Jax recognized Lola’s voice from across the street, even with the howling wind. Sucking in a breath, he darted over, interrupting before the soldier had an opportunity to make his girlfriend even ore frantic. “I’ll take care of this,” he dismissed the young soldier, who he could’ve sworn he heard swearing under their breath as they walked away. Jax placed his glove covered hands on Lola’s shoulders, his cheeks bright red from the wind stinging them. “You can’t go to the school, okay? The kids are fine, the entire school is being evacuated.”
Lola looked up when she saw Jax approaching, letting him dismiss the soldier before she threw her arms around him. “I just want to make sure they’re okay!” She insisted, although when she said it to him, it sounded kind of silly. “I can’t let anything happen to them, Jax, not even something weather-related.”
