“ well … it don’t think it will be that long, do you? “ daisy was chatty. if you came into the tent when she was there, you’d be there for longer than you wanted to. she knew that cameron hated this - she figured by how tense she was, and she felt bad. she didn’t venture outside the walls very much, but she knew if she did and suddenly was unable she would feel upset, too. “ we’ll be outside in no time. “
“well… i don’t like having so much time off. i don’t know what to do with myself when i’m not here,” she admitted, crossing her arms over her chest. it was the truth, and nothing but the truth. “ it’s what i like to do and it passes the time. having to find my own hobbies is a lot harder than that. “
cameron thought she was clear already on her opinion on the situation, but it seemed daisy still thought she held the answers. even if she knew what daisy was doing by asking her questions, cameron would’ve told her if she knew as it would end this conversation much quicker. “i don’t know. like i said, i’m not allison. but if you’re so eager for answers then why don’t you ask the horde? they’d know.” she crossed her arms as she leaned against a table, her tone dry and full of sarcasm. she wasn’t sure who daisy was trying to convince with her reassurance but it wasn’t like cameron truly cared about the lockdown since she’d leave regardless. it was wasted time she cared more about. “i can understand that. i’m the same with hunting.” she shrugged a shoulder even if it was a lie. it was only her search for her brother that made her that way. “maybe try a medical book or something? two birds, one stone?” she genuinely suggested.
daisy was used to seeing cameron every once in a while - she would come around asking if there was anything that the medical tent needed, any supplies that they were running low on or were out of completely. daisy had to take a moment, rummage through some boxes and bins of supplies before assessing what they were low on and what was in abundance. “ well, we aren’t exactly low on it, but we could always use more bandages and antiseptic. i think that could be one of our priorities - because if an infection is present we never want to be unable to keep it clean…”
“ when do you think we’ll be able to leave the walls again? not that i’m in a hurry for any supplies, but i’m just wondering… “ daisy sighed. “ how do you feel about all of this, huh? not being able to leave at all? “
cameron tried her hardest to wait patiently for an answer, feeling every second wasted in here was time taken from being out there. she silently prayed they were low on something and almost breathed a sigh of relief when they were. “okay, i’ll add it to my list.” she nodded and turned to leave before daisy stopped her. cameron had come for one thing and one thing only, but it seemed daisy wanted to drag her into a conversation anyway. now she’d be forced to put in some effort if she wanted to get out of this. “do i look like allison? i don’t know. all i know is it better not be long,” she answered bluntly, looking at daisy as if she had three heads. “as for how i feel, not the greatest. i don’t like my freedom of movement being controlled. but on the bright side, at least you’ve got some time off.”
later that morning, an hour or two after allison’s announcement - daisy found herself in the medical tent. she had a moment to herself - and her mind was racing ever since those words left allison’s lips: ‘a group of runners and frenzies have been spotted not far outside the walls…’ she shuddered as she remembered it in her head, the words repeating themselves. she told herself it would be fine. the horde would pass, and that would be that. or at least, she hoped so. after letting her train of thought run its’ course, she turned herself around in her chair to get up.
as she turned around, she was unexpectedly greeted by somebody standing before her. she was startled, to say the least - but always kind. “ oh! i’m sorry. how can i help? “
“just asking about inventory. is there anything you’re low on?” cameron questioned with raised brows, to the point as always when she dealt with people. she would visit the medical tent once in awhile to assess their medical supplies but only when she needed a valid excuse to leave the community whenever she couldn’t sneak out. most of the times that she did return on her hunts with extra supplies, it was only things she didn’t need to add to her own secret emergency stash just outside the walls. she didn’t really care about the health of anyone in arcadia other than her own.
❝ so, that .. was a lot. ❞ she says without looking at whoever is beside her. ❝ i’ve never seen a runner or frenzy in person, myself, but i’ve heard they aren’t anything to mess with. ❞ there’s an aching knot that ties in the pit of her stomach at the thought of the horde - or even just one of the special infected - were to target arcadia. god, what a mess that would be.
❝ how have you been holding up lately? ❞
expressions weren’t too common on cameron’s face besides her usual resting bitch one, but that wasn’t the case after hearing allison’s announcement. doing what she was told was never something she was good at and the angry scowl on her face was evidence of this. allison had some nerve. cameron had been forced to cut her last search for her brother shorter to feed this fucking community and now being ordered to stay inside was just another slap in the face. no, she’d be damned if they denied her time outside over what she considered glorified pests. no one was going to stop her from finding ian, not allison or the dead. “i have. nothing a bullet and some cardio can’t do.” cameron had no idea why she even said anything but it was too late now. “and i’m fine. does this happen often?”

full name: cameron marie miller
nickname(s): cam, cammy
pet name(s): chameleon
gender: female
age: 25
sexual orientation: homosexual, homoromantic
birthplace: richmond, virginia
family: georgina miller – mother (deceased pre-apocalypse), ross miller – father (deceased post-apocalypse), ian miller – younger brother (missing)
- cameron’s american and is only in canada because her family was on vacation when the rise happened. she hasn’t left the country as she knows the journey back home would be too dangerous and arduous and has had no choice but to accept canada as her new home.
- she stumbled across arcadia while out looking for her younger brother after they got separated by a horde of the dead several months ago and has been living there for half a year now. she’s a bit of a loner as she doesn’t like people besides her brother but is still willing to contribute to the community for her own reasons.
- despite now having a permanent place to lay her head and food that’s within reach, cameron actually prefers being outside the walls and searching for whatever she needs to survive. she loves to challenge herself when she’s out there on her own time to push past her limits and figure out how much longer she can survive on her own if the time comes again. because of this, she often disappears for days or sometimes weeks at a time, though she leaves with food and supplies that only belong to her.
- cameron is merciless when it comes to her enemies and will kill them without batting an eye or losing sleep at night. at one point she would’ve felt deeply horrified at the thought of taking a life, but has grown accustomed to doing it from all the time she’s spent on the road. now, it only brings her comfort to know that she has ended the life of someone who would’ve done the same to her.
- she became a hunter only for the fact that it gave her an excuse to always be on the outside to search for her brother and because she doesn’t like communities. cameron doesn’t truly care about the arcadians or feeding them, believing they’ll turn on each other eventually and would have no problem abandoning the place if things get too complicated or she finally finds her brother.
- she knows that it’s absolutely insane, but she doesn’t mind being around the dead and feels safer with them than with most humans. however, cameron’s well aware that they’re dangerous and she doesn’t go out of her way to seek them out. she just feels that the dead are truer to their nature and more predictable than humans are. since all they can do is kill her, she feels that’s a kinder fate than what humans do to each other.
- cameron’s extremely independent and really doesn’t like asking other people for help. while she’ll do it if she absolutely has to as she knows not everything can be done by herself, most times she prefers to deal with whatever she has a problem with on her own.
- she has a tendency to be blunt and finds sugar coating the truth to be disrespectful as well as insulting. she prefers to be brutally honest to others and hopes they do the same since she believes honesty is the best policy. however, she doesn’t do this to hurt others, it’s only because she has grown used to saying the first thing that comes to her mind and will usually apologize.
