GHA interviewed at Ymuno festival
GHA - Moonriver
In a post-Mumford and Sons ‘Sigh No More’ era, there are loads of harmonising indie folk bands. But I still rateGoldheart Assembly as one of the best, even if they’ve not garnered the same kind of media attention as Mumford. Frankly, I think they run circles around the American equivalent Fleet Foxes. One of the most beautiful albums to come out of 2010 – and in my opinion, one of the most criminally overlooked – is Goldheart’s debut album ‘Wolves and Thieves’. It began my on again, off again love affair with their label Fierce Panda Records.
I think we all need something reflective, something to comfort us after the terrible tragedy of the downing of Malaysian Airlines’ flight 17. On Saturday, I went on a long run with this song on repeat, enveloped in its beauty. I had been reminded a couple days prior listening to it by itself on my mp3 player that it really is one of the most perfectly formed song in popular music in the last 5 years, probably in the last 30, if I may be so bold. ‘The Last Decade’ is elegiac, yet truly magnificent, and may the lives and souls of those we lost in that terrible accident rest in peace.

Redcar Rocks Festival.
Yesterday saw Goldheart Assembly take to the stage a Redcar Rocks Festival. Which is situated right next to the beach between the iconic Steel Works & Redcar's brand spanking new Vertical Pier decorated with a spiral of colours.
Just 10 minutes before the bands 7:15pm stage slot, I was informed that 4 of them were stuck in traffic & hadn't arrived yet. The group eventually made it & by the time they had set up & got there equipment working, sadly they had to cut their set short, which is a shame. Never the less Goldheart were fantastic, performing crowd pleasers like King of Rome & Oh Really, songs from their newest album Long Distance Song Effects along with covers like The Beatles One After 909.
The band drew a decent crowd & certainly got them in a dancing mood, ready for The Human League to take to the stage to close the festival.
Long Distances Song Effects back up & running
Apologies for the lack of posts over these last couple of months, work seems to have taken over but I am going to get the blog back up & running with regular posts featuring the latest news.

Quiet, maybe, but never silent.
The Goldheart Assembly returned last year, releasing second album 'Long Distance Song Effects' to no mere acclaim.
Since then, the group have toured widely before rewarding themselves with a little break.
Yet this doesn't mean that the band are slacking off. As part of Fierce Panda's 20th anniversary celebrations The Goldheart Assembly are set to play their debut album 'Wolves & Thieves' in full at London venue The Lexington.
Taking place on March 7th, this very special show will be accompanied by the vinyl release of both Goldheart Assembly albums on vinyl for the very first time.
As if that wasn't enough, the band have also handed Clash a previously unheard track. Recorded Lucerne, Switzerland during sessions for 'Long Distance Song Effects', 'Oh Really' is a spectacular piece of power pop which matches gilded melody to a ragged, breathless sense of energy .
