A Streetcar Named Desire
While Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire has seen countless iterations on stage, this ensemble with Gillian Anderson, Vanessa Kirby and Ben Foster as its central roles feels fresh and poignant, among which the most notable is Gillian’s portrayal of Blanche DuBois’ slow unraveling psyche when facing the unbearable realism in the French Quarter tiny apartment. The addition of a revolving stage in this production provides the audience a unique experience in the environ that has catapulted Blache’s decaying sanity. And all of this thanks to the brilliant insights provided by director Benedict Andrews.
