistake, so close before you would have finished the mission. Well, you decide to open the cell doors.

The doors helt back the Hydra’s new weapons, much stronger than Bucky. With them running free and ready to kill any enemy they spot, you two were fucked. You’re outnumbered and defeated.

Game Over.

Bucky Barnes will be your sidekick for this mission!

You don’t know each other yet. Sure you’ve read a lot of things about him in one of Fury’s files you “accidentally found” while he was gone but you couldn’t trust those, right?

What’s the first thing you do?

Politely introduce yourself. Skip the manners, we gotta go. Offer him plums. Ask if you can see his metal arm.

You offered him plums as you heard Steve say they were one of Bucky’s favourites. You wanted to be nice but didn’t think it all through.

Bucky realized that you didn’t even have plums on you. You were probably just really nervous and didn’t know what to say which let him smile. Nevertheless, Bucky found the offer really nice.

You ask him about his arm. You’ve heard a lot about him being able to kill everything and everyone with just three of his one hand. You were curioes about how strong he atually was.

But he tells you that he doesn’t want people to see his metal arm. The destruction it caused under his brainwashed brain were still torturing him. He just wants to forget it all.

You understand his issue and apologize. He doesn’t think it’s worth apologizing since you didn’t know how much it troubled him but he accepted the apology anyway.

Quite rude to skip introducing yourself after Bucky told you who he was. He’s been struggling with his confidence some time now and finds it really troublesome that you were that cold hearted.

But he’s not one who tell’s. He just looks at you without saying anything. Hoping that over the time you’d eventually open up to him more and show him the soft side he was sure you had.

You politely introduce yourself which makes Bucky really happy. He’s not used to people treating him that kind after all the things he’s done in the past.

He’s glad that you decided to not judge him even though he was sure you probably knew what he’s done. To him, you were the first light at the end of a very long dark tunnel, he’s been running through for years. You gave him new hope, well done!

You decide to go and ask Steve for help. He’s got contacts all around the city that can surely tell you something you didn’t know yet. Bucky knew where Steve lived since he’d been to his place a couple of times when he didn’t know where to go.

When the two of you reached his apartment, you knocked on his door. There was no response. His neighbour who’d just finished washing her clothes told you that she hadn’t seen him all day. Steve told her something about another mission Fury had sent him to.

Bucky told you that it was a good guess but you should continue your search elsewhere.

Where do you wanna go?

Somewhere out of the country? Doesn’t seem right to Bucky. He’s sure he’s seen Hydra agents wandering the streets nearby. They left their muddy footprints all over the city. He’d recognized the prints because when he was still in Hydra’s hands, he used to have the exact same. Combat boots.

But he says he’ll follow you anyway since he know’s he doesn’t have a saying in this. (Fury’s orders) Sure, Fury wasn’t a big threat to him but he followed his orders for Steve. Because otherwise his mother’s instinct would kick in and he’d be in a lot more trouble than before. And he just couldn’t have that.

What continent do you choose?

Africa Antarctica Asia Europe Stay in North America (not the US) South America Oceania/Australia Neither. Tell him you’d changed your mind.

Whoop! A big mistake was made here. You went to every country on this continent but couldn’t find a Hydra base.

You and Bucky were on the way back when armed men arrested the two of you at the airport. Apparently the police has been informed that both you and Bucky were wanted for several crimes around the globe, including a bombing in Vienna and murder in Romania. They’ve taken you the possibility to call someone as in their eyes, you were terrorists and didn’t deserve a second chance.

You’re under arrest.

Game Over.

WHOA!! It’s way too cold for the two of you to survive here with what you’re wearing. You had brought some warmer clothes but due to the freezing temperatures the spaceship wouldn’t get going again.

The entire system was shut down and the door wouldn’t open again. You were locked out, unable to call for help in these cold conditions.

Game Over.

You chose the woods! Bucky seems to be very pleased with your decision. In fact, he seems so pleased with it that he asked if it would be alright if he accompanied you in future missions as well. (of course, only if Fury allowed it, which he probably wouldn’t but Bucky seemed to be so okay with you at the moment that you just told him it would be a pleasure. Not the time for him to get even sadder right now.)

You’re getting into your car and drive to the woods 1 hour from the city. It’s a deep forest but you’ve got no problem with knowing where you were. You’re a pro after all! At the very beginning of the woods you’re looking for any signs of a Hydra base or agents.

Where do you start?

The ground. The mill you saw on your way here near the forest. Ask the people picnicking in the forest. Neither, go back to SHIELD and tell them you found nothing.

You look at the ground beneath you. The muddy path leading into the forest showed footprints but nothing else. No tires nothing. Just a few footprints. Bucky tells you to ignore them since they’re surely not from Hydra agents. These boots were not the combat ones Hydra used. And he was pretty sure that there were smaller ones as well, from children.

You decide to trust him and not follow the footprints since he seemed to be pretty sure about what he said. He’s worked for Hydra for years, he must know something.

As you were about to leave the path you heard a soft Quiek!.

Will you follow the soft sound?

Yes. No.

You followed the continuing quieking and saw a small hedghog laying on it’s back trying to get up. You and Bucky found him behind an old tree, he’d probably tried to climb. For whatever reason.

You look at Bucky looking for any sort of distress or any rushing behaviour. When you saw none you were pretty sure he wanted to help the small guy.

Will you?

Yes. No.

Eh, you and Bucky decided to help the small hedghog on his feet again and put him on a small stump.

You could see how it made Bucky happy. Sure, you had only helped a small animal in need but wasn’t it so much more?

Where do you continue looking for signs?

The mill. Ask the people picnicking in the forest. Neither, go back to SHIELD and tell them you found nothing.

You refuse to help the hedghog which makes Bucky really sad. He’d hoped that after what he’s seen of you you’d help this tiny creature as well. But everyone could be in the wrong, right?

Even if you didn’t want to help this little fella, Bucky did and put him on his feet again before walking away from you without saying a word. Not too far so you could still follow him but far enough to make clear what he thought about it.
