god why are outlast fans so fucking stupid. the warden's tattoos are extremely toned down white supremacist ones. red barrels aint gonna have him straight up having the join or die snake, its the same reason they can't explicitly have coyle saying the n word with the hard r even though we all know that'd be in every other sentence. Use y'all's brains. Infer. I mean this series is already majorly pushing the limit with what it shows and talks about.

I don't really know anything about the context of these tattoos but what you present here is very accurate and I take you word for what the snake tattoo can represent even if not explicitly a join or die tattoo.

The Warden did get new tattoos by Coyle that he didn't have before (shown here.)

The four of these have a sort of burnt texture on the skin with random faded points and brown edges on certain points (kind of like rust?), maybe Coyle used his cattle prod to draw these tattoos on and they aren't true tattoos but a result of burning the skin?

He has also some existing tattoos that OP pointed out in his spider web and the snake tattoo

Compared to one's Coyle gave him, these tattoos on the warden are much more detailed and fine point. I could see the cross potentially being one that he already had before Coyle but the cross has a similar texture and lack of detail that is more comparable to the other tattoos by Coyle rather than the spider web and the snake. The cross also has that same kind of rust texture on what is supposed to be the ink which leads me to believe it's from Coyle.

The spider web tattoo signifies prison time which would give a lot of plausibility to the snake being representative of a join or die tattoo since prison's are often segregated by race by prisoners themselves, I can see how the warden being a white man on prison would either willingly join that crowd or just be part of it by default simply for him being white in prison.

Sorry for the terribly long Hiatus, I kinda dipped off the internet in most senses aaaand got my ass into Outlast Trials so have some art for my Prime Asset OC !!!!

I may make a post about his lore at some point but I have plenty of drawings to post
