(getting a taste of my own medicine) actually this is okay. Is this what you guys have bene whining about? Jesus christ
Early Kishiyu was such a vibe. I honestly miss the mutual edging they were doing, especially on Yuder's end (though he was mostly unintentional). The way Yuder was in absolute denial while simultaneously being in awe of Kishiar, and the way Kishiar was so intrigued and turned on by him.... *chef's kiss*
reminiscing on ch 175 where they're in a carriage together and they hold hands but yuder tries to go no homo and pretend he doesn't have feelings but then kishiar asks him to compliment him and he can't resist kishiar and both tells him he's handsome AND that he's the only man who can command yuder
then in ch 200 yuder was like...yeah i give up i'm gonna be honest to myself my ability to resist kishiar is in shambles
“Kishiar made it clear that he had no intention of backing down until he achieved what he wanted. He was originally a genius at methodically manipulating and releasing his targets until he achieved his goal. If such a person continuously pushed, could Yuder Aile truly resist and refuse him to the end? ‘…I probably can’t.’ The answer came very simply. Running away right now was possible. He had always managed to evade this way so far. But every time he backed down from Kishiar, each subsequent confrontation resulted in an even more intense pull, striking him like a punishment. As long as the flame he had already felt did not extinguish, it was impossible to escape from this impulse. His instincts made that decision. ‘I was too naive.’ Yuder began to regret thinking it would be so easy to stand by Kishiar’s side to protect him. He had thought that he wouldn’t feel anything upon meeting him again due to the emotions from his past life fading. But it wasn’t so. The man he met again was much more vivid and human than the faint figure in his memories, so charming that it would be strange not to be drawn to him. Yuder realized the fact that he could feel such overwhelming emotions towards someone other than himself only when he met him again by rewinding time. The emotions awakened by Kishiar La Orr were all things that Yuder Aile hadn’t even thought could exist within him.
but also on kishiar's end yuder is like custom designed to be his kryptonite. Powerful enough to draw his interest, but also has this unwavering faith in Kishiar that Kishiar can't find any basis for. Like for years no one but his close family and subordinates have had this much faith in Kishiar, it's baffling but it also feels so nice that he desperately wants to live up to it and wants more of it
hiii ive always loved your turning yaps!! every post is a good read and ive come to understand sm more things ab kishyu after reading the chapters. but one thing is that im illiterate and js learned english some time ago so complicated chapters scare me. soooooo uhh if you have time can you re explain chapters 399-400 for me like. i get that its an old misunderstanding or something but i still dont rlly understand whats going on even tho its such an important event. pretty pls and tysm
Okay @emrinuii,
I've tried my best to answer you question. I hope this helps.
So the first half of Chp.399 is through the continuation of the escape from the Southern merchants in that cellar they were fighting in. Kishiar realizes that Yuder had taken some extreme measures to ensure the success of the operation. Yuder is bleeding from every orface on his face. In other words, he looks like an absolute wreck. As a result, Kishiar ends up carrying Yuder the rest of the way, and Yuder passes out at some point. Before he passes out, Yuder questions whether or not his actions were the best choice.
While he is unconscious, Yuder is dreaming of the moment when he confronts Kishiar about a rumor of his possible rebellion. Kishiar is going about in a roundabout manner of speaking and not answering Yuder/Yudrein's question. In fact, based on his behavior, it seems as though he's purposely trying to upset Yudrein even more. He tries to fix Yudrein calling him commander and even provokes him by asking if he should do something about the situation merely because they've slept together. In other words, Kishiar is pretending to be the frivolous Duke of the rumors and attempting to persuade Yudrein that he in fact is rebelling against the Emperor (though he never explicitly says he does). He instead tells Yudrein to focus on what is important, which is the Arcane Legion. Kishiar leaves Yudrein with more disappointment and confusion then ever before.
In the next chapter, chp. 400, Yuder is reminiscing on the moment in the dream he was in. He questions everything action Kishiar took and every word he said, which he used to take at face value when he was truly 20 years old. He questions about whether Kishiar was really planning on rebelling and whether or not he decided to hide such plans from the Emperor when he was normally such a meticulous person. Despite being intimate with Kishiar for so long, Yuder realizes he didn't know anything about Kishiar at the time. He reflects on his own emotions, and realizes he did want to believe that Kishiar wouldn't rebel. He wanted to believe Kishiar wouldn't do such a thing, but Kishiar had deflected him. Instead, he redirected Yudrein's emotions to focusing on the Arcane Legion instead, which was in a very unstable position in comparison to the 2TL, with Yudrein as an inexperienced Commander in the 1TL. In a way, Yuder realizes Kishiar managed to manipulate Yudrein into priortizing the Arcane Legion over his own questions about Kishiar. With the knowledge Yuder has in the 2TL, he realizes nothing about Kishiar's actions in 1TL were normal, and nothing about his health was normal either. Yuder then realizes he wants to know about what truly happened to Kishiar and the secrets he held in the 1TL.
This is a huge turning point in the story because before this, Yuder didn't even want to think about what Kishiar said and did in the 1TL. Everything Kishiar did in the 1TL, Yuder desperately wanted to push to the back of his mind. However, this turning point is a shift in Yuder's realization of his own growing feelings for Kishiar, as well as his growth of eventually confronting his trauma.
After his thought process shifting to wanting to face the truth, the chapter ends with Yuder's dream of his confrontation with Kishiar shifting to the dream of Kishiar's assassination by his hands (which is coinciding with his desire to face the truth).
Random Turning thoughts I've had that don't really belong in any of my posts:
There's no way Kishiar is only 97-100 kg. For reference, my guy friend is about Yuder's height (182ish cm) and is about 98 kg, and he has a pretty similar build to Kishiar but with a much smaller muscle percentage and higher fat percentage than him just based on Kishiar's described musculature. That giant sunshine has to be at least 115 kg, and I'm being generous.
Pruelle is desribed to have red hair and doesn't really look like his parents. He instead looks like one of his ancestors (one of the First Emperor's children) who had red hair. Does that mean the First Empress was a red haired baddie?
Slight spoiler warning chp. 930-980 ish range: When Yuder went into the sea, his capacity to become "one" with the ocean makes me think his ability isn't just controlling natural elements, but to become part of nature, and as a consequence, call on its properties. Other element wielders in the story don't seem to have the same capacity as Yuder to feel nature as part of themselves or "communicate" with it. It really makes me question how he came to obtain his abilities.
A large majority of the Ducal characters in the story are described to have red and blonde hair, though varying shades of it. I wonder if the manhwa artist is going to differentiate them more in the future beyond hairstyle (oh I want season 3 so bad 😫😫).
I feel like the height difference between Kishiar and Yuder is greatly exaggerated in art and I find it hilarious. 14-16 cm is not as big as one would think. It's a little bigger than half a head in height difference. Yuder's head would barely reach Kishiar's ear.
I feel like an underrated friendship/relationship in the story is Lusan and Yuder. Lusan is so cute and caring with Yuder, and Yuder is protective of the Legion's only priest.
Everything about this is top tier comedy. Absolute genius.
Translated points I love about it (meaning everything):
The emphasis on Kishiar's massive chest
The sparkles around Kishiar's "handsome" face
On Yuder's body: the killer
On Kishiar's body: the killed
Yuder's very pleased blushy and closed eye expression
Kishiar being clingy as ever even in a shoddy drawing
The shoddy "Arcane Legion" in the background
The new title: The Man Who Saved the Duke
Happy maid day.

Some ramblings on Ch 623-624 of Turning, and why it's one of my favorite scenes ever:
This is the first time we see Kishiar in a dream together with Yuder, and the first time Kishiar gets a glimpse at his past self after finding out the truth. There's so much emotions packed into that scene and so much insight we get into 1st TL Kishiar's feelings, mainly his fear.
He made Yuder his special piece and put all his hopes into him, but he had to put him in the front lines to protect him. But actually seeing him stand alone in the battlefield of nobles, in the uniform that Kishiar made him, was still terrifying. He kissed Yuder's hand in front of everyone as a political maneuver while also expressing his sincerest affections in a roundabout way (which Yuder rejects/is confused about). At that moment, Yuder's position, his new title as Count Yudrein Ail, and the image that rejection presented were all made to tell everyone that he and the Cavalry are no longer under Kishiar.
But at the very core of it, you can see Kishiar's love permeating every detail and action in that scene. It is Kishiar's love that made that uniform, taught Yuder everything he knew to be a commander, gave him the name Yudrein, and put Yuder in that strategically advantageous spot.
Also just the imagery of it!! Yuder in white while Kishiar was wearing dark colors. Kishiar kissing Yuder's hand in front of the throne and all their enemies. Yuder's confused and disgusted expression while Kishiar tries to nonchalantly laugh off his bleeding lip. Kishiar sincerely wishing Yuder the best as a Commander but only being able to convey it in a self-deprecating way.
Rereading it after reaching ch 1400s made me scream cuz like, Yuder did not catch so many of those implications both at the first timeline and during Ch 625-626 when he and Kishiar talked about the dream, but Kishiar must have surely realized everything??
I just think that that single scene, that one hand kiss, represents so much of 1st TL Kishiyu's tragedy so beautifully.
