Daphne had been living in London for more than half a year now, but she had yet to pay a visit to Piccadilly Circus. Which was something she was hoping to rectify today. The square was busy this time of day, of course. As she stopped in front of the Statue of Eros to take a selfie of herself by the landmark, someone brushed past her, nearly knocking her phone out of her hand. “Sorry” she said quickly. “I suppose I should be more careful in a place this crowded.”

the markets were a great place to train dogs. they were busy; with every different type of person, every different kind of outfit, distractions of every sort. today peyton had a liver and white springer spaniel by her side, his tail going a million miles an hour at practicing his heeling skills. he was one of the friendlier looking dogs she worked with, compared the rather intense malinois she often brought out. brown eyes flicked up when a voice caught her attention, landing on the woman who was asking for an opinion on the shawl draped around her shoulders – or so peyton assumed. “it looks good.” she replied with a smile, nodding her approval. though really, peyton was no fashion expert. 

“Just good?” Rhiannon asked, uncertainty in her voice. “I mean, good is good. But I was going for something a bit more dramatic.” It was then she noticed the dog the other woman had with her. “Oh, he’s so cute!” she said, her voice full of excitement now. “Do you mind if I pet him?” she asked. The dog certainly looked friendly, but Rhiannon didn’t want to overstep any boundaries by petting him without asking first.

“Oh no, I love company,” Rhys said enthusiastically. 

He scooted to the side, even though he had left so much room that two people could sit next to him. 

“Sorry you were too late. Those prosciutto baguettes are really something.” 

He looked at his own sandwich and considered offering it, but it wasn’t the prosciutto and she had already said no to his juice. 

“It is a pretty nice early evening,” he concluded. Searching for a subject to talk about, but instead just confused himself by wondering why she didn’t like juice. 

Sitting down next to the man, Celeste said “That’s okay. I doubt the world will end because I missed a baguette.” She crossed her legs and took a look around the street, which was still somewhat busy this time of day. “It is. I love to come here and people watch. It always gives me ideas for book characters.” She liked to watch the people going about their business and make up stories about them, considering it a kind of game.

Camden Market was one of Rhiannon’s favorite places to shop in London. She never knew what she would find there, which made every trip a surprise. Right now, she was at a stall selling clothes, her eye being caught by a particularly pretty shawl. Stopping to try it on, she pulled out her cellphone to admire her own reflection in the camera. Wanting a second opinion, she turned to the nearest person passing by. “What do you think?” she asked, giving a slow twirl so the other person could see it on her from all angles. “Does it suit me?”

Rhys was still biting away at his sandwich when he was asked to leave the place. 

He liked how spacious it was, and even though it was busy, and the food wasn’t so cheap, he really liked their juices. 

He was jumping from toe to toe as he was ushered out of the door. 

He extended his apologies multiple time, and took place on a bench right in front of the store, still nibbling away at his bread, and also holding his juice in his free hand. 

He easily looked like a fool. 

He looked up when a random individual passed. 

“Oh, if you were thinking about grabbing a coffee, they just closed. But you can have a sip of my juice if you want?” 

He was talking at the speed of a race-car. 

“Damn” said Celeste under her breath. “I was hoping to grab a prosciutto baguette.” She’d been late getting to the shop because her daughter had spit up on her shirt and she’d had to change. She shook her head and said “That’s a nice offer, but I think I’ll pass.” She sighed. “Well, I suppose if nothing else I can sit down and enjoy the fresh air.” She’d been inside writing all day and hadn’t even noticed how late it was until she’d gotten to the shop. “Unless you’d rather be alone....” she added, not wanting to be the sort of person who hung around where her company wasn’t needed or desired.

It had been a day. Honestly, she was glad that it was over. Not only had her co-pilot today absolutely gone on her last nerve, but she had also managed to ruin her best work blouse even before takeoff. The looks she had gotten on her way home on the tube had not exactly been great either - most people just weren’t used to someone having a huge red stain on a white piece of clothing. And the look she received at the moment had her raise a single brow before she even commented. “Don’t look at me like that, it’s just tomato soup. I didn’t murder anyone.” Though, admittedly, that would probably be exactly what someone would say if they had murdered someone.

Daphne hadn’t realized she’d been staring at the brunette until the other woman said something to her. Shaking her head, she let out a small laugh. “That’s good, because I would hate to have to arrest you when I’m off-duty.” she said. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to stare” she added. “But as someone who has a small child, I like to think I’ve become something of an expert at getting stains out of clothes. If you need any advice, I mean.”
