Can someone please tell me why every Percy Shelley portrait makes him look so whimsical. Because why on earth does it look like he’s glowing in his portrait. I also only just noticed he has blue eyes
Also I’m very curious if he actually styled his hair like that, because the regency era preferred curly hair, so the hairstyle would sorta line up
Since all the Percy fans are slowly finding my account, I’d like to publicly say that people hate Shelley for the wrong reasons. Especially on tumblr, seriously, some of you guys are pointing at the wrong thing.
And so some of you can hate the write thing, I made a list: he was a gradual abolitionist because he viewed Africans as too savage (which is a belief Mary also had and is incorporated into Frankenstein), left his wife, supported Byron way more than he honestly should’ve, the whole situation with Claire Claremont, being a bit of an absent dad and finally being a bit of a self righteous twat (like most tumblr users).
Now here’s a list of the good aspects: was a feminist and a big fan of Wollstonecraft, supported Mary so much in publishing Frankenstein, never made fun of Byron’s disability because he’s just a chad like that, vegetarian, bisexual, polyamorous, believed Ireland should be independent, anti-colonialist, a photo-Marxist, critiques the riches treatment of the working class SEVERAL times and was an atheist who rejected the churches influence.
Now, as much as I would encourage people to like Percy (he was THE poet who made me like poetry), it is ultimately peoples decisions, but I will highlight one thing…
HATING HIM FOR HIM AND MARYS RELATIONSHIP IS STUPID.
First off, you don’t know EITHER of them, so I’m tired of people treating Shelley as if he’s your friends toxic bf, because people are parasocial af with Mary and don’t want to admit it. Second, they both lacked a proper sense of communication and that was due to them both having poor mental health for numerous reasons.
In conclusion, please hate Shelley for actually reasons instead of making up scenarios (like the whole “editing Mary’s Frankenstein was wrong” thing) and actually call him out on the bad things he did like being indirectly responsible for his wife’s death
Thank you for coming to my ted talk about my incredibly niche interest

Parts of it are very cringe but parts of it - well, still cringe, but worth sharing I think
Not only is Byron my middle name but I’d probs be him because I’d end up dying in a anticlimactic way and he super angry about it, also because I’m disabled and bi-
Prompt #3
Your OC is part of the legal team sent to evaluate the safety of Jurassic Park with your colleague Donald Gennaro.
Imagine this character is the assistant to Book!Gennaro, who acts as an assistant to Book!Muldoon so this character is now the assistant to the assistant. Fun!
Actually have an oc like this, except they’re in charge of advertising and seeing if Jurassic park is a viable product (they’re also an expert on reptiles, so he knows a ton on raptors and actually takes them seriously)
Muldoon's shorts get mentioned so often in the JP fandom, they might as well be a separate character...
“Mary will haunt GDT for using a Lord Byron quote. She hated him.”
Yeah, mate, she hated that man so much she repeatedly praised his writing in her letters and remained his friend for the rest of his life. She hated him so much, sweetie. Just like you do *pats head*
Fr I’m tired of people letting personal biases affect their opinion of the movie, but I’m sure Mary would’ve loved it, which is all I care about
I saw a post saying the thing with Byron was that he was a poet. And as much as that is correct, it disregards the parts of his upbringing that made him a poet.
Like the fact he grew up poor until he inherited his title later on, or the outright abuse from his mother. Now I won’t go into detail on the alleged sexual abuse of Byron, considering it was debated under the post. But even so; we have to consider more than a handful perspectives when covering Byron, especially those who study his texts and life.
And yes, that includes the ones you disagree with. I’m tired of people thinking Byron becoming a bad person was clear and cut, when it wasn’t. Most of it was down to his family and bad influences in life which led to later decisions. In no way does it justify it, but ignoring how his family made him arguably lose empathy for people like women should really be discussed.
Also can people stop comparing him to a devil, it’s just ableist and weird, especially since it’s the same ableist comments his enemies used because he was advocating for the POOR.

Tw for mentions of sensitive topics like incest (obvi)
I don’t usually talk about what I cover in English literature but I do want to rant a bit about Lord Byron a bit, someone most of you have at least heard of in some way. I specifically want to cover the relationship with his half sister.
First off, if you joke about it; it’s disrespectful no matter what way you spin it. Even if I find incest wrong on every single level, making fun of it just disrespects all people involved, both victim and perpetrators.
Second, Augusta was a consenting individual. I don’t know where this came from, but a lot of people like to act as if Augusta was younger and groomed when it’s more likely to be the other way around. Augusta was 5 years older and started writing to him when he was in a mentally bad place. He was arguing with his mother a lot and Augusta comforted him through that.
Third, there is no proof of this rumour. It is up to YOU to make the conclusion depending on how you view their bond through what little info we have. This was said by Caroline Lamb, who was a LOVER of Byron and known for stalking him.
Lastly, this is not a surprise at all for not just Byron but his family in general. Part of the free love movement he was a part of did include incest, so it makes sense it wouldn’t be as large of an issue to him, considering he also married his cousin (despite the fact they didn’t love each other).
Overall, I think this was most likely just a rumour to cover his bisexuality (particularly with 15 year old boys, that’s a story for another day on why he did that) but I think people should make their own conclusions instead of basing it off what other people say.
I’ll probs talk about Lord Byron more here in the future but I just wanted to get the ticking time bomb out the way before someone eventually asked me what I thought of the situation.
And before anyone asks, I hate Caroline Lamb as much as Lord Byron, her stalking him was gross and she should’ve taken the hint.
How do I explain to the tiny people in my phone I’m a man now
IMO none of the French revolutionaries were ‘murdered’. They executed a FUCK TON of people beyond what was reasonable. They were not murdered, they just had done to them what they did to the monarchy and everybody who dared question them.
Dare I pitch in and say this applies to the Thermidorians too
oh he’s a leftist? does he give his friends and rejected love interests a monthly allowance out of his own pocket for no reason other than he loves them? 18th century poet percy shelley did btw. if you even care.

Queen Charlotte and George III in another universe
I know nobody is really in the fandom for a princess bride anymore but as someone under the non-binary spectrum, Prince Humperdinck’s cowardice (or self esteem issues in the book) is due to gender dysphoria.
“But Lolazoid, he likes hunting! He’s overtly masculine” first off, we don’t push sexist views of trans people around here. Second, hunting is a gender neutral sport and more related to Humperdinck’s desire for control, which plays into my main reason I see Humperdinck as a great allegory for a trans person in the closet/egg — his relationships with women in both the book and movie.
In the book, he outwardly hated his stepmother (which might be down to losing his mother) but also jealousy- she gets to live the role Humperdinck can’t. There’s also another suitor he has in the book which he gets along with until discovering she’s bald. This is another case of insecurity but also gender envy to an extreme— despite being bald, she found workarounds in a way Humperdinck can’t with themself. Lastly.. buttercup and do I need to say anything? Gender envy in big neon lights. Only cares about her looks and her making Humperdinck look better.
Overall: Humperdinck is a giant egg waiting to hatch, needs supportive friends and is weirdly good representation
(Although I do want to say I’m not a trans woman or trans fem so I can’t echo any similarities with experiences exclusive to that group of the trans umbrella, as I’m born a woman).
