Lor is mad that the Council benefits from Volus labor (banking, trade networks, economic models, infrastructure, etc.) while simultaneously denying Volus repesentation.

It's exploitation, systematic discrimination and racism (speciesism) and Lor sees that clearly.

He hates the dynamic that the Volus are "under" Turian authority, and are protected but not equal.

He feels that the Volus are denied a Council seat because of assumptions about their physiology, culture, and capability which are assumptions that are rooted in stereotypes.

I do not write this in defiance, but I write this in necessity.

I have been told what a volus should be, but I will discover what a volus can be.

If danger threatens any of my people I will not seek permission to intervene.

Bashaak Jaa’un is the name of the Batarian who will also join the crew on the Odysseus. He's an engineer and a tech expert who was exiled from the Hegemony due to being wrongly accused of sabotage. What happened was that when he was working as an engineer for the military, he saw things happening such as shipments going missing, safety protocols ignored, maintenance logs altered to hide failures.

He did what he thought was right and reported it, but instead he was blamed, discredited and accused of sabotage. That messed up his psyche real bad, because of that trauma now he's constantly paranoid of being accused or hurting another person. He double checks everything, his work, his words, actions because he’s terrified of being blamed again.

If something breaks he automatically assumes that it was his fault, he avoids conflict if he can, and he has a deep fear of causing harm.

Due to being exiled he ends up working for the Blue Suns, mainly fixing weapons, repairing mechs and ships. Bashaak hates it, but it offers him safety and that's what he needs.

Vovas Lencrin is the name of one of the crew members that will join the Odysseus. He's a salarian medic, previously he worked at a biomedical corporation on Illium working on xenobiological treatments before he left due to ethical reasons. He's gentle, very emotionally intelligent, is also compassionate but also has some quiet stubbornness....also tends to be a perfectionist, also avoids conflict and internalizes his stress and trauma.

He's doing it because he wants to help others but he sees shady things from the company such as data falsification and unfair treatment from them to workers, Vovas speaks up and raises his concerns but he's warned.

His breaking point where he decides to leave is when he finds out that one of the co workers he was friends revealed to him that the company was using indentured workers as experimental material, and a few days after was "removed" by Eclipse for being a whistleblower.

After he resigns he decided to open a small clinic in the lower levels, which seems to always be cramped and full and due to it it's under supplied. Also it doesn't help that Eclipse is all around this location as well, but regardless he treats everyone who walks in including people who get hurt from Eclipse.

The incident that caused him to flee is that he treated a patient that Eclipse wanted dead, and once confronted by Eclipse mercs he refused to give them the patient's location. They threatened his life so he fled.

How he met Lor, Silvanus and Kalach was from a contact's recommendation that Lor received that there was a Salarian doctor on Illium who helped a lot of people who was in trouble and needed help.

Kalach and Silvanus eventually become romantically and sexually attracted to each other, and they become a couple later.

I am working on Ravanor Kalach's backstory at the moment but these are the things I have for him:

His age is in the 80-120 range

He used to be a merc

He also is a biotic, but unlike Lor and Silvanus he did not get training for it at all

Loyalty, reliability and protection are some of the traits that he values

Lor would reject drugs such as Minagen X3 and red sand entirely, because he feels that both are tied to exploitation. Red sand with biotics, and Minagen X3 with volus.

He feels that red sand is a symbol of control, manipulation and the stripping of autonomy. Huge example of this is Batarian slavers taking advantage of red sand addicts and using them as slaves.

Lor also feels that Minagen X3 is tied to volus vulnerability, and that it exploits volus physiology and volus' medical needs. He would see it as predatory and humiliating and he has rage towards people who profit from it (also red sand as well).

His merchant background also makes him hyper aware of the supply chain as well. He knows how drugs move, how they're hidden, how they’re laundered through legitimate cargo and how criminal networks exploit trade routes. Every time he sees it, it reminds him of that process and he hates it.

When he was a legitimate merchant he did try his best to report everything related to it. Lor flagged suspicious manifests, noticed discrepancies, and also reported concerns. He also warned the Protectorate and also warned the Hierarchy about these things as well but he was ignored, and his reports to them were labeled as "non-essential".

Silvanus first encountered Kuril during a prisoner transfer operation back when Silvanus was a Cabal and Kuril was an law enforcement officer.

During a crisis when high risk prisoners rioted, they both defended each other and Kuril saved Silvanus' life. After this encounter they met again and hooked up with each other, but it wasn't romantic in nature they were both very stressed and needed a release.

Silvanus liked Kuril's charm, but it was suspicious to him. It wasn't friendly, but deceptive. Seemed like it was used more as a tool, or used as a mask. Especially due to Kuril having no clan markings unlike Silvanus. The instincts that Silvanus had at the moment is that he's using the charm to hide something about him.

When informed of Kuril's death, Silvanus feels conflicted because he did know him somewhat before he joined the Blue Suns and was vulnerable around him. But he saw the warning signs and once he connected the dots all of it made sense to him. Silvanus doesn't mourn Kuril but he remembers who he was before he went down that path.

Biotic implants:

Lor's biotic implant is specialized L2 variant, adapted for volus nervous systems.

Silvanus' biotic implant is either a modified L3 or L4 series, that is adapted for Turians and also Cabal tactics. (I'm still deciding if it should be L3 or L4)
