After 9 fruitful years of business, Lorde Inc is closing operations. The agency has grown immensely and it’s felt time for us to evolve into a new chapter. We’ve been working towards starting a new project for the last two years, so it comes with much excitement to finally get to make this announcement. In May 2013, in a dirty illegal studio space in East London, Lorde was started as a passion project, a political stance and a labor of love, never did I anticipate it to grow into a full business. We started at a time where conversations around inclusion and diversity in fashion (and most industries really) were almost unheard of. During the first 4 years of the business, we were met daily with online abuse from white supremacists because the idea that racially marginalized people would create a space exclusively for themselves was perceived as so radical and so defiant, we’d be met with considerable violence. But oh how much have things changed! Not necessarily all for the better. The conversation around inclusion and visual representation has limitless years of growth to go but what we set out to do at the time we started was to take up space. If only one person saw our work and made them feel validated, beautiful and worthy — then I’d say we were pretty darn successful. I’m extremely proud of the work we did and can’t speak enough of how incredibly thankful I am to all of our supporters. Big shout out to my brothers @whutfield and @isaackariuki.jpg for holding things down with unmatched generosity. I am forever indebted to everyone that ever thought this project was worth paying mind to. With that said, this space is evolving and it is not goodbye forever. Excited to share with you what’s next. @nafisa_kap kap Founder and Casting Director, Lorde Inc. https://www.instagram.com/lordeinc/p/CYj25MPORl0/?utm_medium=tumblr
