Happy Friday the 13th! Friday September 13, 2013 marks the 13th Anniversary of the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay at Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion featuring the characters from Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas. D23 recently posted these great lights-on, behind the scenes photos of some of the overlay’s finer details. I’ll have more HMH lights-on, after hours photos to post soon.

So this came across my Pinterest feed today. Bizarre humanized, anime versions of the Three Caballeros. This person is an extremely talented artist and animator and as much as I do not care for Anime in general, it's amazing work and I just could not look away. I still think it's bizarre.

I have been on the Mystic Manor ride a couple dozen times already. The visual effects and tricks are mind-blowing even after re-riding so many times.

I just can’t get my head around how do they do some of these special effects, especially when in a dark ride environment, the imagineers can hide things behind the scene perfectly.

Until once, the ride broke down when I was in the Slavic-Nordic Chamber. The emergency lights kicked in and cast members came to assist everyone to the nearest exit.

I had the golden opportunity to walk through mystic manor and see everything in bright light. Many visual tricks are then very obvious! I have taken some photos as I walked (slowly, which I shouldn’t in an “emergency”) towards the exit.
