A new painting for my collection. A marine scene painted by Frida Gugler (1874-1966).
I collect older books as well. This is a small group of books (all but 1 printed by Caxton Printers) from a local publisher. A great starting collection and some harder to find titles!
This is my first George Turland (1877-1947) painting simply titled “Monterey, California”, 1938.
A new painting for my collection. This one by George Turland (1877-1947) titled “Sunset off Cornish Coast”, early 1930′s.
A new purchase I just made, “Nill” by Khara Oxier, 2016.
Rock Newcomb, 1945 - Present, acrylic on board, “Evening Reflections”. I found this on eBay and liked it enough to post a bid. I won, which surprised me!! His works go for a pretty good price.
Luigi Moretti (1884-1950), oil on canvas, “S. Giacomo di Ralto” Venice 1928(?). Just got this one and it does need some restore work on it. The frame it is in is huge and has to weight close to 20 pound or more!!
William Bradley (1880-1945, oil on canvas “By the River”. This has been with the family a long time. I must have bought this almost 35 years ago.
Kenneth Evett (1913-2005), Oil on burlap, depression era. I bought this at a local used book store, had to send it off for restore work and came back absolutely wonderful!!
Added another First Day Cover (FDC) to my collection!! Hard to find these!
A second type of the Erfurt overprint that has made it into my collection. Only 1 sheet is known to exist of this overprint. Not easy to come by!!
A cover with a story to tell!! Lots of markings and travels.
Another historically significant cover. Walter and Hannah Levi (plus their six children) were deported from their home in December 1941 and sent to the Riga-Jungferhof ghetto in Latvia, they became victims of the Holocaust and believed killed in the Rumbula massacre.
It is very rare to find a newspaper wrapper, still unopened with the original paper inside. Not many of these in collections.
Not only a mass franking, 40 stamps, but a rare destination. This was mailed to the wife of Minister Otto Ernst Walter Von Kaschke in Windhuk, Southwest Africa, a former German colony lost at the end of WWI.
Researching postage due covers is very tricky. This one has correct postage due based on the UPU guidelines.
