Not lolita, but it was an interesting and informative read. Letās make it a priority to make the zine community more inclusive to Black, Indigenous, and other people of color!
āHere at last is one type of beauty I have dreamed of realized and walking before my eyes! What a pity that he is a man, or rather that I am not a women!ā . . From Mademoiselle de Maupin by Theophile Gautier 1834 . . Sneaking in at the tail end of todayās @dames_a_la_mode Georgian January: Masculinity Iāve got a complicated relationship with the concept of masculinity. When I was young I refused to wear skirts and dresses and did my best to act as a boy. I think it was truly my unease with my female form that drove it. There werenāt women I could see myself reflected in in any media I consumed, and I felt closer to male characters in all of my favorite books and games. Luckily over time I found powerful women in media and as friends who helped guide me into feeling comfortable with my femininity. Iām sure lots of queer shy weirdos in my generation went through the same thing. It makes me so happy to see more carried representation in media today! I do still adore menswear. I love the formality it grants and the formula of assembling the components of a look. Itās something I always feel comfortable wearing and adding elements of it to more feminine styles is my absolute favorite! #georgianjanuary #damesalamode #idodeclareshop #menswear #18thcenturyfashion #18thcentury #frockcoat #sword #mademoiselledemaupin #18thcenturyensemble #18thcentuysuit #americanduchess (at Columbus, Ohio) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7m2a4fH-V-/?igshid=1b1k5699em5qy
What a pleasure it is to see so many amazing punk lolita coordinates! We noticed every punk coord is different depending on the wearerās interests and unique personal style. The second issue is coming out very soon and we will be discussing a lot more about punk lolita, so stay tuned!
